Margarita flights with table side guacamole, made to your specifications, was a great way to kick off the evening. Pecan salmon and the chicken enchiladas were both outstanding. And not just ordinary chicken enchiladas - not drenched in red or green sauce but baked to perfection with delicious filling that was more chicken than cheese and simply elevated the notion of what an enchilada can be! Salmon was perfectly cooked and the hominy ragout was a perfect compliment with great corn flavor without being mushy or flavor-diluted. Missed desserts - we were too full. We will be back, especially for 11am - 7pm half off happy hour in the bar (great deal! And bar area is a great place to sit!.) The only downfall was the set up of the buffet. Very confusing. Also, the mimosa/ bloody mary bar was a great idea, but I think the servers should take care of that, then the buffet area would be a little less congested. Also, if the servers brought the plates, I think the flow of the buffet would go smoother and faster. People had to wait 15-20 minutes for the plate then circle around for what they wanted so it made it hard if you had chldren with you. The food was fantastic. The server was very nice and attentive as well. I ordered the carne asada and it was great; he ordered the trout and thought it was mediocre. I tasted his trout and thought it was very good. The waitree noticed he didn't eat much and the manager came over to inquire which we were both impressed with; she offered to get him something else. It really didn't make a difference because we said EVERYTHING looks good. Put all of the ingredients in. I continuously go back to this restaurant for the food, margarita's and the great hospitality!!!!12/31/2012 12:00:00 AMRecommended!We had dined at the Agave earlier in March and although we really just had appetizers we were favorably impressed. On returning in April with some friends we found the menu had changed, at first we thought oh no, but carried on. The menu if recollection serves me has less offerings than before and is tilted more to the upscale. As it turned out we should not have worried our meals were all excellent. The dishes were well conceived, interesting and prepared with an expertise that I would not normally associate with this type of food.
The service, decor and atmosphere all added to a very nice dining experience! Recommended!4/5/2013 12:00:00 AM
