I always enjoy afternoon tea at
the Grand America. It was our 8th time there. However, there was a large group that arrived after us which forced the staff pulling multiple round tables together across the floor for this massive group and it just didn't look too great. It looked very cluttered and messy with little kids everywhere. Normally it is a very well organized relaxing atmosphere. Due to this big group our server was very slow and it was almost like we were forgotten for a while. It took a long time to get more hot water for the tea and also I wanted to order espresso but she bought our check before I had the chance to order. So when you are making reservations, ask if they have a big group booking. If so, avoid that day!"

I have met my girlfriends here and
this time, brought my mom and daughter for tea. There is variety of tastes from the sandwiches to dessert. They even made special kid sandwiches for my daughter. The service is always friendly, professional, and helpful! The Grand is a fun and beautiful place to experience afternoon tea."

Took my Granddaughter to afternoon
tea for her 7th birthday and it was a great experience. Blair was our server and he made sure that everything was taken care of and made her feel special with a rose for her birthday. I would highly recommend Afternoon Tea at Grand America for anyone looking for something special or just to get out and relax with friends."

My sister and I took our 11 year
daughters to afternoon tea. It was magical. A harpist playing. A beautiful view of the garden. Delicious tea and cocoa for the girls. The table was set lovely with real china and linens. The little trays of finger sandwiches, scones, pastries and candies was divine. And we were so full when we left we skipped dinner that night. The macaroons are to die for! They even brought out "kid" sandwiches for the girls. It is meant to be a leisurely experience so they bring out the different courses at a nice slow pace. Plenty of time to visit and take pics. Lady GaGa was even staying there! Everyone should experience tea at the Grand America!"

Took my nieces and daughter to
afternoon tea at the Grand America. A tradition we've maintained since the tea-room opened. What a lovely time we had. The food was very nice, different than we've had before, but changing things up is a good thing. And the service was impeccable. When our server, Blair (Blaine?) discovered that my one niece was a first-timer, he was particularly gracious and accommodating."

The individual tea pot is too
small. When a refill of hot water is brought, more tea should be added. The amount of tea was not enough to enjoy along with the servings of food. Next time I will bring my own tea bag for the extra hot water offered. Paying $20 should not mean that I have to bring my own tea."

We had afternoon tea at the Grand
America Hotel to celebrate my daughter's birthday. What an amazing experience. The food was delicious, the service was top notch, and the attention to details was amazing. Make sure that you go to your tea party with an empty stomach because by the time you leave you will be stuffed with all of the finger sandwiches and sweets . The teas and hot chocolates will be in your memory for days. The atmosphere is very sophisticated with live harp music playing in the background and beautiful gardens views. The staff surprised us by wishing my daughter a happy birthday and giving her a rose. Thank you for making this birthday a wonderful memory! Definitely a girls day out that everyone should experience!"

My best friend and I took our
girls to Afternoon Tea service, so as to have a fun and new experience for them during summer break. The Tea Room was lovely and bright. The staff was warm and pleasant. Our server explained the different Tea options quite well, and even brought out special sandwiches for the girls (for whom the traditional tea fare was a little avant garde for their pallets) without any special request on my part. The girls loved dressing up and having a posh Tea. My friend and I both resounding agreed that we should come back (sans children) as frequently as possible. If you are looking for a relaxing afternoon oasis, I highly recommend Afternoon Tea at the Grand America!"

I took my three 16-years-old grand
nieces here to High Tea. Of course the girls were impressed out of their minds. The tier selections were good, the desserts rich and varied. I thought it was very nice except for the lack luster service. The 3:30 seating was not busy. We waited several minutes to be seated. I finally flagged down a staff member from the bar service area, the first of many times during our two hour stay that service fell short. The starter was lacking two servings. Wave down the server. It was a chore to get water refills. No additional hot water was ever offered. Come on! Tea is an experience! The service should be intuitive and unobtrusive and allow focus to be completely on conversation and the lovely surroundings."

