Atmosphere was elegant, quiet and comfortable. The food was very, very good, however they serve small portions. The waiter should expound on that fact and suggest that guests pick several things to eat; a soup, a salad and an entree or two.... (you might want to pick one entree and then share another with your dinning companion). In this way you are able to experience several dishes and leave feeling satisfied.

Keep in mind these are small plates but when combined into 4 courses it adds up to perfection. Try the prezel bread sticks and the brats as appetizers. The beet salad and the Oktoberfest are also great starters. My favorite item is Edelfisch Allerlei (assorted seafood) in liaison with lemon risotto 15. My dining companion went traditional, he ordered Sauerbraten: red wine marinated beef in sweet and sour sauce, potato dumpling, apple compote 19 for his entree and loved it. The service and attention is excellent. At the end of your meal, try the espresso. It is presented and served old world style. the attention to detail is exquisite. parking, so could walk to Sprint Center event afterward. An excellent experience, different from anything

Perhaps this was a 'german' style of risotto that I was unfamiliar with, but it was not up to standards. That said, we had the edelfisch and rosemary lamb; delicious and succulent. We followed that up with the Apfelstrudel, great ending to an already good night.

The only negative was we didn't like the flavor of the roast beef, but that was no fault of the restaurants, sometimes you just don't like something.

It is a small plate format. the small portion size means you can have two courses and even dessert and not be uncomfortable. The service was helpful and attentive, but not intrusive or rushed. This will be our go-to place for a specila night out from now on. The service staff is knowledgeable and helpful, which adds to the overall experience. Victor was our server this last time and we enjoyed his familiarity and knowledge of fine wines. Affare has quickly become a top favorite for us in KC. We had the groupon to assist in getting us there and immediately after dining found a living social coupon which we quickly bought! The dishes are artistic and delicious - we enjoyed every bite! Location is a bit different (knowing it's history), but they've really taken it to a new, higher level. We will most certainly return and cannot wait to get back.
