The food was scrumptious and it was great to be able to "hear one another" and not have to yell! We would not hesitate to return."

  • "I was looking forward to a wonderful, robust Italian meal. Sadly, the meal was average, poorly presented, and service was clumsy. I ordered my antipasti & salad, and I was asked 3 times if I wanted it as my entree. Then my husband and I asked to share the pasta as our second course, before our meat entrees. Served all at once. All my dining companions had cocktails, I opted to just have wine(bottle we ordered) the waiter filled all their glasses with wine when I had least amount in my glass; and I was the only woman seated at the table. Bottom line, the good was mediocre, huge sloppy portions, under seasoned, and sadly outdated. I expected robust, traditional Italian and was highly disappointed. Bestia and Gusto are far superior."

  • "Came to celebrate a birthday and had a terrific experience. The service was top notch and the food was really delicious. It's no wonder it's been around for quite awhile. The buratta appetizer with green beans was yummy. Everyone's entree was also very good and cooked to perfection: risotto with seafood - delish, grilled swordfish- perfectly seasoned and cooked, grilled branzino-delicately flavored, and pasta with lamb ragout- scrumptious...not a clunker in the group. For dessert, the tiramasu was outstanding. The one disappointment was the berry-topped cheesecake - a little too dense and dry for my taste. Overall, a great meal was enjoyed."

It is still hip, but there has been many new hip Italian spots opening recently. The place has a nice patio and covered garden area. It's rather expensive, around $100/person."

What is the point of reservation, when I still have to wait more than 15 minutes? The mojito was bad, I am sorry but, the bar-tender doesn't know how to make a mojito. I really enjoyed your dishes, the filet mignon with mushrooms, the octopus and the desserts were great. I cannot say anything bad. Our service was OK, nothing spectacular. I would not come here for 2 reasons, it's not non-smoking friendly, the patio's cigarette smell was really bothering me even though we were sitting inside, it was so much that I couldn't breathe and it was very very noisy. I can tell the food is quality. That's about it."

  • "If Ago were a house, I'd call it mid-century modern: beautiful but needs updating. The menu was innovative when Ago opened, but has not changed. The pastas are delicious and the vegetable soup is great for a cold day. The deserts are old standards that do not tempt. The outdoor patio is relaxing and perfect for lunch or a warm evening."

  • "The fish soup was amazing - warm and luscious without extra heat or richness. The seafood was perfectly cooked, plentiful and contained a great mixture of fish and shellfish. Heartwarming! The panna cotta dessert was a perfect ending to the perfect meal. Our waiter Eric went beyond the call, noticing when I dropped my napkin and brining me another without asking - and adjusting our table when he noticed it rocked slightly. I'll be back!!"

  • "There were four of us who live in South Orange County. We came to LA to The Pantages for a matinee performance of The Lion King. I grew up in West LA/West Hollywood, but was unfamiliar with some of the new hot restaurants. All the reviews I read about AGO were spot on. We walked in and the host and hostess were very welcoming. We were early so we sat at the bar and our bartender was very entertaining and made us feel right at home. We were seated about an hour after we arrived and our waiter was perfect with his Italian accent and charm. Our meal was outstanding, the service was excellent, the dessert was devine, and if you are into people watching, this is the place to be. We will be going back there again and tell all our friends."

  • "I had read the past reviews of Ago, and so not being an LA person decided to try it out, as we were staying nearby. There was nothing to particularly dislike about Ago, staff were friendly, food was ok and generally the atmosphere was pleasant. Our disappointment was that it is just all a bit tired. My suspicion is that the restauarnt has managed to trade for years with a bit of a halo due to the ownership, and what I guess is the occasional celeb that turns up to eat for the reason it is owned by Di Nero (I think). Overall it was simply over-priced for what it offered. I do not have any major complaints, other than the experience -- food and atmosphere-wise -- was not in line with their reasonably higher prices."

There is no kids menu and not really much on the regular menu that kids would like either…other than pizza and asking for plain noodles. Took my 10 year old daughter and two of her girlfriends there for her birthday. They had a good time. Service was nice and friendly, but very slow….even for an adult only meal. Restaurant had a nice vibe and ambiance. Nice people. Food wasn't anything fabulous. Desert wasn't either. For the price, I would go elsewhere…even without kids."

  • "Very friendly welcome and waiter. Unfortunately, no Italian would touch the bread they served us, sorry. Food was good, also the price/quality ratio was a bit off. We had a coupon for 50% off wine but after three glasses they informed us that the discount was only on bottled wine! oh well!"
