Later, a delectable array of freshly baked scones (served with homemade strawberry jam and Devonshire cream), flaky pastries, rich tortes, and delightful petit fours await your pleasure.

  • Beautiful setting, ok food & tea

Beautiful setting with nice harp music, but the quality of food and tea made this not worth it. I really enjoy high tea, but this time I left wishing I'd spent my precious afternoon away from fqmily doing some thing else. My first cup of tea tasted terrible... Like the water had been sitting in a pot that often holds coffee ... Sort of a coffee- tinged tea. Waitress kindly brought a second cup which did not have coffee flavor but was a very un-flavorful version of earl grey. Waitress assured me it was earl grey, suggested maybe it tasted different because it was organic. (I drink a lovely, quality organic tea almost every day, that wasnt the issue). Food fine but not special either. All in all, wish I'd spent the afternoon elsewhere.

My husband and I took our daughter here for her 6th birthday. We reserved a spot for the 1:00 tea, arrived, and were seated at a small "reserved" table overlooking the gardens and fountains. We were each able to order a tea or hot chocolate, which were brought out in small tea pots that they replenished throughout the meal. (I got the coco chai roiboos and it was amazing.) They served small sandwiches (with a special plate of more "kid friendly" ones for our daughter), followed by desserts. Everything tasted incredible. Soft piano music played in the background. I was surprised that, being open to the lobby, it wasn't louder. At the end, they brought my daughter a red rose. Is it expensive? Yes. Yes, it is. Is it absolutely perfect? YES.

I really enjoyed how the afternoon tea ambience and service made me feel high class for a day. I was worried that the fact I brought my one-year-old would cause problems with the the staff, but they found me a high chair and actually interacted with her a little which she loved. I truly enjoyed my time there. The only request I would have is that I wish there had been a short list of single items maybe "add ons" that I could have chosen from to feed my one-year-old, instead of just feeding her off my plate. At the same time, I know that this is not usually the setting one brings babies, so I understand why there isn't something like that. Thank you!

I always enjoy afternoon tea at the Grand America. It was our 8th time there. However, there was a large group that arrived after us which forced the staff pulling multiple round tables together across the floor for this massive group and it just didn't look too great. It looked very cluttered and messy with little kids everywhere. Normally it is a very well organized relaxing atmosphere. Due to this big group our server was very slow and it was almost like we were forgotten for a while. It took a long time to get more hot water for the tea and also I wanted to order espresso but she bought our check before I had the chance to order. So when you are making reservations, ask if they have a big group booking. If so, avoid that day!

I have met my girlfriends here and this time, brought my mom and daughter for tea. There is variety of tastes from the sandwiches to dessert. They even made special kid sandwiches for my daughter. The service is always friendly, professional, and helpful! The Grand is a fun and beautiful place to experience afternoon tea.

I would highly recommend Afternoon Tea at Grand America for anyone looking for something special or just to get out and relax with friends.

My sister and I took our 11 year daughters to afternoon tea. It was magical. A harpist playing. A beautiful view of the garden. Delicious tea and cocoa for the girls. The table was set lovely with real china and linens. The little trays of finger sandwiches, scones, pastries and candies was divine. And we were so full when we left we skipped dinner that night. The macaroons are to die for! They even brought out "kid" sandwiches for the girls. It is meant to be a leisurely experience so they bring out the different courses at a nice slow pace. Plenty of time to visit and take pics. Lady GaGa was even staying there! Everyone should experience tea at the Grand America!

Took my nieces and daughter to afternoon tea at the Grand America. A tradition we've maintained since the tea-room opened. What a lovely time we had. The food was very nice, different than we've had before, but changing things up is a good thing. And the service was impeccable. When our server, Blair (Blaine?) discovered that my one niece was a first-timer, he was particularly gracious and accommodating.

The individual tea pot is too small. When a refill of hot water is brought, more tea should be added. The amount of tea was not enough to enjoy along with the servings of food. Next time I will bring my own tea bag for the extra hot water offered. Paying $20 should not mean that I have to bring my own tea.

We had afternoon tea at the Grand America Hotel to celebrate my daughter's birthday. What an amazing experience. The food was delicious, the service was top notch, and the attention to details was amazing. Make sure that you go to your tea party with an empty stomach because by the time you leave you will be stuffed with all of the finger sandwiches and sweets . The teas and hot chocolates will be in your memory for days. The atmosphere is very sophisticated with live harp music playing in the background and beautiful gardens views. The staff surprised us by wishing my daughter a happy birthday and giving her a rose. Thank you for making this birthday a wonderful memory! Definitely a girls day out that everyone should experience!

