It is wonderful for all different types of occasions and is absolutely beautiful. We enjoyed the house Oolong and Jasimine - both which were very good. We had cucumber, tuna and eggsalad sandwiches. Two different delighfully sinful scones and several pastries. On request they brought us some delicous capriese tea sandwiches. Refills of sandwiches were complimentary. A three piece jazz ensemble played for most of the two hours we were there. Tea is served in the lobby on small tea tables, sofas and chairs. The wait staff was friendly and checked on us often. My friend and I are so pleased that we did this even though it's not something I would normally choose to do. Our server was Issac and was so nice to us! He must have found out from open table that it was my moms birthday an the piano player started playing happy birthday and gave her a cheesecake!!! As usual the staff was incredibly friendly, the pianist was charming and the tea and snacks were delicious! After almost two hours had past, my friend and I both reflected on how time seems to be suspended at the Brown Palace and can get away from you. This was also my five month old daughter's first tea experience and she was a hit with the staff, of course. Servers were friendly but not obtrusive.
There were 3 of us and we were not impressed with the pumpernickel sandwiches (dry) and we preferred the little egg sandwiches of the past instead of the little shells used that day. The caramel apple thingy was not delicious.....

The food was done to perfection and sized as appropriate for a tea. Though we were is Colorado, if you closed your eyes, we could have been at the Plaza in NY or Raffles in Singapore. She loves the ambiance and especially the music. Both the pianist and harpist acknowledged her interest with special attention. The servers were the best part. Brown Palace can be proud of their staff from the doormen to the concierge to the lady giving the tour afterwards. The food is delicious and the service is outstanding. I didn't tell the staff it's my friends birthday but they noticed the gift I gave. They brought out a cupcake with candle and had the pianist play happy birthday I really appreciate their attention to details and the polite/proper responses to all our requests. Seated in the stately lobby of the Brown Palace hotel, watching the world go by and enjoying a full English tea from sandwiches to pastries, we reminisced about her visits to the hotel with my grandparents long ago. The Brown Palace's own tea blend reminded me that I do like good tea...enough so that we purchased cans to take home with us. The scones were fresh and served--of course--with devonshire cream. The treats made with care and the sandwiches beautiful and tasty. Service was elegant and attentive and we felt well cared for. What a lovely afternoon.3/13/2013 12:00:00 AM
