Diner Reviews
  • "I went to Agave for the first time this weekend to celebrate my birthday. It was a great experience! The service was great, we never wanted for drinks and the food was very good. The atmosphere was surprisingly and pleasantly calm for somewhere that hosts these types of brunches! I definitely plan on going back."

  • "Great AYCD brunch in the West Village for about $30. Food was tasty and the service was impeccable. Our server kept our mimosa glasses full and food came out quickly. I would definitely go back again."

  • "It was my first time there and I really enjoyed. Great bar scene with flavorful drinks and the dining area has a superb ambience. Greatly understated from the outside and even upon entry but it opens up to be beautiful."

  • "Great Spot with even better food. Not someplace to go of you don't like crowds. Favorite place to Brunch for me. Drinks are great and waiters make sure to keep them coming. Maitre'D was wry accommodating on most recent visit. Highly recommend! Consistent great service and food."

  • "So, I made a reservation for 12. Many of the people in our party (including myself) came late due to transit problems. Despite showing up an hour late, Agave was very reasonable and accommodating. Food prep was expedited to ensure that everyone could eat in under an hour and the drinks were liberally poured. The only problem is that they cut off the drinks 15 minutes before your reservation is up. I was under the impression that I was paying for 2 hours of bottomless drinks, so why am I being cut off at the 15 minute mark?"

  • "The food was good, service was good, and overall good experience. BUT the noise level was ridiculous as the ceilings are low, you literally can't hear the person you are having dinner with as the table are close by and very noisy. Also don't sit in the centre tables as u will get banged multiple times by the wait staff. Very tight spot."

  • "We had a great time for a small bridal shower brunch. Serve was quite attentive even though the place was packed. I would definitely return for their boozy brunch."

  • "We ordered the guacamole with 3 salsas, only received 2. Service was fine, but food was bland and forgettable."

  • "Great server. Average good. Kind of loud. Overall, a great brunch spot. Never had to wait for the server for refills, someone was always within eye view! Great service! Will definitely go back again."

  • "Wow, what a bad experience for a group brunch. Granted, this is one their busiest times, but they handle things badly. I had a large group at noon. No one ever told me that we had to be out by 2pm or we would be kicked out. Now, we had no plans to stay for 4 hours, so that was never a risk, but at 1:50, the waiter said we had a few minutes, asking if we wanted to order anything else like coffee/dessert. As if we would have had time for that! There was some other reservation after us. Again, I understand that this is a busy time, and as a former restaurant worker, I also understand that large groups that park themselves at tables stop the restaurant from making money. But they could've done several things differently. Will never go back."

  • "I always go to Agave because the drinks are great and the food is delish. This experience however was beyond exceptional. My best friend and I had the pleasure of being served by Oliver. He's an amazing person and was great company. Agave will always be a place I will go to for my Ricky's, but Oliver made it much more awesome."

  • "I had always wanted to check out agave and am very glad I did. The bar scene was fun and vivacious. The dining area was separated from the bar so it was easy to have conversations. The crowd was great, service was outstanding, and the food even better. I was pleasantly surprised with how much I loved it and will definitely pay another visit."

  • "You can't beat their bottomless brunch! Best food, best drinks, best atmosphere, best value. I come here with other locals and always take friends visiting. Try the fiesta burrito and a frozen margarita :)"

  • "Agave was not only delicious and moderately priced, the atmosphere was so beautiful. What a fabulous little Mexican restaurant! The guacamole was delicious! My friend ordered a burger and even that looked amazing! I loved Agave! Great for party's, dates, fun night out! Kellin"

  • "Great for Boozy Brunch. Service was oddly slow at the tail end of the meal. The waiter removed champagne glasses to indicate it end of unlimited mimosa time, but didn't bring the check for a full ten minutes. The staff was very friendly and the place was very cute. Solid food."

  • "This was a fabulous experience. I had a party of 6 and everyone was accommodating to anything we needed. Seating was a little tight but overall food, drinks and ambiance were fantastic!"

  • "Turned to Agave after a few other highly recommended places had no reservations. They were accommodating and moved my reservation from 730 to 745 when the PATH trains all of a sudden broke down--yea a small change but still helpful and appreciated. The service was good, the food seemed fresh and was tasty--both had the short rib tacos. Though the guac was kinda bland and we didn't really touch it much. We did notice that with each subsequent drink we ordered they got weaker and weaker (and for $12-15 per margarita, there shouldn't be skimping), which was kind of annoying but they were good and went down easy. Overall I'd go back and had a really good experience. Good date spot too."

