Diner Reviews
  • "Celebrated our 36th wedding anniversary. We had the 7 course fixed menu with wine pairings. Incredible dishes with interesting wine pairings. These were small plates but were enough to satisfy our hunger. Sommolier was very good explaining the wine selections. Service was great with a friendly knowlegable staff."

  • "We celebrated our anniversary at Addison. A spectacular experience; the food was world class; exciting and wonderful. I would rank it up there (and maybe exceeding) some of the top restaurants in the country, including The French Laundry. A rare gem in San Diego. Service was thoughtful, efficient and quite excellent. Wine pairings were spot on, and intriguing choices. The only area I would call out is desert, which was underwhelming. A melon sorbet was so sweet as to be uneatable, a lemon tart also over-sweet, and the final desert which had mint ice-cream as a component was so overwhelmingly minty as to kill any other flavor element. For a remarkable experience (until desert shows), I can't recommend Addison highly enough."

  • "From the warm greeting as you enter to the precision of the wait staff to the always creative chef's creations to the magically aligned wine pairing, Addison has never failed to impress. Our group of four decided the Gourmand selection was appropriate for our long-planned celebration dinner. Chef and staff were perfect throughout. Nine courses (highlighted by the best duck and the most tender and succulent octopus I have ever had) flowed smoothly and effortlessly during our 200 minutes of epicurean bliss. We may be one of a limited group who believe Addison is a superb value. The impact of the artistry is seldom included in the value decision...these are artistes of renown, make no mistake. Addison remains at the top of my list."

  • "amazing food! very unique and creative combinations. despite being several courses, none to heavy and therefore the entire meal was very enjoyable. the service was wonderful as well. wine pairings a true hit!"

  • "Wasn't certain what to expect but soon discovered a truly stunning environment with tall ceilings, carved dark wood and rare marble décor along with a wonderful view of waterfall at a quiet private table in the corner along the windows. Staff were extremely professional and appropriately attentive answering questions in a friendly and helpful manner. No false airs, just genuine courtesy. The seven course Chef's tasting menu was a dazzling series of flavors and exquisite presentations including Osetra caviar, scallops, flavorful pasta, fish, lamb, tender beef and more. As I learned from a colleague several years ago, "You can't go wrong with Relais et Chateaux." Addison deserves to be praised and recognized !!"

  • "Had this restaurant been priced at say $80 per head for the meal with drinks, I would have given a favorable review. But the prices are simply outrageous."

  • "We enjoyed the nine course tasting menu at the Addison. Each dish was beautifully prepared and the flavors were outstanding. We have been fortunate to have dined in many of Europe's most acclaimed restaurants and the Addison compares very favorably."

  • "Everything about Addison was superb. The ambience, service, and food are extraordinary."

  • "The restaurant is grand to say to the least and the service was impeccable. The food was absolutely creative and delicious. We opted for the tasting menu. The most notable part of the experience was that you are not provided with a menu of the selections. You simply allow the chef "create". You also don't know the cost. For the two of us with a $200 bottle of wine, the total bill was $700. Definitely a restaurant for "special occasions" While we enjoyed the experience, I can't say it was worth the price - although the wine definitely was!"

  • "From the moment you arrive until the moment you depart, the service is top notch and a detail is never missed. We were greeted by name upon our arrival and seated promptly. Sean, our waiter, greeted us & was very knowledgeable of the food options as well as the extensive wine list. We chose the 7 course tasting which included 4-5 little treats throughout the meal in addition to the 7 courses. Everything was served timely, the wine and water was always refilled appropriately and the food was tremendous. Following dinner, we were offered a look into the kitchen. Rachel, the Maitre d took us back to see Chef Bradley's immaculately clean kitchen. It was a pleasure to chat with chef for a few minutes to complete a perfect meal! We will be back!"

  • "We dined at Addison's to celebrate my daughters birthday during her visit to USA. This was an experience from the greeting as we left our car with valet parking to the goodbye as we left the restaurant. The food was like art and the service first class. Highly recommend."

  • "4+ course meal with wine paring highly recommended for a truly unique and rich experience. The best dining and delectable experience my husband and I ever had!"

  • "Billed as on par with French Laundry, we were prepared to spend some money and have an incredible evening. It was an amazing "experience" and I'm glad we did it, but we would not go back. This is one of those places you only go if: (1) you literally have so much money that you don't care how much you spend on a dinner; or (2) you are middle-income but just want to experience something like this once in your life. We are the latter. We got the seven course chef's choice menu with wine pairing ($800/couple). Line up: oysters, sushi, calamari, salmon, egg, duck, dessert. Not one beef, chicken, or pork dish. Call me old fashioned, but I expected more for $800. Too many great $100 restaurants in San Diego to justify an evening here."

  • "We ordered the 7 course menu. We were not offered any choices. They brought us what ever. All of it was well prepared and tasty. But some of it we never would have asked for if offered the choice. My wife enjoyed less than half of the offerings. The cheese tray at the end was a joke as it had about 5 choices. It is a very pretty restaurant and the service is excellent. But we found the food not worth the $900 bill at the end. Mille Fleurs in Rancho Santa Fe is much better. I will never return there. They are trying to be Gary Dankko, and are failing miserably."

