We celebrated our anniversary at Addison, and after reading several reviews, we were anticipating a wonderful dining experience. We certainly don't claim to be restaurant critics, but have enjoyed many of the finest restaurants in the world. The ambiance and the food did not disappoint. We had the four course dinner with wine pairing. The flavors and the attention to detail of the food was amazing. I enjoyed the best short rib I've ever tasted. The wine list is expansive and impressive. The restaurant is beautiful and the ambiance was as you'd expect from a 5 star/ 5 diamond establishment. Our only disappointment was the service. Now in their defense , we were 45 minutes late for our reservation, but we did call well in advance to let them know and we were told it was not a problem. Also, the restaurant was not very busy that evening. We were seated in a very nice spot , and there was a thoughtful "Happy Anniversary" card on the table. However, we were given water and ordered a glass of champagne and then we're ignored for the next 25 minutes. We finally had to ask for menus. The beautiful hand-blown glass candle holder on the table was empty and we had to ask for a candle. From that point on our waiter seemed to be very indifferent to our service. We were asked if we'd like more champagne and it wasn't served until we finally asked again. The assistant wait staff asked my wife if she would like another brioche and she said yes, but it was never served. Our questions about the menu were answered in curt one-word responses. Not the kind of service we expected from such a well- regarded restaurant. That being said, it did not ruin our experience, and I believe it to be an off night for the service after all the reviews I've read. Just unfortunate that the service didn't match what was otherwise on of the best dining experiences we've ever enjoyed.

We put ourselves in the chef's hands for the full tasting menu and boy am I glad we did. I have had many similar meals at Michelin starred restaurants but none were better. This wasn't simply about a chef saying "look what I can do." This food - - every single course - - had soul.

This is a wonderful place that I do enjoy coming back to and bringing other guests to enjoy the wonderful experience. I would not consider it kid-friendly nor would I want it to be. There are some places where adults want to go and enjoy an outstanding experience, and pay good money to do so, without the worry of children running around and being loud, throwing food, and doing things which kids do but don't belong in an environment like this. I have been very happy to see that on both of my visits, young children have not been present, which is one of the reasons that I keep coming back. When I want take my young relatives out, we go to a place that is more child appropriate. I hope your patrons will continue to do the same.

Very formal setting, decoration a bit outdated, but all that is acceptable for a special occasion, or contributes to the special occasion. Excellent food all along: inventive, well presented and extremely tasty. Excellent service, attentive and knowledgeable. A few points however: portions are really small, and desserts are one level below the entrees and main courses. But overall, a very memorable experience. Expect a bill between 300 and 500 $ (or more if you are choosy on the wine... ) for two with a pre-dinner drink and a bottle of decent wine.

Too pricey.... I do not think a meal for 4 is worth $900.00 ever. Call me cheap but I will not spend that much on a meal again. I am embarrassed and feel that the money would have been put to better use at Father Joes to feed the poor.

My family and I had the pleasure of enjoying Addison's seven course chef's menu and wine pairing. This was an amazing experience. Each dish was creative, delicious, and meticulously assembled. Also, the wine pairings were perfect. Definitely not for those on a budget, but definitely worth the cost! Side note, if you get the chance, I highly recommend asking to view the kitchen--it is the most impressive kitchen I have seen.

Addison is exceptional and worth experiencing at least once. But be prepared for a hefty bill. The ambiance was understated elegance. The staff was very attentive and the service was impeccable. The wine selection was extensive and every wine we tasted was amazing. The sommelier was outstanding and very knowledgeable. Our 7 course menu was selected by the chef. Each dish was beautifully presented and an unusual combination of ingredients and flavors. The Kobe beef was wonderful but the sauce was too sweet. The other courses were absolutely delicious with the bacon being my favorite. My biggest disappointment was that by trusting the chef I was given foods that I would not have selected.

We had the 7 course Chef's Tasting Menu. Every course superb! Though it was supposed to be 7 courses, there were just as many extra small inbetween tastings, so we actually had about 14 different bites. It is expensive ($504.00 for 2 people with 2 glasses of wine; not a bottle) but well worth every penny. We will return.

We had the seven course tasting menu with the wine pairings. The food was amazing and we were treated like royalty. My wife doesn't eat sea food, but they were able to accommodate that without a problem. The staff was very knowledgeable and friendly. The restaurant itself is a thing of beauty. Afterwards we concluded it was the best dining experience we have ever had. I would highly recommend it.

Dinner for six, $2500 plus plus, IS SURELY WORTH EVERY DIME. Letting a knowledgeable Sommelier match wine/spirits to entrée is the best dining idea ever. Addison's Sommelier (Ms. Elizabeth Huettinger) "paired" the wines to entrée excellently. With acceptable humor, Father, 2 sons and great wives were soon noses deep in each glass as our Sommelier described the taste expectations of each new wine. Truly fun. Chef Bradley commanded each course expertly. Courses appeared and were cleared without interruption, so: what can I say? Combine strategically chef de cuisine with a top Sommelier equals "Wonderful" evening. As MacArthur has said, "we shall return".