I made reservations online via the
hotel website. When we got there, we waited at the entrance for some time with no one helping us. So I went to the hotel front desk to find someone to help us. The front desk clerk told me to walk up to the bar and ask for help. After I walked through the tea sitting area to the bar I found the workers there and informed them of our reservations. They accommodated my party change of four to five and the rest of the service was outstanding after that. We all enjoyed ourselves and everything about it. We have been to tea at other hotels and tea houses and this was one of the best. The selections of tea, sandwiches, and desserts were five stars all the way."

Afternoon Tea at the Grand America
Hotel was a delightful way to spend an afternoon with two of my teen-age granddaughters. The tea, sandwiches, and desserts were delicious; I recommend the coco chai herb tea. We felt pampered by our own, personal waiter. My favorite part, though, was the incredibly beautiful harp music performed by Hannah Cope. She played classical, jazz, and show tunes with incredible skill and musicality. An elegant setting added to the enjoyment. It was a great place to experience. Nice job!"

My girlfriends and I went to tea
for a bridal shower and we had outstanding customer service. It is a beautiful quiet place and very relaxing. The tea we enjoyed is the best I've had so far and the food was lovely. They had a wonderful harp player also."

I more than enjoyed my experience
having afternoon tea at the Grand America. The food was great and delivered in a timely fashion. The only improvement I would suggest would be to be more watchful of the front. I was waiting there for a couple of minutes before anyone came to sit us. But the food was completely worth the wait!"

We had a wonderful time at
afternoon yes. The food was pretty and delicious and it was a really good time."

Dan was our waiter and he was so
amazing. He knew his stuff and told us about each tray and each food item. We had so much fun. The food, tea and service were so great we can't wait to return."

Being a tea fanatic, I thoroughly
enjoyed my time spent at Afternoon Tea. I brought my good friend who is moving across the country there for our last little "hoorah" and it couldn't have been a more enjoyable time. Our waiter, Blair, was just fantastic!"

What a delightful experience! I
brought my mom and sister to Afternoon Tea. A friend told me that you go for the experience and not to feel full. We all agreed we would go to tea and then find a fast food restaurant after if we needed to. The atmosphere was absolutely elegant and the food was amazing and we discussed every bite with each other. We were crazy about the dessert selection and we each got a different tea so we could sample each. We took our time and never felt rushed. Our server was kind enough to take our picture so we could remember this stunning afternoon. And surprise! We were completely stuffed afterwards. We plan on making this a tradition! "

This is a great experience and
very reasonably priced. The service and the atmosphere was wonderful, the food superb. Most of us (4/5) had hot chocolate instead of tea and it was amazing. Great for special events, birthdays, showers, out of town guests, etc."

assortment of tasty foods and desserts."

For the price and location I
expected better. This is the second time I have done Afternoon Tea. The first time, was a weekday; the food and tea was good, the noise level was okay, but the sitting arrangement was awkward. This last time was a weekend and was not pleasant. Again, food and tea was fine, but the setting did not work. The weekend seemed to be the time for tea, it was noisy and with the way the seating worked it was hard to hear the conversation around the (still) awkward seating. Also the service was no as smooth as the first time. Water was spilt on our table and one of our party and heard two other incidents dropped or broken glasses. "
Dined on 5/18/2014
The experience is visually
stunning, of course, but the food was lacking. The sandwiches were either made early that morning. That was very disappointing. With caliber level of the Grand America we expected more. They were stale and obviously not fresh. The desserts were good, although the Madeline's were also not fresh. My only other quarrel, which wasn't that big of a deal but did distract from the experience, was seating. They mixed groups of people having business meetings around those of us there for tea. That was a little annoying. It would have been easy, and nice, has they separated those who were there paying for a tea service and those there for a drink and business discussion. "

Afternoon High Tea at the Grand
America has been an annual tradition for two friends and our daughters, all with birthdays in the same month. The daughters were cute little girls when we started, and have now grown into lovely young ladies attending college. The High Tea service has essentially not changed over that decade and that is a very good thing. It provides a beautiful opportunity to relax and spend quality time together, while being served in style."