  • "This was my second time having brunch at Agave and once again I was impressed. The pre-fixe brunch special is great and includes your choice from a variety of egg dishes along with drinks. The service was attentive and my glass never went empty. I had the Southwestern Eggs Benedict with avocado and tomatoes and it was quite tasty. My dining companion had the Poached Eggs on Toasted Brioche and seemed to enjoy it. I definitely would recommend Agave for brunch and will be returning again the future."

  • "Great food. Great for large groups. I go for "boozy brunches" quite a bit and this place probably has the best food AND drinks that I've been do!"

  • "I was looking for a place to take my wife for our anniversary and I came across Agave. The food was great and the place had a good ambience. The main dining area is sunken down below ground, so it has that cozy feel. The server could have been a lil more attentive, but other than that great meal. I would go back when back in New York."

  • "We had a group of 14 for dinner. the service was excellent. the staff was attentive and we all evening. The food was very good everyone enjoyed their meal"

  • "One of the best brunches in the city! We had stellar service from multiple servers who constantly checked in on us. The food and drinks were served promptly and both were amazing - and how can you beat AYOD mimosas, bloody marys or margaritas?! Great experience all around. Will definitely return."
    Dined on 2/16/2014
  • "I've eaten here several times and the food is always good, but this time the service was bad. I'm not sure if they were understaffed this day, or what happened but it took us a long time to get refills, order dessert, and get the check. I'd still be tempted to return however because of the delicious food."

  • "Six of my friends and I came to Agave for an all-you-can-drink brunch. They are VERY strict on the 2 hours. Only 4 people sat down at first and thats when the 2 hours started even though the others hadn't arrived and they cut us off at the minute 2 hours was up. Food was as expected and drinks were fine as well- hard to screw up a mimosa. But good experience over all (or maybe thats just the AYCD talking)."

  • "I had never gone out for Valentine's Day before, but this restaurant provided the best experience I could have hoped for. The food is outstanding, and I didn't find the prices outrageous for the kind of service I was provided."
    Dined on 2/14/2014
  • "Over all it was a nice evening, but I just could not understand why the menu was so brutally limited due to Valentine's day. Pre fix menu was OK, but none of the usual dishes, which are really good, we're available. I was disappointed. Service, however, was as good as always."

  • "We had out first date at agave and decided to go back to celebrate valentines day. Being somewhat of a master when it comes to Mexican food in the city...agave never disappoints. Great guac. Quesadillas and tacos were amazing. Chips were a little "meh"-tasted like they were just out of a bag. But fabulous otherwise. Great service and he men who help clear tables/refill water/run food are beyond attentive and friendly."

  • "I went to Agave on a Tuesday night with friends. It was clearly a slow night for them, so the service was excellent! Great, friendly, attentive servers and excellent Margaritas! The Black Angus Skirt Steak Fajitas were AMAZING! Overall a great time."
    Dined on 2/11/2014
  • "I grabbed this reservation on the run, with no time to check the menu or reviews. We're big fans of Nuevo Mexican, but this chef appears inadequately grounded in the classics: the mole tasted more like barbecue sauce. Service is swift and friendly, but the semi-subterranean dining room is outshouted by the bar crowd."
    Dined on 2/9/2014
  • "This place is amazing, the hostess Laura was really sweet and our bartender Chris was the best! Bottomless Brunch is awesome. The food was really tasty and the drinks were flowing! Try the frozen margarita with mango pure."
    Dined on 2/9/2014
  • "seated a little late for our reservation, which was only a problem since the AYCD mimosas were ending soon. pitcher service at our table MORE than made up for it. the brunch menu had a good mixture of classics and southwest inspired food. the price for an entree and drinks was reasonable. will definitely be back."
    Dined on 2/8/2014
  • "The food is not top notch but it is pretty tasty and the portions are generous. The guacamole and tomatoes taste fresh. The frozen margaritas are mostly mix and the mimosas a tad on the weak side but my glass was never empty. Waiters were very attentive and even though brunch went from relaxed silence to the dull roar of a lively brunch crowd, we received fully attentive service as if we were the only ones in the restaurant."
    Dined on 2/2/2014
  • "They always have great food and drinks, and the service is quick and consistent. I had 2 appetizers for dinner and that was plenty. I'd highly recommend the Arte Negroni to drink - really great and made with rum!"
    Dined on 1/30/2014
  • "The menu has changed since I last went (no more shrimp quesadillas!) but I ordered the short rib tacos, which were a welcome replacement. Fun for a big group, great margaritas as always."
    Dined on 1/25/2014
  • "I recently went to brunch at Agave and the drinks were fantastic! The margaritas were strong and they were not shy at re-filling your glass. Two hours is the bottomless drink time frame, but our waiter was more than accommodating and attentive, so we were able to squeeze as many drinks as possible in. The food I had was so/so but the person I dined with loved their plate. Definitely a good place to check out for Brunch, but be sure to make a reservation as they were booked solid!"
