A word from Agora Churrascaria
Agora Churrascaria is a Brazilian Steak House in the "Rodizio" style, where waiters, dressed as Gauchos (local ranchers from the South), move from table to table carrying skewers of meat, from which they slice portions for their guests. Agora serves 12 different cuts of meat, including beef, pork, lamb and chicken. The restaurant prepares each cut as it has been for centuries: seasoned with rock salt to accent the individual tastes of each cut, and slow-roasted over an open flame. Upon being seated, every guest is given a green and red-sided circular chip to control their fixed price, continuous tableside service. The green side signals the Gaucho to "bring it on," while the red side stops the service. For additional servings, guests simply flip the indicator back to the green side. In addition to the succulent meat selections, Agora offers an outstanding hot and cold salad bar, comprised of Brazilian and seafood specialties as well as a variety of tempting side dishes.Continued

  • "I went here for my wife's birthday, just the two of us. It is nice and modern inside with good music playing that fits the theme. The bathrooms and floor and tables and salad bar were very clean. I wouldn't go here for an intimate night, however. The food is great. It's a really cool experience, however you must pace yourself so you don't fill up on the first few cuts brought by. All the meats were quite delicious. I truly enjoyed getting to try so many different cuts. The chicken hearts were the only thing I didn't like, though I am sure they tasted how they were supposed to. The salad bar was a nice step up from a normal one. All the hot foods were very presentable. The mashed potatoes were fantastic. Service was perfect."

  • "Got a table in the front of the restaurant tucked in the corner. I guess it must be easy to forget people where we were sitting or they were understaffed at the time. Other times i have been, it seems like too many servers were coming around and we would have to put our coaster to red. It seemed like where we were sitting the servers would make their rounds around the other tables but would run out of meat by the time they got to ours. They came around 8-10 times, but that was mixed with chicken and pork. Sometimes it would take 6-8mins before we even saw a meat skewer.. It seemed like other parts of the restaurant were buzzing with the meat skewer guys. I love this place, but just ask to be moved if you are sitting in the front corner."

  • "We have been here many times and never experienced a bad meal or bad service! We love taking friends there for their first visit, as they are so overwhelmed by the amount of food as well as the outstanding food quality. Love the salad bar--it is second to none and the side dishes are always fresh, hot and equally yummy. Cannot say enough good things about Agora! The price is on the high side but you definitely get your money's worth! Oh, and no matter how full I am, I always seem to find room for the chocolate mousse cake--LOVE IT!"

  • "We visited Agora for my daughter's birthday based on recommendation from our son, who'd been there before. It's a dining experience that everyone should try at least once. The atmosphere is casually elegant and the service was prompt and professional. The assortment of salad and side dish options was more than enough to please everyone in the party. The real treat though, is the tableside service of so many main dish choices. A variety of steak options, baked fish, lamb, chicken - all prepared in delicious and unique fashion and all delivered constantanly until you just can't eat any more. The "Gaucho" servers are friendly and attentive and make sure your plate is never empty. In all, a fun and enjoyable experience highly recommended."

  • "Service was bad from the beginning and went down hill fast. Our waiter had to be asked numerous times to refill our drinks and pretty much ignored us the rest of the evening. Food service was incredibly slow and the guys going from table to table by passed us most of the time and ignored my request for medium well to well done meat. The last straw was when we finally flagged our waiter down and point blank told him we weren't getting any food and asked him to have the guys come by our table.. Well two servers did and both brought us things we weren't interested in eating after specifically stating what we wanted to our waiter. So we left upset and hungry... A first for is at a Brazilian BBQ."

This time the food was very good, the environment is very clean, and the service is also very good. Although it does not compare to Fogo De Chao in Beverly Hills, for the type of Restaurant in Irvine, I do recommend it."

  • "The food was tasty, it's kind of buffet style and then servers bring meat to your table (Brazilian style I guess), but it's kind of expensive and the buffet options are just ok. The meat options were great though! Our main server was nice, but a little inattentive, however we went on Valentine's Day (but it wasn't that busy-fast turn around due to the buffet style I suppose)."