  • "I have dined at many 5 Star restaurants and this one was a joke ! They placed us in a room with 3 crying kids ( fine dining, right ?). . When we requested a new table, they made us wait almost 1/2 hour and then placed us in another room . The room was freezing. We requested three times that they make it warmer. Never happened. My wife was wearing a sheer top because it was hot outside and she was extremely uncomfortable the entire time ! The entire meal ranged from fair to horrible ! Over priced. Stuffy atmosphere. Horrible. Won't be back. Save your money and your time. Lots of better options in greater San Diego ."

  • "We took our son for his 18th birthday and our 22 year old son. It was the best dining experience we have ever had. The service was impeccable. Nothing could be improved. It was perfect. Amazing wine list with a knowledgable sommelier. Every bite was heaven. Even the bathrooms are incredible! Perfect restaurant for any special occasion. We felt like rock stars."

  • "This restaurant is the best in California if not the country. Prepared to perfection the chef is truly amazing and provides an experience you won't forget. The staff is trained and makes you feel like royalty from the moment you get there."

  • "We had seven moan-inspiring courses, supplemented by several free courses. Each was superb, unique, and extremely well presented. We also had wine pairings which were really marvelous. Having eaten at the French Laundry in Napa two weeks ago, it was pretty impressive that Addison did as well as they did. The service could have been a bit better in that several times when we needed something they were elsewhere or preoccupied. We will be back, next time our waistlines can handle it."

  • "The best restaurant in California. I have been all over LA and Beverly Hills for food, but the Addison is by far the best. Once you decide on what course you would like to take with you meal, the show begins."

  • "Addison has an incredible setting. The service is top notch from the time one steps out of the car. Everyone is attentive to every small detail of a guest's needs. The decor is lavish. While it doesn't boast great views, just looking around the place is fun enough. The food on the other hand leaves a lot to be desired. If looking for good food in San Diego, then Pamplemousse Grille, Mille Fleurs, Island Prime, Tapenade are at least a notch higher. Addison places a tremendous amount of emphasis on presentation and little on flavor. There is excessive amount of sauce on many of the dishes -- I often find myself scraping things off. This is a great place for special occasions but don't have any expectations of the food."

  • "Addison is the one exceptional restaurant in San Diego County that consistently surprises and delights. Chef Bradley's (have never met) executes exquisitely. Service is attentive but respectful and recommendations very thoughtful. Addison is a must for a truly memorable dining experience. "

  • "Did the 9 course chefs menu...amazing amazing service and food. Very unique flavor combinations...A once in a lifetime experience! I've never had better service...5 star for sure. I recommend checking the website for prices before you order - a little surprised it was $225/person when we got the check. Like I said - once in a lifetime experience--try the 9 or 7 course menu and let your taste buds have a foodgasm :)"

  • "This restaurant is definitely for a special occasion. On the expensive side but well worth it. The service was amazing. The Staff was soo friendly and helpful with regards to the menu. This is a pre fix menu so your choices are limited. The Chef by far was amazing since the food was soo tasty. It is quite, romantic and had a great wine list. I would def recommend this place for a special occasion and go back hopefully soon."

  • "Chef William Bradley put on quite the show with his 10 course tasting menu. For the special occasion that I called vacation in San Diego, this sounded like a fantastic way to show my significant other how much I loved her. We most certainly were not disappointed. Each and every dish was prepared to perfection with my highlights being the 3rd and 4th courses of caramelized sablefish and salmon au buerre doux respectively. The salmon was cooked to perfection with apple hints that were simply incredible. Do not miss out on this place if in the Del Mar area. It's expensive but expected and the service meets expectations. • "This is not your typical dining experience. You have to be ready to savor, relax, and take your time to enjoy the beautiful creations this chef has to offer. We had the 4 course dinner and it was more than plenty. The wine paring was especially adventurous, we were able to try wines from different regions that complimented the food. Our wait staff was attentive and timely with every morsel we were presented with. I will say, they like to steer you towards the 7- course, but unless you can really pack in the food, the 4-course perfect. Lovely evening!"

  • "The service was undoubtedly the best I have ever experienced. Food, if you are a foodie was fantastic (we had the seven course prefix dinner and while portions appeared small, by the end you were satisfied). Atmosphere was rich, quiet ambience with the wait staff available and helpful without being cloying. It is a once in a lifetime experience (because you can afford it only once). It is extremely pricey -- especially the good Cabernet. Martinis and Pinot Grigio were very good and reasonably priced. If you are budget conscious don't go, if you want an experience of service, atmosphere, and amazing food it is a must do."

  • "This was an exquisite experience that I'd save for the most special occasion. The food was art and I stopped to admire each presentation before thoroughly enjoying the sumptuous flavors. This was the most expensive meal I've ever had and you could buy a used car for the prices they charge for a 9 course meal with wine pairings. Having said that, we found two new wine offerings that we are still enjoying to this day that I would have never tried had I not tasted them here."
