  • "I recently retired, but before that I often took special guests to Adams Avenue Grill. I think it is the best food in San Diego. They have a great lunch that includes desert. My favorites are the stuffed peppers, carrot ginger soup, and the goat cheese fritters. I am a vegetarian, but they have plenty of choices for carnivores, also. This is a great place if you want to get away from slicko hotels or the noise of downtown."

  • "The Pot Roast is wonderful and delicious comfort food here. Skip the French Onion soup which is not served the way most restaurants serve it - as it is lacking the cheese on top. Also I'd skip the key lime pie as it is not as good as it used to be, and doesn't really look like key lime pie."

  • "This is a great neighborhood restaurant... and I don't live in this particular neighborhood, but you know what I mean. It has an inviting feel, when you walk in, you get a friendly greeting, and you feel like you can fit in. Even though the tables aren't far apart, you can hear the people that you are sitting with and carry on a good conversation. The food is always good. We have tried many dishes and never been disappointed. And the menu is varied so you can always find something that everyone in your party will love. The desserts are incredible and there is a good wine list. We would highly recommend it."

  • "I'm a repeat customer because Adams Ave Grill always has outstanding food and an upscale, yet relaxed atmosphere. No tie required, but you know you're in for a lovely experience. The service was a little slow this time, but it was very crowded for Valentines Day. Highly recommend and plan to return many more times. Best neighborhood restaurant!!!!"

  • "I've lived in San Diego for about 2 years now and I had only recently found this restaurant through OpenTable. I wish more of my friends knew about it and I had visited here before! Our waitress was very attentive, the food was delicious and although it isn't a multiple page menu, there are more than enough options! It was great to go to a place on a Friday night without a long wait and with a nice quiet atmosphere. We will definitely be visiting again."

They offer a wide variety of selections and seasonal specials to keep it interesting. their walls are lined with art from local artists and it keeps changing. The staff is friendly and the service is always great! Highly recommend reservations because it is a neighborhood favorite for sure!"

  • "We've been to Adams Avenue Grill before and always find it has good food, good wine and a great atmosphere for conversation (not all restaurants can say that!) for a relatively low price point. My salmon on black cherry plank was perfectly cooked - although I would have loved more of the chutney. My dining companions each enjoyed their meals - meatloaf and salmon with beurre blanc. I couldn't believe my wine was only $8 a glass. The staff was helpful and friendly - they didn't rush us out even though we were the last ones there on a Thursday night. We'd go again."

  • "There were 4 adults and a 4 year old. Every thing was wonderful. I had the carnitas and was disappointed in my chose, not the experience I have with choices in the past. The rest of the guests totally enjoyed their meals. We come often and love the feel of the restaurant and servers and the YUMMY deserts! I would replace the carnitas....Thank you until we meet again ! Continued success !!!"

  • "I am a neighborhood guy who had 3 visitors from out of town, one eats anything, one was vegan and one didn't like fish. I am happy eating anywhere, but as host and neighborhood ambassador for that particular evening I wanted to take them to a restaurant which was a personifcation of how good and cool this pocket of culture I have come to love truly is. They wer all 3 gobsmacked with the food, the ambiance and the charming pigtailed waitress, as was I. Great restaurant. I'll be back."

  • "While the food and menu choices were overall OK, the bright white lighting created an ambience that was less than appealing. We were disappointed with our choice of the bruschetta as an appetizer -- not anything close to the traditional bruschetta and not an improvement even from the perspective of perhaps a new twist on an old favorite. For entrees, ee had the gnocchi and pot roast. Both dishes were acceptable, though the yankee pot roast didn't have any carrots which was a bit odd. We were a bit put off by the ipad-powered system for paying the bill -- too many devices already encroach on the dinner table, and we would prefer a simple pen & ink receipt."
