Diner Reviews
  • "Everything about the evening was special. The service unequalled, the food dramatic and delicious. It was a celebration for 3 family birthdays in 1 week in my family and we could not have had a better experience."

  • "Great service and food was very good as well the experience."

  • "The food was very good and the $100 4-course prix fixe is reasonably priced. I found the bartender to be very pleasant but the waiter and sommelier were too snotty."

  • "Good food, good service but way too expensive for the portions your given. Eat here if you're rich and on a diet. No value for your dollar at all. Can get food just as good at other places and spend half the money."

  • "Three colleagues and I dined at Al Fiori on a busy Saturday night. Reservation was made through OpenTable. We received a confirmation phone call from the restaurant two days prior to our reservation. Table was ready within a few minutes of our reservation time. The service was attentive and swift but not over bearing. The food was simply outstanding. Fresh, well prepared, and savory. My favorites were the fluke crude, corzetti and the halibut. Each of us cleaned our plates with bread (which by the way was very very good and made in the restaurant); can't remember the last time I did that. The sommelier was very knowledgeable and guided us in the wine selection."

  • "My wife and I would recommend the Chef's tasting option. It took the occassional challenging task of choosing entre options at these fine dining establishments; everything on the menu looked interesting. Our waiter even gave me an extra Fiori D' Arancia which was a mistaken order from the table next to us. I couldn't turn it down. Overall, the multiple courses were just an eclectic collection that can satisfy even the pickiest foodie. The one thing that prevented the full five stars on the ambience scale is the proximity of our table next to a couple of loud, obnoxious business men. No way to prevent this except for maybe adding some Nyquil to their cocktail to settle them down. The table on the other side, however, was fine."

  • "I've been to Ai Fiori on numerous occasions and one again they did not disappoint. Every dish eaten by the four of us were delicious and well presented. If you're in the mood for a fancy meal, this is a great place to dine in NYC."

  • "On April 11, either something happened to be off for the night, or the restaurant's standards have deteriorated from our prior 2 vists. --Service: From the outset, it took too long to get attention for small requests, such as talking to a sommelier to ask about wine selection. Then, when we were ready to order our meal, the bus boy informed us that the waiter was "too busy," and said he was told to take our order--his first such assignment. (He did fine, but this wasn't a good sign.) The inattentive service continued for the rest of the meal. --Food: This time, the pasta and salad dishes were still excellent, However, the fish was dried out and tasteless, and seemed to have been waiting around a long time after cooking before being served."

  • "The service was impeccable, the wine delicious, the food outstanding. What more can I say?"

  • "We really enjoyed this very sophisticated dining experience. The menu had many wonderful choices and we enjoyed the modern interpretation of the dishes. Our waiter was professional and attentive, but was also fun and not overly formal. We shared a few things so we could try more dishes, and that was handled very well. The dining room is beautiful and contemporary, with gorgeous flowers everywhere you look. Many things done well, separates Ai Fiori from other high end dining experiences."

  • "My wife and I had the pleasure of taking some good friends and former neighbors from New York (we have since moved to the Midwest) to Ai Fiori and introduce them to this gem. It is one of many times I have taken folks there when visiting the City and have had the pleasure of showing them a great restaurant they were formerly unaware of. The service is superb, the food is a perfect example of its type and the ambience is elegant but comfortable. Whether breakfast, lunch or dinner, this is a spot worth a visit."

  • "Ai Fiori is expensive but really worth it. The service is elegant but still friendly and not condescending; the food is really excellent."

  • "Excellent wine list at acceptable markups, but many are not necessarily the best quality of their type or vintage. Portions are small, but adequate and preparations good, although the bronzino was almost tasteless (frozen or not bronzino???). But overall a restaurant worth visiting."

  • "Ai Fiori is one of those restaurants where one is impressed by the "whole experience" -- no detail is overlooked and everything works. The wait staff is very accommodating without being intrusive. And, from appetizer to dessert, the food is delectable: the hard-to-find torchon of fois gras was stupendous and the budino di cioccolato (though not exactly a pudding) was unusually light. They certainly deserve the Michelin star."

  • "Food here is quite good, though certainly not a bargain, which should be understood going into it that the place is pricey. One thing that bothered me was how they included the tip on all tables regardless of party size, but made very little note of it. It is spelled out (albeit in tiny print) on the menu and there is a line item on the receipt, but it could easily be confused for tax or a food item. The server should either alert the customer when dropping off the check or circle it on the receipt."

