  • "Three colleagues and I dined at Al Fiori on a busy Saturday night. Reservation was made through OpenTable. We received a confirmation phone call from the restaurant two days prior to our reservation. Table was ready within a few minutes of our reservation time. The service was attentive and swift but not over bearing. The food was simply outstanding. Fresh, well prepared, and savory. My favorites were the fluke crude, corzetti and the halibut. Each of us cleaned our plates with bread (which by the way was very very good and made in the restaurant); can't remember the last time I did that. The sommelier was very knowledgeable and guided us in the wine selection."

  • "My wife and I would recommend the Chef's tasting option. It took the occassional challenging task of choosing entre options at these fine dining establishments; everything on the menu looked interesting. Our waiter even gave me an extra Fiori D' Arancia which was a mistaken order from the table next to us. I couldn't turn it down. Overall, the multiple courses were just an eclectic collection that can satisfy even the pickiest foodie. The one thing that prevented the full five stars on the ambience scale is the proximity of our table next to a couple of loud, obnoxious business men. No way to prevent this except for maybe adding some Nyquil to their cocktail to settle them down. The table on the other side, however, was fine."

  • "On April 11, either something happened to be off for the night, or the restaurant's standards have deteriorated from our prior 2 vists. --Service: From the outset, it took too long to get attention for small requests, such as talking to a sommelier to ask about wine selection. Then, when we were ready to order our meal, the bus boy informed us that the waiter was "too busy," and said he was told to take our order--his first such assignment. (He did fine, but this wasn't a good sign.) The inattentive service continued for the rest of the meal. --Food: This time, the pasta and salad dishes were still excellent, However, the fish was dried out and tasteless, and seemed to have been waiting around a long time after cooking before being served."

It is one of many times I have taken folks there when visiting the City and have had the pleasure of showing them a great restaurant they were formerly unaware of. The service is superb, the food is a perfect example of its type and the ambience is elegant but comfortable. Whether breakfast, lunch or dinner, this is a spot worth a visit."

The wait staff is very accommodating without being intrusive. And, from appetizer to dessert, the food is delectable: the hard-to-find torchon of fois gras was stupendous and the budino di cioccolato (though not exactly a pudding) was unusually light. They certainly deserve the Michelin star."

One thing that bothered me was how they included the tip on all tables regardless of party size, but made very little note of it. It is spelled out (albeit in tiny print) on the menu and there is a line item on the receipt, but it could easily be confused for tax or a food item. The server should either alert the customer when dropping off the check or circle it on the receipt."

  • "Giving the time constraint, the restaurant was an excellent choice for me. Having seen the 4.6 reviews, I was thrill to try it. I was able to reserve within a short time frame. I looked up the restaurant at 6 PM and I was able to book/reserve for 7:15, which was great. I was greeted with friendliness immediately and was seated right away. The servers were all friendly and carried with them great confident in their pasture and presentation. However, to my disappointment the meals were extremely small in size. Three words to describe the food: extremely tasty with great flavors and presentation, but very small in portion size."

The black truffle risotto was nothing to write home about and dessert was more of the same. This place was just ok.