  • "I've been to many Brazilian Churrascaria restaurants in my time, but Agora put them all to shame, the restaurant is set in a very unsuspecting part of Irvine, corner of Mac Arthur and Main. It's not flashy or easy to spot, but once you're there you'll leave with enough delicious memories that you won't wait very long to return! The condiments, salads, Shrimp, smoked Salmon, Buffalo cheese and tomatoes, Etc., Etc., are to die for, but you do have to regulate yourself because the meat is what you're there for, Tri-Tip, Top sirloin, Chicken, sausage, Salmon, Skirt Steak, to name a few are out of this world!"

  • "I've always enjoyed going to Agora but this last time was horrible with a family of 4 kids that would not stop running around with their shoes that flashed every time they took a step and hitting the silverware on the walls & furniture. Other than the family that had no control of their rambunctious children, my co-workers and I had an amazing time there! Tammy was phenomenal! The food is always amazing! I am definitely planning to go back again, hopefully there won't be obnoxious children *fingers crossed*"

  • "I made my Valentines dinner for my wife, son and my mom. I also put down a special request to provide two long stem rose for my wife and my mom. The server came and took our drinks and provide us to the buffet line. No roses came so I went up front and spoke to manager and he stated sorry we overlooked the special request and that was it. Not the best restaurant to follow " Special request easy enough to do". So I told my wife and mom that they we're suppose to provide roses and I specially said on the phone that I received to confirm the dinner. Nothing happened and I felt that the surprise was ruin because this restaurant didn't follow the "special requests. Food was good but the service could of been better."

The tri tip was by far the best cut of meat and the black bean stew was very satisfying. They had a special dinner on that day but we decided to go for the lunch. If you are looking for a fine cuts of meat, cooked to perfection, this is the place for your next dinner. Not cheap, but well worth it!! Also, they have a terrific salad bar as well."

  • "My wife and I went the day after Valentine's Day as our night away from the kids. We were seated very close to the salad bar and the noise level was more than we had hoped. It took some time to get acknowledged, as we had not been before and did not know the protocol. When we were greeted, our server was friendly, but his broken English did make it difficult to communicate our questions with the process and the drink suggestion. Meat was good, but not the variety I had hoped for. We were offered the same meat several times, but had to ask for others to come by. We had our fill and flipped our cards over, but again had a long wait for the check. No dessert offered because we had to initiate the check request."

  • "We were very impressed with how promptly we were seated for our reservation and the excellent server. The buffet for side dishes had a great selection and beautiful presentation. The meats were exceptional in flavor and tenderness. Nice wine list. Great server. The manager was totally on top of things stopping by to make sure we were enjoying our evening. We also enjoyed the glass of champagne, flan dessert and chocolate strawberries that came with the Valentine's Dinner Special. Valentine's can be a tough one to get good service but this restaurant has a great crew that ensured a great dining experience."

  • "We came for Valentine's Day. We've previously been to Fog De Chao. The food here is not good. They simply cooked all of the meat with no seasoning what's over. The side items of pico De Gallo and a banana (not a plantain as advertised) with cinnamon sprinkled on top. Drinks were weak too. The service though was great. Too bad the food will not work."

  • "I took my husband here for Valentine's day. We got there about 15 minutes before our reservation time but they seated us right away, and all of the tables had rose petals and candles on them. The salad bar was great, and the gauchos were very attentive even though our table was tucked all the way back in the corner of a side room. I think we were served 8 or 9 different types of meat, and all of them were delicious. One was served too rare for my taste but some people like that kind of thing. We had food coming to us faster than I could eat it, and I was sad when I was too full to eat any more and had to flip my card over to red. It was on the expensive side, though, which is why I wouldn't make this a regular habit."

  • "The food was excellent. We were running late because of traffic and called a head and they held our reservation. Our server was well informed and pleasant. We had to wait a bit for the filet mignon and when it came it was not the filet. Compared to another Brazilian style establishment like this one, the salad bar was a little sparse. Overall, however, I would return on a different night because the food and service was Great!"
