Diner Reviews
  • "Terrific experience again. Great kitchen chat with Chef William. Best meal in San Diego, hands down."

  • "From the moment you arrive until the moment you depart, the service is top notch and a detail is never missed. We were greeted by name upon our arrival and seated promptly. Sean, our waiter, greeted us & was very knowledgeable of the food options as well as the extensive wine list. We chose the 7 course tasting which included 4-5 little treats throughout the meal in addition to the 7 courses. Everything was served timely, the wine and water was always refilled appropriately and the food was tremendous. Following dinner, we were offered a look into the kitchen. Rachel, the Maitre d took us back to see Chef Bradley's immaculately clean kitchen. It was a pleasure to chat with chef for a few minutes to complete a perfect meal! We will be back!"

  • "Probably the only 5 star restaurant worth the money in town."

  • "We dined at Addison's to celebrate my daughters birthday during her visit to USA. This was an experience from the greeting as we left our car with valet parking to the goodbye as we left the restaurant. The food was like art and the service first class. Highly recommend."

  • "4+ course meal with wine paring highly recommended for a truly unique and rich experience. The best dining and delectable experience my husband and I ever had!"

  • "Billed as on par with French Laundry, we were prepared to spend some money and have an incredible evening. It was an amazing "experience" and I'm glad we did it, but we would not go back. This is one of those places you only go if: (1) you literally have so much money that you don't care how much you spend on a dinner; or (2) you are middle-income but just want to experience something like this once in your life. We are the latter. We got the seven course chef's choice menu with wine pairing ($800/couple). Line up: oysters, sushi, calamari, salmon, egg, duck, dessert. Not one beef, chicken, or pork dish. Call me old fashioned, but I expected more for $800. Too many great $100 restaurants in San Diego to justify an evening here."

  • "We ordered the 7 course menu. We were not offered any choices. They brought us what ever. All of it was well prepared and tasty. But some of it we never would have asked for if offered the choice. My wife enjoyed less than half of the offerings. The cheese tray at the end was a joke as it had about 5 choices. It is a very pretty restaurant and the service is excellent. But we found the food not worth the $900 bill at the end. Mille Fleurs in Rancho Santa Fe is much better. I will never return there. They are trying to be Gary Dankko, and are failing miserably."

  • "I have dined at many 5 Star restaurants and this one was a joke ! They placed us in a room with 3 crying kids ( fine dining, right ?). . When we requested a new table, they made us wait almost 1/2 hour and then placed us in another room . The room was freezing. We requested three times that they make it warmer. Never happened. My wife was wearing a sheer top because it was hot outside and she was extremely uncomfortable the entire time ! The entire meal ranged from fair to horrible ! Over priced. Stuffy atmosphere. Horrible. Won't be back. Save your money and your time. Lots of better options in greater San Diego ."

  • "We took our son for his 18th birthday and our 22 year old son. It was the best dining experience we have ever had. The service was impeccable. Nothing could be improved. It was perfect. Amazing wine list with a knowledgable sommelier. Every bite was heaven. Even the bathrooms are incredible! Perfect restaurant for any special occasion. We felt like rock stars."

  • "Better service than the French Laundry - a very knowledgeable staff."

  • "This restaurant is the best in California if not the country. Prepared to perfection the chef is truly amazing and provides an experience you won't forget. The staff is trained and makes you feel like royalty from the moment you get there."

  • "We had seven moan-inspiring courses, supplemented by several free courses. Each was superb, unique, and extremely well presented. We also had wine pairings which were really marvelous. Having eaten at the French Laundry in Napa two weeks ago, it was pretty impressive that Addison did as well as they did. The service could have been a bit better in that several times when we needed something they were elsewhere or preoccupied. We will be back, next time our waistlines can handle it."

  • "Nice place the service was great but the food was not great Specially the sauce of the short rib was very bad I had to take it out I let my wife try it and she says It was worst that what I say"

  • "The best restaurant in California. I have been all over LA and Beverly Hills for food, but the Addison is by far the best. Once you decide on what course you would like to take with you meal, the show begins."

  • "I had no idea what food could taste like this! Best meal I have ever had hands down. We did the 10 course paring - totally recommend it."

  • "Execptional! Ordered the four course pre-fixe and every bite was better than the last! Impeccable - worth every dollar. One of the op 5 meals I have ever eaten in my life."

  • "Addison has an incredible setting. The service is top notch from the time one steps out of the car. Everyone is attentive to every small detail of a guest's needs. The decor is lavish. While it doesn't boast great views, just looking around the place is fun enough. The food on the other hand leaves a lot to be desired. If looking for good food in San Diego, then Pamplemousse Grille, Mille Fleurs, Island Prime, Tapenade are at least a notch higher. Addison places a tremendous amount of emphasis on presentation and little on flavor. There is excessive amount of sauce on many of the dishes -- I often find myself scraping things off. This is a great place for special occasions but don't have any expectations of the food."

