Afternoon Tea - The Fairmont Empress HotelEverything is better with story. This is my second time I have taken a grand daughter to the Empress High Tea for her 6th birthday. We make a day of it and come across on the ferry from Abbotsford. Definitely fit for a little princess. You make it very special! My granddaughter hasn't stopped talked about the day since.
Thank-you for the special tiers of fun food for a 6 year old. We had a lot of fun with the mad-haired cookie!
A couple of things that I missed this time: the waitress came and talked to my granddaughter about what high tea was - she told a story and made the event seem very special indeed. Our waiter this time was wonderful but he did not take the time to tell the story to Janessa.
I also missed the famous cucumber sandwiches!11/3/2013 12:00:00 AMA co-worker said that I can'tA co-worker said that I can't visit Victoria without having tea at the Empress Hotel. I am so glad that I did. My mother, brother, son, daughter, and I dressed up and had a "fancy" lunch. The service was great and very kid-friendly. The sandwiches, pastries, and tea were excellent. Would highly recommend.10/4/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had an absolutely splendidWe had an absolutely splendid tea and the salmon pinwheels were the best thing I've eaten in my life. Thankyouthankyouthankyou! Our service was wonderful and the Empress Blend tea was wonderful (we drank a pot and a half!)10/3/2013 12:00:00 AMEmpress teaSam, our waiter, has worked for The Empress since 1979 he informed us. He provided the best service and was so knowledgeable. He made the tea an even more special moment for my wife and I. This is a must do in Victoria. This will never get old no matter how many times you visit. Great view. Great food. Great service. A lot of fun.9/4/2013 12:00:00 AMCould Be NicerOkay, the tea room is in the gorgeous Empress Hotel. But it doesn't feel "regal". No table cloths and the china was pretty, but
the whole thing didn't feel special. Glad we did it, (my Daughter's birthday),. but wouldn't do it again or recommend it.5/20/2013 12:00:00 AMSomething everyone shouldSomething everyone should experience at least once in their life5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent serviceYou can't beat the Empress for high tea. It was refined, but still casual. We came after spending the morning on the ferry and we were still in our blue jeans. We were initially concerned but we noticed we were not the only ones dressed casually. The service was great. I highly recommend it.5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing.I will bring my parents come next time for sure. The atmosphere is very relaxed and the waiters can even provide fluffy pillows for your back (if you request) to make your seating more comfortable.5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMMy wife and I spent our 29thMy wife and I spent our 29th wedding anniversary at the Empress and loved having High Tea as a special celebration. Overall we would recommend the High Tea to anyone planning a special occasion.5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMClassy!Loved being served hand and foot and feeling classy and special. I have a gluten sensitivity so they came out with a whole
tray of yummy gluten free items for me! The waiter was very attentive and the atmosphere was calm with live piano playing. If you're in Victoria it is a 'must do' experience.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMA special afternoonMy husband made the reservation for the two of us to have high tea at the Empress on a Saturday afternoon in May. It was a beautiful warm and sunny day, and the calm cool setting for the tea was perfect. Our server was knowledgeable and attentive. He was able to help my husband and I each select a tea that was perfect. The sandwiches, scones and pastries were beautiful and very delicious. They were so good we chose to buy the cookbook sold in the gift shop of the hotel.
I hope I get a chance to bring a friend or my daughter there for the exquisite experience.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMFirst classTook my mother there for her 80th birthday.
