  • "We had the $36 per person 3 course family style dinner and it was wonderful. The price was a bargain for the amount of food we received. It was also delicious. The courses changes weekly but notable items were the focaccia, grilled oxbow lettuces, seared albacore tuna. As a bonus the restaurant is certified organic too!"

  • "The interior of the Argodolce is wonderful. Plenty of light from the big windows, charming tree in the middle and wonderfully colorful artwork on the wall. The atmosphere is also very charming and welcoming as a neighborhood place with the waitresses wearing casual floral clothes. The food was good, but high priced for what it was."

  • "We had dinner with friends the other night at Agrodolce. We ordered appetizers, main courses and great wine. The appetizer came out great and on time and a couple of glasses of wine came while we waited for our friends. We decided on a bottle and it took at least 10 minutes as it was "chilling". It was still not quite cold enough when it got to the table. Our main courses took about 40 minutes to arrive and 3 of the 4 dishes were cold. One of our friends sent his back and got a warm dish within 20 minutes, the others were too hungry and ate theirs anyway. The staff was very apologetic upon finding out we had cold food and comped us with a dessert. It just seems that there's a timing issue with cooking and serving. We would return..."

  • "When I arrived I was greeted without an hello just " do you have reservations" and I was just pointed to my table not taken to it and the servers and hostess were wearing sleeveless , way to tight and not too flattering clothing. I also noticed there were crumbs on the carpet and the place looked like it had never been cleaned from the day before. But the food was outstanding and the specialty cocktails were amazing . Don't think I will come again though."

  • "Our reservation was for 10 AM on a Sunday morning. The restaurant was dark when we arrived. A sign said that technical problems would not allow them to open until 10:30. (a hung over chef?!) We decided to walk around the neighborhood for 30 minutes and returned. They were open, but no reason was given for the delay. With four of us in the restaurant (& nobody else) I expected quick service. Not so. Very slow on taking our order, bringing coffee, bringing food. As groups did show up the noise level kept building. A crowded room would be even noisier. The food was fine - portions on the small size and not as many vegies or fresh fruit on the menu as I would have expected for a Maria Hines restaurant."

  • "Decided to do a quiet dinner at Agrodolce for my birthday and was slightly disappointed. Don't get me wrong the food was AMAZING but the service was terrible. There were significant delays between dishes (even though we ordered everything up front) and even something like asking for a dessert menu took about 10 minutes. We ended up not getting dessert because we just couldn't stand waiting any longer. At one point the waitress looked right at me when I called her over-- she then told me to wait a minute and turned around to help another table-- only to leave and come back 5 minutes later. Maybe we just had a bad waitress."

  • "Agrodolce is a nice little neighborhood joint, located in the space that formerly housed the 35th street bistro. The location is nice, lots of natural light filtering through the plate glass windows, but could use some major updating. The floors are very badly worn and the carpeting in the back area is threadbare and dirty. It was quiet on a Friday, not a good sign for any restaurant. Early in the night, servers gathered around the hostess stand to chat. Not really professional. Our server was nice and responsive, but her command of the menu and wine list was not great. With the negatives out of the way, I really have to praise the food here. Nothing on the menu is especially innovative, but everything tasted very good."

  • "My husband and I have been wanting to try this restaurant for awhile, so we finally did. We shared a 1/2 carafe of the house red wine which went great with the focaccia bread, arancini, and both of the pastas we had. I would highly recommend the rabbit ravioli. For dessert, we had the s'mores budino...I would go back for just that!"

  • "It's reputation was higher than the actual experience. The polenta fries are amazing, but other appetizers and entrees were only so-so. For example, the albacore tuna was not seared correctly and didn't have much flavor. In fact, most dishes we tried were small portions (for the price) and really didn't taste very exceptional."

  • "We love Tilth and Golden Beetle (in particular), so we had high hopes for Agrodolce. We had the tasting menu, which presents a good value, but only if the food delivers - the soup had great texture but lacked flavor, I received the wrong second course but still found the clam pasta a little so-so, the hanger steak was good but not great. Admittedly, the hanger steak is not my favorite cut, so I'll take some responsibility for ordering it. I will say that the wine pairings were well done, and were the highlight. I guess I feel that when dropping $200 on a meal (with wine), I should walk out having had at least one dish that is looked at my wife and said, "Oh my god, I could eat this all day.""

