Afternoon Tea - The Urban Tea Merchant DowntownLovely for LadiesWe had a lovely table that was away from the other tables so it was very good conversation as we are soft spoken women. No children were present either so it made for a pleasant leisurely afternoon . Our server was very knowledgeable and helped us make our decisions. Two of us ordered the petite tea service and we had enough. Our other friends ordered the pear and Brie salad and prosciutto salad. The salads looked delicious and it was also plentiful. One of the staff recognized me even though my one other visit was in mid January - very impressive !7/4/2013 12:00:00 AMPeaceful place for a s get togetherI loved the peaceful feel of this place. I was able to enjoy the food while also being able to carry on a full conversation with my friend. Service was very attentive and polite and I felt we were taken good care of. The only downfall was probably the food. We paid a hefty amount (48 per person) for the signature tea that we felt wasn't really worth it. My favourites were the fresh chocolate scones and the flavourful chicken salad cone. The desserts were such a disappointment as nothing stood out. The madeline was dry and the tapioca pudding was bland. However, I do recommend this place for a small bridal or baby shower as the place was very simple and elegant.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMoverall good but not for babiesI took my friend for high tea for her bday. The food and tea selection was amazing! Service was great! My only surprise and disappointment was that they do not have any high chairs as I had brought my 16 month old along. I had to feed her in her stroller :(6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing SandwichesI order the Signature Tea Service absolutely love the sandwiches, savouries. However, I wasn't impressed by theirs sweets. Their desserts was way too sweet, especially the macaroon. I would recommend trying more of the savouries.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat for Mother's Day!After this great introduction, we're going to make high tea an annual occasion. Urban Tea Merchant has an incredible tea selection, cute little teapot suits of armor, and lots of tasty options on the trays. I work in the neighbourhood and will probably go back for lunch soon.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMQuality food, Awkward service...I am not one of those ppl that go to out to eat and cares about the server babysitting me throughout the whole service... but I do believe in coming around every once in awhile to fill up empty glasses or ask if everything is ok.... this didn't happen here at all. Our server left us alone and we ended up serving ourselves and calling other servers that would pass us for help. Needless to say, although I highly recommend more friendly and approachable service, the tea was fabulous and the food was worth the wait!!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGood Mother's DayThe food was pretty good for the Mother's Day Tea Service. They recommended teas for our table of three and everyone really liked theirs.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMPERFECT Mother's Day CelebrationWe have been taking our mom for Mother's Day high tea for the past four years. The urban tea merchant is the very first one which receives a thumb-up from mom. Her exact word was "let's come back next year!" We were so happy to hear that, and we recommend it to everyone who appreciate sips of tea and good food.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMExceptional Tea experience for 4We chose the Urban Tea Merchant for Mother's Day because of all of the great things we heard and read about it. We were certainly not disappointed. The Ambiance was lovely and the staff greeted us with enthusiasm and seemd excited for our experience.
We enjoyed selecting the teas and the food selection was delicious. The sandwhiches were very tasty, the scones were delicious and just when you thought you couldn't eat more? the miniature desserts were too tempting to pass on. This is a great spot to go with a girlfriend to simply indulge and catch up, a wedding shower, baby shower or a couple out on a special occassion. We loved it! and our parents were thrilled.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMThis tea salon never disappointsWe always enjoy our experience at the Urban Tea Merchant. The quality, service and atmosphere are consistently lovely.5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMNow for a little bit of relaxation:Yes, it can be $$$. But it is an opportunity to experience a calm, unhurried, very tasty afternoon. For that "special" meeting it IS the place to be.5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMGood service, outstanding food! The afternoon tea was great, food was exceptionally prepared. We arrived late to our reservation and we still ended up waiting for 10 mins before being seated. Otherwise, tea service was great. Our server, Alexia, was very patient with our tea selection!5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMAn oasis in the midst of downtownAfternoon Tea at the Tea Merchant is a lovely break from the hustle and bustle of downtown Vancouver. I have visited twice for the afternoon Tea Service, which includes a pot of tea and three tiers of tea-infused nibbles: finger sandwiches, scone with clotted cream and jam, and fruit with a sweet treat. The tea selection is seemingly endless. If you are looking for a quiet place for lunch, give the Urban Tea Merchant a try.4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMCame here for afternoon teaCame here for afternoon tea with friends. Everyone enjoyed their tea, food and experience and all agreed that they would come back. Everyone also found a tea they liked enough to buy and take home with them. The staff were all wonderful.2/17/2013 12:00:00 AM