  • "Places gets enormous hype but the dishes are ..ehhh..at best. Have eaten here a few times as I thought it was me but always leave with same result...huge bill and ehhhh food. Menu is limited and nothing blows away. Had a tar tar dish ha was done better at Voce and pasta that is done better a countless others for way less mullah."

  • "Ai Fiori was a wonderful choice for a pre-theater dinner. The restaurant is nicely appointed, great bar too. The service was attentive but not invasive. The food was excellently prepared and presented. Would recommend for any special occasion. Plan to go back."

  • "I waited to long to go back to Ai Fiori. I wish I hadn't and I won't make the same mistake twice. Excellent meal all around. The duck was stellar as was the lobster soup."

  • "Giving the time constraint, the restaurant was an excellent choice for me. Having seen the 4.6 reviews, I was thrill to try it. I was able to reserve within a short time frame. I looked up the restaurant at 6 PM and I was able to book/reserve for 7:15, which was great. I was greeted with friendliness immediately and was seated right away. The servers were all friendly and carried with them great confident in their pasture and presentation. However, to my disappointment the meals were extremely small in size. Three words to describe the food: extremely tasty with great flavors and presentation, but very small in portion size."

  • "Great upscale ambience. Initially thought the portions were too small, but the quality, taste, and richness were outstanding. Now on my list for great eats in New York City ."

  • "We went for my wife and sister in law birthday, we had a great experience and food was awsome aside from a great service."

  • "Ai is still a good place for fine dining. Recently had the venison and it was a delight! Looking for more new things on the menu this spring."
    Dined on 3/27/2014
  • "This restaurant is elegant and modern. The staff is young but very well trained. Many niceties without pretensions. In the several years I have been returning here for lunch the food is consistently good and interesting."
    Dined on 3/27/2014
  • "This place was just nothing special. There are large windows looking out onto 5th Ave. which are clouded with dust. The portions are extremely small. My lobster bisque was tepid at best. The black truffle risotto was nothing to write home about and dessert was more of the same. This place was just ok. There aren't many choices in the area but I'd rather travel a little further than go back here."

  • "Ai Fiori is lovely place to celebrate! Food, especially the pastas, is excellent and served graciously by a very accommodating staff in a spacious and comfortable setting. And equally important, you could hear yourself talk. This was my fourth time there, and my guests and I loved it! I look forward to going there again!"

  • "Not really a restaurant area- this hotel spot has the great food of Michael White. For ex Covivio and current Marea fans- this place is just as delicious. Great pastas and flavorful entrees with a stellar wine list."

  • "The food, service was excellent. A little formal and not inexpensive but well worth it.Highly recommend to anyone looking for a "Foodie" evening."

  • "My husband and I took the time for theatre and dinner. This was the perfect dinner. The food was delicious and beautiful. The 'tasting menu' is not your typical tasting menu and was the perfect way to get to taste each course. The restaurant is elegant but not stuffy. The staff knows the answers to everything. They were present without being intrusive. We will be back."

  • "This is one of the FINEST restaurants in New York and it looks out on 5th Avenue. The food is consistently amazing and it is nice to know it is open 7 days a week!"

  • "We were delighted to experience Ai Fiore. Guest and I chose the four course fixed price. I'm unsure if the was an option to have wine pairing, so we selected a bottle from a great list of interesting wines. Food was well presented And tasted fabulous. Service was competent but not interactive enough. I'd go back if there weren't many other similar choices to experience in NYC"

  • "As usual, Ai fiori delivers! We did tasting menu with wine pairings. Superb! The staff was incredible. We didn't tell Them that it was our daughter's anniversary. They overheard us and brought us a happy Anniversary dessert! This was a Sunday evening And we had a wonderful meal. By all means, go there! Great dining!"

  • "This is one of the finest restaurant that I've ever been to around the world. Food was delicate, service was incredible. Although there were waiters whose accents were hard to understand, it kinda felt like I was in actual European restaurant."

  • "I do not understand how anyone could not appreciate this place. It is very similar to Marea--we went to Ai Fiori because we could not get a res there. I was not disappointed. The only reason I think reservations here are easier to get is because of location. If you expect outstanding service and exquisite (but not precious) food, then go."
