Diner Reviews
  • "As always, great food and great service! Food is plentiful and I always order too much. The desserts are great!"

  • "What a great place! The ade at your table guacamole was out of this world! The Sangria pitcher was very cool and so tasty! Kyle out server was fabulous!"

  • "We often take out-of-town guest to 2nd City as a Chicago experience and my wife and I took a colleague who was in from London to Adobo and 2nd City on a Sunday night. The valet parking is very convenient and cost's less than the garage attached to the building, although there was only one valet working. With a 7 PM show, we had a 5:30 PM reservation and were promptly seated. We all enjoyed our food 9quacamole, streak, salmon, and enchiladas) was very good, and as noted by other reviewers, the service was good but a bit rushed. Since we were going to the show, we didn't mind the quick service."

  • "Very hectic dining experience. While enjoying our margarita and guacamole and chips (maybe 10 minutes) the bus boy came over to remove our plates and food. We explained that we were still eating and he said our food was coming so he removed the plates anyway. We insisted he leave the chips and guacamole. The food did not arrive for at least another 10 or 15 minutes. We felt very rushed from the moment we arrived until we left. The busboy was always checking our table to see if he could remove our plates while we were still eating. We are not slow eaters!"

  • "We were seated immediately, the food came at just the right time and was delicious, and our service was impeccable. We took our 5 year old and 10 year old and they had a great time, too."

  • "I'm not appear vegetarian, but I'm trying to listen. I'm dobros vegetarian enchiladas were absolutely fantastic. The maid at your table guacamole was also outstanding."

  • "Adobo Grill never disappoints! We came in on a Thursday evening and although the restaurant was relatively full, we were still able to be seated 15 minutes early. Our server was intuitive and knowledgable and every dish we ordered was made to perfection."

  • "Love the food, perfect sizes. Service is always spot on and attentive. Appreciated since many people come here prior to shows."

  • "Quac made at your table! Very good. A group of girls went here before going to Second City. We had prompt seating, and good service."

  • "We loved the food. I especially liked the "tacos de pescado." The fish was nicely cooked in the batter and the batter was crispy, they way it should be. We went there with our niece from out of town and she was very excited to see the guacamole made at the table, but the person making it was far away, so my niece didn't get to experience that. The service was excellent, however. I only give it 4 stars because the noise level was pretty bad. The music was loud, so everybody was kind of yelling. It was hard to hear each other."

  • "Front the moment we stepped in the service was great! Staff are nice friendly and very know legible. Guacamole station right to the table was a nice treat. After dinner we sat at the bar for more Margaritas and a tequila flight."

  • "This is a place where each time I have gone the food and the service has always been great! The carna asada is always cooked to perfection and that table side guacamole is the best! Mmmmm Good!"

  • "I have been to Adobo Grill often over the years but had not been for awhile. I really unjoyed the upbeat, energetic atmosphere and service. Also, it is not often I have 'Mexican'. I like that Adobo has an interesting, healthy twist to thier offerings. As always, we had the delicious, fresh guacamole. I had a crispy enchilda 'pizza'. My friend had the Skirt steak and Sangria. Everything was really good except maybe my enchilda could have had more flavor and more avocados. It could have been that I had the chorizo substituted with crimini mushrooms since I do not eat meat...I had the other half last night and added avocodos and fresh, chopped salsa."

  • "The food is really good and the tableside making of guacamole is made to your liking. It's fabulous! The fish tacos are very good and the margaritas are outstanding too. What can I say......I like this place and it's a great location for going to The Second City."

  • "Great food, but felt rushed to order. When we did, order, food came out too fast . Had no time eat/finish the appetizer."

  • "We were heading to Second City. Looked up this which was in the same building. The good was great, we never had to go outside for parking or the show and the atmosphere was excellent! Great evening!"

  • "I've been here multiple times and always had a great experience, but this last time the service was I attentive or overbearing and not knowledgable at all about the food, which matters because I have allergies. Instead of telling me I couldn't eat what I ordered, even after I asked, he just changed the dish in the kitchen to not be really what I ordered, which was frustrating. If I couldn't eat it as is, he should have told me so I could order something else, not pay full price to only get half the food. I'll be back, but I hope I have a better waiter next time."

  • "Our cocktails were shaken at the table and served ice cold- the classic margarita is fabulous. Our guacamole was made table-side (they are known for this) it was perfectly fresh. My entree (shrimp tacos) were so tasty with a fresh cilantro mayo. I would order them again. Service was impeccable."

  • "Have eaten at Adobo three times now and always please. Their margaritas, made-at-your-tableside guac, and Tlayuda are my favorite things to enjoy with my boyfriend. Never been disappointed by an experience here!"

  • "The food was excellent when it made it top the table, otherwise no complaints and I anticipate returning next month for the tequila dinner again."

  • "Good food, overall, good experience. The guac prepared at the table was OK, could've been a little more flavorful. Not too expensive. Cool atmosphere."

  • "Went to Adobo Grill before seeing a show at Second City-so convenient its hard to pass up. Its a little pricier than other Mexican places but with more innovative dishes and the fun tableside guacamole its worth the experience!"

  • "My husband and I were in town for a weekend get away and decided to try Adobe Grill for dinner. We both absolutely loved it! We made reservations through the internet and were seated promptly. The service was AMAZING, you are never waiting for a refill on anything from water to chips. Food was excellent as well. We loved the guacamole, and my entree of Vegetarian Enchiladas was so good. We would definitely come back when in Chicago again!"

  • "We had been recommended by several friends to try eating here. Start with their house margarita, delicious. Try an order of the guacamole. They bring a cart by your table and make it fresh in front of you!"

  • "Adobo grill is a favorir for good mexican food and good drinks. We have visited Adobo several times. This time we visited for restaurant week. Every course was great, starting with the chicken tamales, which were tasty with just the right amount of spice. For my entree I had the carne asada. It was delicious and filling, served with a cheese enchilada, with mole sauce, black beans, and guacamole. For desert we had tres leche. HEAVEN. And the house margarita was the icing on the cake. We love Adobo, and make it a point to get back often."

  • "Food was fine and priced well. Not sure it's kid friendly as I come in with 2 kids and we always get seated in the corner by the bathroom. Looks more to be a college or young professional's place to eat. Good thing is my daughter loves the food so we go there when we can."

  • "I was dissapointed by my experience at Adobo. My friend and I didn't order drinks or an appetizer, in result we were ignored the entire meal. My plate was taken away from me while I was eating and they seemed rushed to get us out of there. The food was just okay and the portion was small."

  • "Haven't been there in a while and glad we made it back to Adobo on Sunday evening after show at UP. Will go again."

  • "I had fish tacos, which were delectable. The real treat was the table-side, fresh-made, customized guac. The house margarita was pretty decent, though I came in with high expectations so it wasn't quite on par with what I was hoping for based on what I heard from others who had dined at Adobo previously and recommended the margaritas."

  • "Is nice place , very good mexican food & the best margaritas"

  • "Arrived late brunch looking for dinner menu on Sunday. Was accommodated. A beautifully decorated place and the food was good. Flavors a lil under pronounced and char on carne asada flavored more than steak. Would return. Overall a good choice in my book."