  • "Addison is the one exceptional restaurant in San Diego County that consistently surprises and delights. Chef Bradley's (have never met) executes exquisitely. Service is attentive but respectful and recommendations very thoughtful. Addison is a must for a truly memorable dining experience. "

  • "Did the 9 course chefs menu...amazing amazing service and food. Very unique flavor combinations...A once in a lifetime experience! I've never had better service...5 star for sure. I recommend checking the website for prices before you order - a little surprised it was $225/person when we got the check. Like I said - once in a lifetime experience--try the 9 or 7 course menu and let your taste buds have a foodgasm :)"

  • "This restaurant is definitely for a special occasion. On the expensive side but well worth it. The service was amazing. The Staff was soo friendly and helpful with regards to the menu. This is a pre fix menu so your choices are limited. The Chef by far was amazing since the food was soo tasty. It is quite, romantic and had a great wine list. I would def recommend this place for a special occasion and go back hopefully soon."

  • "Chef William Bradley put on quite the show with his 10 course tasting menu. For the special occasion that I called vacation in San Diego, this sounded like a fantastic way to show my significant other how much I loved her. We most certainly were not disappointed. Each and every dish was prepared to perfection with my highlights being the 3rd and 4th courses of caramelized sablefish and salmon au buerre doux respectively. The salmon was cooked to perfection with apple hints that were simply incredible. Do not miss out on this place if in the Del Mar area. It's expensive but expected and the service meets expectations. "

  • "This is not your typical dining experience. You have to be ready to savor, relax, and take your time to enjoy the beautiful creations this chef has to offer. We had the 4 course dinner and it was more than plenty. The wine paring was especially adventurous, we were able to try wines from different regions that complimented the food. Our wait staff was attentive and timely with every morsel we were presented with. I will say, they like to steer you towards the 7- course, but unless you can really pack in the food, the 4-course perfect. Lovely evening!"

  • "The service was undoubtedly the best I have ever experienced. Food, if you are a foodie was fantastic (we had the seven course prefix dinner and while portions appeared small, by the end you were satisfied). Atmosphere was rich, quiet ambience with the wait staff available and helpful without being cloying. It is a once in a lifetime experience (because you can afford it only once). It is extremely pricey -- especially the good Cabernet. Martinis and Pinot Grigio were very good and reasonably priced. If you are budget conscious don't go, if you want an experience of service, atmosphere, and amazing food it is a must do."

  • "This was an exquisite experience that I'd save for the most special occasion. The food was art and I stopped to admire each presentation before thoroughly enjoying the sumptuous flavors. This was the most expensive meal I've ever had and you could buy a used car for the prices they charge for a 9 course meal with wine pairings. Having said that, we found two new wine offerings that we are still enjoying to this day that I would have never tried had I not tasted them here."

  • "This restaurant rivals The French Laundry in Napa. The service is impeccable and the food is over the top. Not inexpensive, nor should it be. One of the best we've been to. It is a decadent way to spend a fabulous anniversary, Valentine's Day, or any other special occasion. Great experience. "

  • "My wife and I celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary at the Addison and were very impressed. It's the perfect place to celebrate a special occasion. The ambience, service, and food was excellent. Rafael and Andrea were very good, and helped to make it a memorable evening. "

  • "Group of 6 on vacation in del mar. Went to Adison as it was highly rated. We ordered the 7 course tasting menu. Very expensive but ONE OF THE BEST MEALS OF ALL TIME. The food, service, and the restaurant were nothing short of perfect! "

  • "1. Best service I have ever had in a restaurant! 2. Amazing and unique food lives up to the 5 star rating! 3. We opted for the wine pairings with dinner courses. I was surprised to see that we were charged $175 each to have about 6 small glasses of generally cheap wine. Almost every wine was $20-50 retail cost. It just did not do the food justice and was inappropriate given the cost. I suggest do not take a chance on a wine pairing and just order from the extensive 3500 choice wine list yourself!! The food was amazing and it was the best service I have ever had. Shame the wine overshadowed this otherwise amazing experience."

  • "The level of service and exquisiteness of food is just beyond expectation."

  • "We found Addison to be massively overrated. We are definitely foodies and love a good meal. Several of our courses were good (some were not), but nothing that we had here was overwhelmingly delicious or memorable. All of our servers were excellent except our main server, who can only be described as snooty. He seemed to dismiss us quickly, which detracted from our experience. I honestly would not recommend Addison even if it offered a bargain meal, but to pay $400--well, I simply cannot divorce value from quality, and there was no value here (and quality was middling). Critics who have awarded Addison five stars need to reevaluate. Addison is an interesting "experience," but for good food, look elsewhere."

  • "I took my wife to the Addison for her birthday and was not disappointed in any way. We had the 7 course tasting menu. The food was exquisite and the service equally special. Wine options were broad even though we chose to partake by the glass. Food portions were just right and we did not leave hungry, which can happen at upscale French restauants. You pay for good food, service and surroundings so think of it as NYC in a "nicer and quieter" SoCal setting."

  • "I will make this a very simple review.....too SALTY. The sauces for all the courses were TOO SALTY! Food and creativity is excellent but the taste of food is overpowered by SALT! Service and decor is TOP GRADE!"

  • "Our servers went out of their way to make sure every detail was sought after and every question we had was answered. Could not have asked for better servers!!!! Food was FANTASTIC!!! Went in thinking I'd have to stop somewhere afterwards for a snack or a small meal, but I left full to the brim!!!! Quality of every piece was exquisite. Definitely looking forward to the next time I can dine here."
