Adour at St. Regis Washington DCSuperbly Executed RestaurantSad Adour is closing. When for dinner on a Tuesday and thoroughly enjoyed the meal. My date and I shared an appetizer of the pasta which was very flavorful and lively. I had the duck as an entree while my date had the NY Strip. Both proteins were cooked flawlessly. While I've had more exciting duck preparations, this one was classic and I enjoyed it thoroughly. We also split the mac and cheese which was creamy and cheesy, but not greasy; just what a mac and cheese should be. Had the "Our Baba" for dessert and while I usually find babas a bit lackluster, the use of Armagnac in place of the traditional rum really made the dish. Overall, very enjoyable experience.5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMRough beginning AdourThis was one of the top restaurants listed for DC that I visited. I must say I was a little disappointed in it.For being in the St. Regis I thought the dining could have been a little more upscale. It was very modern with no table cloths unlike Marcel's which was much nicer for this price range. The server placed the menu on the table and I don't think was going to ask if I wanted a drink until I spoke up. When I asked for a VO manhattan he looked very puzzled and said he had never heard of it before. I was then informed they did not stock it! We substituted another brand and was not done to my liking. Finally the matre'd intervened and said he knew how to do it properly. Aside from this the rest of the evening was fine food wise.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMRomance and ambianceThe service was impeccable, the food was delicious, and the ambiance was something special. You pay for it all, of course, as it's quite pricey. I thoroughly enjoyed it. No regrets.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMI had the 5 course optionI had the 5 course option which was the restaurant's choice for the courses. It was an outstanding combination of dishes. The dessert was a raspberry sorbet plus that was excellent.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMAdour must have been the bestAdour must have been the best restaurant I've eaten at. The food was outstanding and the service was on par with it, which is not so common.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMBeautiful ambiance with sophisticatBeautiful ambiance with sophisticated friendly and responsive server staff. The food descriptions and recommendations were perfectly on point. I had a leisurely experience in a quiet setting with a lovely street view. The interior architecture and appointments are tasteful and elegant. All considered this was one of the best experiences of my 2 day trip. Culinary Par Excellence! I ordered a Lobster Cookpot with Basil and Lobster Cappuccino and Rhubarb three ways. A gelee, ice cream and custard tart with a heavenly caramelized meringue. As a "gift" I received chocolate truffles and almond financiers. Finished with a cup of perfect black coffee. Tres magnifique! Merci!4/9/2013 12:00:00 AMSimply the best dinner we'veSimply the best dinner we've had, the staff paid attention with such detail as it was my wife's and I anniversary. We started with the king crab salad which was totally unexpected/refreshing, then of course the fois gras which obviously at an Alan Ducasse restaurant was impeccable, we then shared the veal ragu which was without a doubt the best pasta dish we've ever had, then the baked lobster which again was a total surprise with generous amounts of lobster and again easily the best lobster dish we've had, ending the entree portion with the duck breast which was perfection, to top it all off we finished with the award winning hazelnut soufflé and a strawberry dish that was indescribable!4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMAdore was good, but not the bestThe chef's tasting menu, 5-course, was certainly tasty, with a nice balance of offerings. We found, however; the flow or palate to be inconsistent across courses. Each course, in-and-of-it's self, was very nice, however, as a collection, there was little flow. The service was excellent, however a little slow between courses. Some small attention to details were overlooked. Although the dining room was only 3/4 full, each of the service staff had such a sense of urgency, walking very quickly, a lot of movement, that it made us feel a bit uncomfortable. I do not mean to state, however; that we felt rushed...it just wasn't a very relaxing dinner. Also, very loud atmosphere.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AM**NO** vegetarian entrees.**NO** vegetarian entrees. I ordered the Adour Signature Cookpot (an appetizer) for my main course; it was small, bland and disappointing. The roasted chestnut velouté had a beautiful presentation with just okay flavor. The little cheese puff starters were delicious. Our table also enjoyed the bread served with the cheese course as well as the green olive rolls. The hazelnut soufflé with orange-ginger granita was a spectacular finish for dessert.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of the ten best placesOne of the ten best places in the DC area. The duck breast a l'orange is a beautiful dish.3/2/2013 12:00:00 AM