We stayed at the Grand Del Mar to celebrate my parents 45th wedding anniversary. To cap off celebrations, we took them to dinner at the Addison on hotel property. The level of service and attention they bring to the guests is simply amazing. We chose the 7 course tasting menu (just a note, they request that the whole table choose the same number of courses for timing reasons) and were greatly pleased by the quality and amount of food served. We thought at first it wouldn't be enough, but by the time the dessert came around, we were all quite stuffed. All the dishes were great, especially notable were the Kumamoto Oysters and Wagyu Short Rib, absolutely delicious.

We celebrated our anniversary at Addison. A spectacular experience; the food was world class; exciting and wonderful. I would rank it up there (and maybe exceeding) some of the top restaurants in the country, including The French Laundry. A rare gem in San Diego. Service was thoughtful, efficient and quite excellent. Wine pairings were spot on, and intriguing choices. The only area I would call out is desert, which was underwhelming. A melon sorbet was so sweet as to be uneatable, a lemon tart also over-sweet, and the final desert which had mint ice-cream as a component was so overwhelmingly minty as to kill any other flavor element. For a remarkable experience (until desert shows), I can't recommend Addison highly enough.

From the warm greeting as you enter to the precision of the wait staff to the always creative chef's creations to the magically aligned wine pairing, Addison has never failed to impress. Our group of four decided the Gourmand selection was appropriate for our long-planned celebration dinner. Chef and staff were perfect throughout. Nine courses (highlighted by the best duck and the most tender and succulent octopus I have ever had) flowed smoothly and effortlessly during our 200 minutes of epicurean bliss. We may be one of a limited group who believe Addison is a superb value. The impact of the artistry is seldom included in the value decision...these are artistes of renown, make no mistake. Addison remains at the top of my list.

Wasn't certain what to expect but soon discovered a truly stunning environment with tall ceilings, carved dark wood and rare marble décor along with a wonderful view of waterfall at a quiet private table in the corner along the windows. Staff were extremely professional and appropriately attentive answering questions in a friendly and helpful manner. No false airs, just genuine courtesy. The seven course Chef's tasting menu was a dazzling series of flavors and exquisite presentations including Osetra caviar, scallops, flavorful pasta, fish, lamb, tender beef and more. As I learned from a colleague several years ago, "You can't go wrong with Relais et Chateaux." Addison deserves to be praised and recognized !!

The restaurant is grand to say to the least and the service was impeccable. The food was absolutely creative and delicious. We opted for the tasting menu. The most notable part of the experience was that you are not provided with a menu of the selections. You simply allow the chef "create". You also don't know the cost. For the two of us with a $200 bottle of wine, the total bill was $700. Definitely a restaurant for "special occasions" While we enjoyed the experience, I can't say it was worth the price - although the wine definitely was!

From the moment you arrive until the moment you depart, the service is top notch and a detail is never missed. We were greeted by name upon our arrival and seated promptly. Sean, our waiter, greeted us & was very knowledgeable of the food options as well as the extensive wine list. We chose the 7 course tasting which included 4-5 little treats throughout the meal in addition to the 7 courses. Everything was served timely, the wine and water was always refilled appropriately and the food was tremendous. Following dinner, we were offered a look into the kitchen. Rachel, the Maitre d took us back to see Chef Bradley's immaculately clean kitchen. It was a pleasure to chat with chef for a few minutes to complete a perfect meal! We will be back!

Billed as on par with French Laundry, we were prepared to spend some money and have an incredible evening. It was an amazing "experience" and I'm glad we did it, but we would not go back. This is one of those places you only go if: (1) you literally have so much money that you don't care how much you spend on a dinner; or (2) you are middle-income but just want to experience something like this once in your life. We are the latter. We got the seven course chef's choice menu with wine pairing ($800/couple). Line up: oysters, sushi, calamari, salmon, egg, duck, dessert. Not one beef, chicken, or pork dish. Call me old fashioned, but I expected more for $800. Too many great $100 restaurants in San Diego to justify an evening here.

We ordered the 7 course menu. We were not offered any choices. They brought us what ever. All of it was well prepared and tasty. But some of it we never would have asked for if offered the choice. My wife enjoyed less than half of the offerings. The cheese tray at the end was a joke as it had about 5 choices. It is a very pretty restaurant and the service is excellent. But we found the food not worth the $900 bill at the end. Mille Fleurs in Rancho Santa Fe is much better. I will never return there. They are trying to be Gary Dankko, and are failing miserably.

I have dined at many 5 Star restaurants and this one was a joke ! They placed us in a room with 3 crying kids ( fine dining, right ?). . When we requested a new table, they made us wait almost 1/2 hour and then placed us in another room . The room was freezing. We requested three times that they make it warmer. Never happened. My wife was wearing a sheer top because it was hot outside and she was extremely uncomfortable the entire time ! The entire meal ranged from fair to horrible ! Over priced. Stuffy atmosphere. Horrible. Won't be back. Save your money and your time. Lots of better options in greater San Diego .

We took our son for his 18th birthday and our 22 year old son. It was the best dining experience we have ever had. The service was impeccable. Nothing could be improved. It was perfect. Amazing wine list with a knowledgable sommelier. Every bite was heaven. Even the bathrooms are incredible! Perfect restaurant for any special occasion. We felt like rock stars.