This is the second time I've gone
for tea time and it was just as enchanting as I remember it being the first time. I love the ambiance of Grand America and having tea is the perfect thing for taking time out and treating yourself. We did have to wait a bit to be served, but there were other groups who came in before us and once we were served, the waiters were wonderful!"

Exceptional affordable bit of
luxury, from the fine china, attentive service, tasty teas, local cheeses, bites and sweets. Lovely, civilized way to spend an afternoon. A real treat. "

I really enjoy going to high tea
with friends, and have been doing this for years-in Vancouver, Richmond, Miami, even Montgomery, AL. This was my first visit to The Grand America Hotel, and I plan to go again, soon. It's a perfect place for friends to gather and enjoy an afternoon of conversation, tea and a lovely selection of dainty foods."

One of the most magical
experiences of my life. Everything was so fancy and delicious and I wouldn't hesitate to go everyday if I could. It was just so good."

We started doing Afternoon Tea
several years ago. We thought we would do it once but have enjoyed it so much that we do it every year as a mother/daughter special occasion."

We've been to high tea at the
Grand America a few times and really enjoy it for special occasions. This time the price was a little more and the food was good, but there have been other visits when the food was more memorable than this time. Overall, it is always a relaxing and self-pampering experience that we love."

It was my first time to the Grand
America Hotel what a beautiful place. We attended the Afternoon Tea was a very fun event to go to. Had a lovely time. The food and desserts were very nice. Also nice that they were able to meet my gluten free diet."

What a wonderful experience for a
beautiful Sunday afternoon! The hotel is breathtaking in and of itself. The service was A + from the Valet to the hotel manager to the gift shop employees to the registration clerk to the tea room attendant to our server Mr. Blair! Who was absolutely perfect for the position on every way. I would most definitely ask for him again! The choice of tea was unbelievable! The sandwiches were very tasty and of a nice variety. The desserts were delicious and lovely to look at. The ambiance was amazing! Thank you for a very memorable experience. I will be back!"

My 8 yr old daughter and I really
enjoyed ourselves at the Afternoon tea. It was her first time having a real tea time and she was just enchanted. The harp in the background, the friendly waitress, and the tea were just wonderful. All the food was the perfect size and had some real creativity. Some of the little sandwiches weren't really our style. The salmon rolls, we don't like fish; the chicken salad sandwiches had a little too much red pepper, and the cucumber sandwiches tasted a little off with the olive & pimentos on top. But all and all the PB & J and all the other sandwiches were just delicious! Our waitress was a really sweetie and the desserts were amazing."
Dined on 3/2/2014
The atmosphere and food were both
exquisite, they serve nothing but the highest quality food and drink and pair it off with outstanding service! If you're looking for a unique experience like no other, then I highly recommend this to anyone looking for something for a special occasion!"

We wanted a memorable and
dellicious birthday celebration for mother - daughter date.....we were not disappointed in any way....we were running a little late and Open Table made it easy to change the reservation.....the table with a view was waiting.....The chef even accomnodated my daughter's vegetarian needs with his special touch! Will look forward to the next time we enjoy Afternoon Tea!"
Dined on 2/3/2014
The hotel, ambience, and service
was wonderful. The harp was played beautifully. But, the bread on the sandwiches was dry and the salmon rolls were not good. The Afternoon Tea is over priced. If it was less expensive we would come more often. Thank you."

This was just a lovely time with
my friend. It was peaceful with the Harp playing in the background and the snow flurres outside the window in the garden. I look forward to coming another time- great place to bring visiting friends."

This is one of my go-to special
occasion experiences. The setting is elegant, the harp music relaxing. The menu is a just right sampler of sandwiches and desserts. The tea menu offered many options. We all tried something different and nobody was disappointed. The service was friendly and helpful."