My best friend and I took our girls to Afternoon Tea service, so as to have a fun and new experience for them during summer break. The Tea Room was lovely and bright. The staff was warm and pleasant. Our server explained the different Tea options quite well, and even brought out special sandwiches for the girls (for whom the traditional tea fare was a little avant garde for their pallets) without any special request on my part. The girls loved dressing up and having a posh Tea. My friend and I both resounding agreed that we should come back (sans children) as frequently as possible. If you are looking for a relaxing afternoon oasis, I highly recommend Afternoon Tea at the Grand America!

I took my three 16-years-old grand nieces here to High Tea. Of course the girls were impressed out of their minds. The tier selections were good, the desserts rich and varied. I thought it was very nice except for the lack luster service. The 3:30 seating was not busy. We waited several minutes to be seated. I finally flagged down a staff member from the bar service area, the first of many times during our two hour stay that service fell short. The starter was lacking two servings. Wave down the server. It was a chore to get water refills. No additional hot water was ever offered. Come on! Tea is an experience! The service should be intuitive and unobtrusive and allow focus to be completely on conversation and the lovely surroundings.

I made reservations online via the hotel website. When we got there, we waited at the entrance for some time with no one helping us. So I went to the hotel front desk to find someone to help us. The front desk clerk told me to walk up to the bar and ask for help. After I walked through the tea sitting area to the bar I found the workers there and informed them of our reservations. They accommodated my party change of four to five and the rest of the service was outstanding after that. We all enjoyed ourselves and everything about it. We have been to tea at other hotels and tea houses and this was one of the best. The selections of tea, sandwiches, and desserts were five stars all the way.

Afternoon Tea at the Grand America Hotel was a delightful way to spend an afternoon with two of my teen-age granddaughters. The tea, sandwiches, and desserts were delicious; I recommend the coco chai herb tea. We felt pampered by our own, personal waiter. My favorite part, though, was the incredibly beautiful harp music performed by Hannah Cope. She played classical, jazz, and show tunes with incredible skill and musicality. An elegant setting added to the enjoyment. It was a great place to experience. Nice job!

I more than enjoyed my experience having afternoon tea at the Grand America. The food was great and delivered in a timely fashion. What a delightful experience! I brought my mom and sister to Afternoon Tea. A friend told me that you go for the experience and not to feel full. We all agreed we would go to tea and then find a fast food restaurant after if we needed to. The atmosphere was absolutely elegant and the food was amazing and we discussed every bite with each other. We were crazy about the dessert selection and we each got a different tea so we could sample each. We took our time and never felt rushed. Our server was kind enough to take our picture so we could remember this stunning afternoon. And surprise! We were completely stuffed afterwards. We plan on making this a tradition!

For the price and location I expected better. This is the second time I have done Afternoon Tea. The first time, was a weekday; the food and tea was good, the noise level was okay, but the sitting arrangement was awkward. This last time was a weekend and was not pleasant. Again, food and tea was fine, but the setting did not work. The weekend seemed to be the time for tea, it was noisy and with the way the seating worked it was hard to hear the conversation around the (still) awkward seating. Also the service was no as smooth as the first time. Water was spilt on our table and one of our party and heard two other incidents dropped or broken glasses.

The experience is visually stunning, of course, but the food was lacking. The sandwiches were either made early that morning. That was very disappointing. With caliber level of the Grand America we expected more. They were stale and obviously not fresh. The desserts were good, although the Madeline's were also not fresh. My only other quarrel, which wasn't that big of a deal but did distract from the experience, was seating. They mixed groups of people having business meetings around those of us there for tea. That was a little annoying. It would have been easy, and nice, has they separated those who were there paying for a tea service and those there for a drink and business discussion.

Afternoon High Tea at the Grand America has been an annual tradition for two friends and our daughters, all with birthdays in the same month. The daughters were cute little girls when we started, and have now grown into lovely young ladies attending college. The High Tea service has essentially not changed over that decade and that is a very good thing. It provides a beautiful opportunity to relax and spend quality time together, while being served in style.

My 8 yr old daughter and I really enjoyed ourselves at the Afternoon tea. It was her first time having a real tea time and she was just enchanted. The harp in the background, the friendly waitress, and the tea were just wonderful. All the food was the perfect size and had some real creativity. Some of the little sandwiches weren't really our style. The salmon rolls, we don't like fish; the chicken salad sandwiches had a little too much red pepper, and the cucumber sandwiches tasted a little off with the olive & pimentos on top. But all and all the PB & J and all the other sandwiches were just delicious! Our waitress was a really sweetie and the desserts were amazing.
