Afternoon Tea - The Fairmont Empress Hotel
Everything is better with story. This is my second time I have taken a grand daughter to the Empress High Tea for her 6th birthday. We make a day of it and come across on the ferry from Abbotsford. Definitely fit for a little princess. You make it very special! My granddaughter hasn't stopped talked about the day since.
Thank-you for the special tiers of fun food for a 6 year old. We had a lot of fun with the mad-haired cookie!
A couple of things that I missed this time: the waitress came and talked to my granddaughter about what high tea was - she told a story and made the event seem very special indeed. Our waiter this time was wonderful but he did not take the time to tell the story to Janessa.
I also missed the famous cucumber sandwiches!11/3/2013 12:00:00 AMA co-worker said that I can'tA co-worker said that I can't visit Victoria without having tea at the Empress Hotel. I am so glad that I did. My mother, brother, son, daughter, and I dressed up and had a "fancy" lunch. The service was great and very kid-friendly. The sandwiches, pastries, and tea were excellent. Would highly recommend.10/4/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had an absolutely splendidWe had an absolutely splendid tea and the salmon pinwheels were the best thing I've eaten in my life. Thankyouthankyouthankyou! Our service was wonderful and the Empress Blend tea was wonderful (we drank a pot and a half!)10/3/2013 12:00:00 AMEmpress teaSam, our waiter, has worked for The Empress since 1979 he informed us. He provided the best service and was so knowledgeable. He made the tea an even more special moment for my wife and I. This is a must do in Victoria. This will never get old no matter how many times you visit. Great view. Great food. Great service. A lot of fun.9/4/2013 12:00:00 AMAfternoon Tea at the Empress HotelThe platter was put together very well - quite a number of sweets compared to sandwhiches/scone.5/20/2013 12:00:00 AMCould Be NicerOkay, the tea room is in the gorgeous Empress Hotel. But it doesn't feel "regal". No table cloths and the china was pretty, but
the whole thing didn't feel special. Glad we did it, (my Daughter's birthday),. but wouldn't do it again or recommend it.5/20/2013 12:00:00 AMFit for a QueenAs if the Empress Hotel wasn't enough, to add the "High Tea" to the experience was just to special. Yes, it may be a Ladies Thing but what a way to treat that special women in your life.5/20/2013 12:00:00 AMEmpress Tea with my 11 year.Very impressive staff. Beautiful surroundings and view. Price a bit high. Did not like all the dishes being crashed into each other in the middle of the room. A bit annoying with the pleasant Piano player. Tough with a vegetarian, but was acknowledged and veggie sandwiches were brought. My daughter and I agreed that it was worth it, but wouldn't do it again. Maybe just not our style. Otherwise, lovely. Victoria was a delight to visit.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMEmpressI really enjoyed my experience at the Empress .I really felt as thoe i was in a different time frame it was a very exciting high tea.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMfantasticWe thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon tea at the Empress. We would highly recommend that anyone comes and enjoys it.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMSomething everyone shouldSomething everyone should experience at least once in their life5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMStunning! If you have the time when you are in Victoria, tea at The Empress is a must. The ambiance, presentation, and quality is unsurpassed.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Empress Hotel "High Tea"Going for High Tea at The Empress Hotel is a once in a lifetime thing to do. Very elegant restaurant with outstanding service. This beautiful hotel lives up to its reputation. An occasion to be remembered. I have been lucky enough to stay at this hotel as well as having a meal there and would highly recommend both. Very high class hotel, but yet the staff is pleasant and always helpful.5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat outing!I had a lovely afternoon lunch with a friend. We had great service, our server checked on us many times and always made sure out tea cups were full. I especially enjoyed the salmon sandwich and the marzapan and chocolate macaroon desserts. The ambience was very elegant, yet not too dressy. We enjoyed a nice view from a table by the window. I would recommend it to both visitors and locals for a special occasion lunch as it is expensive for one meal. However, with that said, it is a different and unique experience which is worth the price!5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMHi-Tea adventureA great experience to have hi-tea at the Empress Hotel. The tea and food was very good, however the cost was very expensive. However, my wife and I wanted to pay the price to have this experience at the Empress. The service was very good and we enjoyed our time at the Hi-Tea.5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent serviceYou can't beat the Empress for high tea. It was refined, but still casual. We came after spending the morning on the ferry and we were still in our blue jeans. We were initially concerned but we noticed we were not the only ones dressed casually. The service was great. I highly recommend it.5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing.I will bring my parents come next time for sure. Thank you for giving such a special memory!5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic!I was lucky enought to spend my 55th Birthday at the Empress having Afternoon Tea, with my wonderful husband.

We were at the Empress 30 years ago, and the quality of service then, as it is today, was admirable.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMgreat place to tryThe overall experience is outstanding. Even though a little pricy, totally worth a try.5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMVery Nice Way to Spend an AfternoonIf you are seated near one of the windows you get a nice view of the harbor with all the activities occurring. The atmosphere is very relaxed and the waiters can even provide fluffy pillows for your back (if you request) to make your seating more comfortable.5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMMy wife and I spent our 29thMy wife and I spent our 29th wedding anniversary at the Empress and loved having High Tea as a special celebration. The finger sandwiches were very nice and we especially loved the Scones. The desserts on the top of the the three tier platter were excellent. Overall we would recommend the High Tea to anyone planning a special occasion.5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMClassy!Loved being served hand and foot and feeling classy and special. I have a gluten sensitivity so they came out with a whole
tray of yummy gluten free items for me! The waiter was very attentive and the atmosphere was calm with live piano playing. If you're in Victoria it is a 'must do' experience.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMA special afternoonMy husband made the reservation for the two of us to have high tea at the Empress on a Saturday afternoon in May. It was a beautiful warm and sunny day, and the calm cool setting for the tea was perfect. Our server was knowledgeable and attentive. He was able to help my husband and I each select a tea that was perfect. The sandwiches, scones and pastries were beautiful and very delicious. They were so good we chose to buy the cookbook sold in the gift shop of the hotel.
I hope I get a chance to bring a friend or my daughter there for the exquisite experience.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMFirst classTook my mother there for her 80th birthday. She loved it, brought back a lot of memories of her grandmother. The setting was like a step back in time. The staff was friendly, knowledgable & very professional. The food was good & the presentation was exactly hoe we imagined . All in all it was well worth the time & money.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMA must-do when in VictoriaCanadian reverence and terrific service complement traditional afternoon tea.