  • "We had been waiting to go to this restaurant for a long time and saved the date for a special occasion. For the price of the food/the vibe of the restaurant, I was really disappointed. Our food was all either cold or varying in temperature (the polenta fries were half scalding hot and half cold) and the pasta was just okay. I've been to almost every other decent restaurant in Fremont and found this to be the worst. Our server was dressed kind of inappropriately (this coming from a 28 year old not conservative person) and took a break during our meal without telling us. So we sat with no service for 30 minutes, another waitress came over and took our silverware/cleared the table because she thought we were done and we hadn't even eaten yet."

Still no apology from our server. I was then billed for all the entrees and had to have that fixed...no apology from our server."

Particularly repellent were pickled green strawberries like pickled buttons-- hard and vinegary-- in burata hors d,oeuvre. All four of us were disappointed, although some extremely pricey polenta fries consoled us. They were delicious."

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed our evening. From the wonderful atmosphere to the fabulous food. The aroncini with the basil marinara was the best sauce I have tasted. I also highly recommend the broccoli with anchovy vinnegraite. Our waiter was wonderful with excellent recommendations and very attentive. It was our 25th wedding anniversary - we brought a very special bottle of wine and then comped us the corking fee. All around exceptional evening. Highly recommend this restaurant."

  • "Well, after writing a rave review for our dinner experience about a week ago, lunch was a disappointment. In a nearly empty restaurant, we couldn't have a nice window table because it was for 4, while we were only 2. (No one sat at it the entire time of our 1.5 hour lunch.) The cauliflower soup was quite sour and peculiarly "off" tasting, like maybe some of the cauliflower had gone bad. The arugula salad also was very sour. No bread to accompany these items, which might have absorbed some of the sourness. The only salvation was the lemon sorbetto (yay, not sour but spritely zingy), which was accompanied by some very fresh and tasty hazelnuts."

  • "When you have family members from San Francisco who consider themselves real "foodies", it's an intimidating prospect to choose a restaurant. Agrodolce is a terrific selection for those discerning guests. We had a lovely dinner with selections ranging from homemade pasta to duck. Each meal was delicious and the chicken was especially good (a deboned half a chicken). Wine selection was solid and although we passed on dessert, it looked delicious. I've been to Agrodolce at least 5x and it never disappoints."

  • "Not under the literal bar, but underwhelmed for one of the Hines' restaurants and previous trips to Agrodolce, though on other trips we've had slow-to-come entrees. But the entrees weren't that good, especially for the price. Barley spaghetti dish was not half as interesting as it sounded and the cauliflower soup was anemic. Had a fabulous asparagus dish, and of course, great cocktails with a nice local liquor selection. We love these restaurants, but this outing was a shade disappointing."

  • "The food was amazing! We ordered the antipasto, cauliflower soup, lamb burger, rabbit ravioli, clams and the carrot gelato. All were delicious. The only negative thing was the service. The waitress seemed like she didn't want to be there. She never smiled, and she had a snotty look on her face the entire time. I will be back for sure since the food was amazing but I'm going to cross my fingers for a different waiter/waitress."

  • "i had high expectations for agrodolce, especially being a maria hines restaurant. the service was great, no complaints there. drinks were really good - they make an excellent martini! but the food was just so-so. my fish was dry and overcooked, the pasta dish was lacking flavor. can't really see any reason to return."

  • "Was excited to have scheduled brunch at Agrodolce. Unfortunately, I was disappointed. My friend and I arrived for brunch when they opened at 10. It was probably 4-5 minutes before we were greeted and brought to our table. This was even with a reservation. Food was okay, but not memorable. Host took our order and brought it out, but a waitress (who said that she just arrived) asked us about our food and brought us our bread that was supposed to come out with our food. Near the end of our meal, that table next to us asked if they could order and they had arrived shortly after us."

  • "Made reservations and got stuck in the corner of the restaurant where it was darker and were bothered by the curtain. The party in front of us did not have reservations and was seated in a brighter and more desirable area of the restaurant. Once the waiter took our order and the food came, not once did we get checked up on. In fact, we wanted to order another dish and get a refill on the bottomless mimosa, we had to flag a server down for the mimosa and the menu. We decided on a dish but a server never came back. We decided enough was enough. The food was very good, but for the mere lack of service, I will very likely never go back."
