  • "This was our second visit to Ai and we brought guests from San Jose and two artists after a gallery opening. Food was terrific and service very good. We really enjoyed the "different" types of rolls (White Russian was great!) and the salmon and white tuna were outstanding. Will be back again!"

  • "We went with a Groupon and the receptionist first refused to sit us with other friends. The atmosphere is good but the food quality did not match up."

  • "This was my 2nd time dining at Ai. I decided to try the katsu curry with pork tenderloin and a sushi roll. I can't remember which roll I had, but it was good. The curry was closer to a yellow curry, not the katsu I was accustomed to--a friend's homemade recipe, or others I've had in Dallas. The portion was more than generous, and I barely finished the piece of meet alone. It reminded me of schnitzel, but since I had only had katsu chicken before, I don't know if the pork was cooked authentically. The little rice and sauce I ate during dinner was fine. I took most of it home, thinking it would be good with a fried egg the next day. I was disappointed with my idea to make more than one meal of this dish. Next time, I'll split it."

  • "Ai Sushi and the owner, Kristy are always more the accommodating & friendly! We have been going there since they opened and we have always been made to feel appreciated being called by name after the first few visits! This last visit we took them the ingredients from our favorite roll from a sushi restaurant in Kansas City I use to work at and they happily made it for us and it was better than we remember it because the quality of Ai's sushi is a step above! Kristy even said they would probably be adding it to the menu which would be amazing! Thank you Ai, Kristy & the rest of the team for the continued great experience we always have!"

  • "Took some first timers for sushi. Best choice ever."

  • "I went here with my boyfriend on a Saturday night at 7pm for dinner, I would assume this would be the most-busy time all week for a restaurant... Well not here, there were maybe one or two other tables but aside from that it was totally quiet. The sushi was good and the modern atmosphere was cool. I am always weary of a restaurant with no people in it during a peak-meal time though. Overall I would go again because the food was good, but the environment was not full and fun."

  • "We should have ordered sushi only for dinner, outstanding! The kids meal was plentiful and a nice presentation. The would not allow us to substitute rice for the french fries, thought that was odd and not flexible. The two entrees we ordered did not meet our expectation. We will return to enjoy the sushi."

  • "Excellent location. Owner stopped by, very friendly. Wanted to ensure all was good. In fact, all was great. 6 friends got together enjoyed the sushi, the restaurant, the "vibe". Good stuff... This location has had a few turn overs. Really hope this one stays."

  • "Service was great, there were waiters always checking on us, a bit too much at times. The food was great. I fell in love with rice less rolls."

  • "Sushi was incredible, drinks, and desserts were all to rave about. Would definitely reccommend this restaurant. The owner was attentive and wanted to make sure we had a great experience."

  • "Service is a little weird... You have no specific watier/waitress making it hard to place an order or even get a water refill. Sushi was good but the calamari was horrible. IIt was so thick you couldn't chew it, kinda reminded me of a power cord but fried. :-( Also octopus salad was life changing in a bad kind of way... Do not order that unless you like the show "fear factor"!"

  • "Excellent sushi bar/ restaurant. Their menu is always the freshest and the food is great. The staff is very attentive and do their best to make the occasion perfect."

  • "We waited for 10 minutes, and when we were finally greeted they asked if we had been helped. When we said no, it took another 10 minutes for someone to greet us. He then said that they don't have assigned tables, and they all help each other's table. We were helped afterwards but it was mediocre. The sushi was also mediocre."

  • "Such an awesome variety of sushi and sashimi that that's all we had! We had the Kristy (Rice Less), wrapped in cucumber - my husbands favorite. We tried the Panic roll (Signature), which, while the heat snuck up on you, was not unbearable. Just right. And the crab topping tasted better than any I've ever had. We tried the Yellowtail Heaven (Ai Heaven Specia), our least favorite. Not by any means bad, there was just a lot to compete with! And we had the Pumpkin Roll (Cooked) which literally melted in your mouth. Stuffed as we were, we decided to finish it off with Tempura Green Tea Ice Cream. It was unbelievable (and huge!) and we ate every bite. A little pricey without the Groupon we had, but we would go back in a second!"

  • "I am a sushi lover and this is one of the best places I have found. Best house salad dressing!! I have been here many times and get a variety of rolls, sashimi and nigiri. Loved everything and the ahi tuna tower is to die for. To wrap it up we had fried ice cream with chocolate sauce. The owner is so nice, she really wants to make sure you are enjoying your meal."

  • "Try the Love Love Roll, it is the best. Love their riceless rolls as you get more fish/protein in the rolls. Very good. If you like wine with your sushi - not a good wine list but everything else and the venue is awesome."

  • "Decor is awesome, the food was very delicious! I loved all the rice less roll options. Great service as well!"

  • "Ai serves up some neat rolls. Ai has many flavorful and rice less rolls that are unique in tasting and makes you forget that you are not eating any rice with these rolls. The Kristy and Pumpkin rolls were two of my favorites. The Panic roll is for those who love spicy. It had the perfect amount of heat in each bit. The Ai roll is a mixture of raw salmon and tuna wrapped in soy paper. The edamame was mediocre. The cucumber salad was just perfect. The vinegar sauce they used was not over powerful at all. It wasn't a busy night but the servers seem occupied more at the bar than to the customers. Overall, I would dine here again but it wouldn't be my first choice."

  • "Always love Ai! The only small issue we had this time was 3 different people constantly checking to make sure we are okay. Being checked on is wonderful, but when 3 different people are doing it the number of times it happened bordered on bothersome. Certainly better than the opposite though!"

  • "Ai Sushi Sake Grill had a variety of menu choices which included Korean, Chinese and Japanese. The Chinese option was sure to please the kids and the Korean choice was a plus. Strawberry and green tea mochi is a must try. Sushi was great and overall, the food and experience were excellent. We are surely coming back to this place."

  • "The owner works here and she is a gem! Very friendly. The sushi speciality rolls are very good, but a little on the expensive side ($14-20). The standard rolls are moderately priced and are the same found almost anywhere. The fried rice is AMAZING - ORDER IT! I've been here many times and will return in the future. The service was a little lacking this visit but was NYE (but they were not overly crowded at 7:30)."

  • "Dined here on Christmas Day for dinner. The service was above average, but the food was fair. This is not a true sushi restaurant and the sushi was not very fresh."

  • "Sushi was excellent - some very unique and delicious dishes. Service was excellent despite that they were quite busy."

  • "I don't mind paying top dollar for high end sushi but this is on par with a US influenced restraunt. It was understaffed in the kitchen and in the dinning room."

  • "Tons of rice less rolls, if you like tuna and salmon check out the LoveLove roll. The blue lighting was clublike but the food is wonderful. Good selection of nigiri, rolls etc and they even have some ingredients I've never seen in rolls before like mango. The entire staff is helpful and despite a mistake of one of our orders to another table we really enjoyed this plaxe"

  • "Food, quantity, service and price were al very good. However, I was disappointed they did not offer any complimentary dessert/drink for my friends birthday."

  • "Sushi was average for the price. Service at lunch was slow considering how empty the restaurant was on Black Friday. Probably won't be back because there are too many other options."

  • "This restaurant is in the same location in the Ilume where a couple of other restaurants have failed. Not that they were bad, but this place totally deserves to make it. One of us had the chicken katsu (for non-sushi eaters), and it was the best I've had outside Japan. Not greasy at all...just like in Kyoto. And I could go on and on about the sushi, but the unagi and the volcano roll were some of the best I've ever had in the U.S. ...Service was also very good, and the cocktails (both specialty and the usual) were tasty and generous with the alcohol. We will definitely be back."
