Ada StreetLove it!Our second visit to the great place. Just as good as our first. I find it hard to find faults with this place or it's food/drinks. Cocktails are inventive and perfectly balanced. Food is creative and because they are small dishes it's easy to try a lot of selections on a single visit. Most of all, the bartenders and, in particular, the wait staff make you really feel that they are glad to have you there. I haven't found a place who's staff has a better attitude.
I highly recommend the deep fried black eye peas and hot donuts with caramel dipping sauce. Everything in between too!!5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat!First time at Ada and we loved it!!! Food was amazing and staff was even better! Only thing that wasn't perfect was the fact that the plates are really small and my friend (who is 6'7) wasn't full even after 7 small plates. Otherwise, AWESOME!5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Dining ExperienceThe food and service were awesome. Very hip and fun atmosphere.5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMTurn down the noise! This is my fourth time to Ada Street and it may be my last --we love the space, love the food ....but the place is way too loud. Despite multiple requests to turn the music down, it seemed to get louder and by the end of our meal I felt we were literally screaming at each other. Everyone else in the restaurant must have felt the same way because by the time we left...when the room was full the noise level was at a fevered pitch. The food is terriffic, the waitstaff superb BUT most people come to restaurants to enjoy the food and the company they are with and it is almost impossible to do the later at this place. Music should be used to enhance the mood of the space not to detract from it.5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMFantasticThis was my second time to Ada St. after a truly great first experience a few months ago. Our server, Sarah, remember us and even remembered which bottle of wine we had ordered the first time, took great care of us, and made the night really special for our family. I could go on a hyperbolic rant about all of the wonderfulness at this place, but let me just sum it up by saying this restaurant is perfect: the food is perfect, the service is perfect, the price point is totally appropriate, and the space is lovely.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food and drinksWe really enjoyed our food and drinks. The staff was friendly, and we would recommend this place.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMSuper fun, young and lovelyMy boyfriend and I went to Ada Street on a Saturday night. They played some Bruce Springsteen for awhile and he was obsessed with that. I had been there before, so I was happy he was impressed right away.
Ordered cocktails, they were perfect.
We ordered 6 things, two from each section. The highlights were: baby carrot salad--don't leave without having this. Super light and very tasty vinaigrette. The Duck confit, I think it had me at 'poached egg'. And, the Scallops were probably his absolute favorite. The donuts and chocolate for dessert...phenomenal.
Also, had a couple of their house margaritas, some of the best in the city. Fun to watch them make it too!5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMfoodie heavenThis hot spot is a little gem that not many would ever think you would find behind Home Depot and by the Hideout. Fantastic food amazing whiskey list. Highly recommend it!5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMThe entire experience wasThe entire experience was spot-on and made our anniversary dinner a night to remember. The black-eyed peas and dessert doughnuts are not to be missed.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMLOVE LOVE LOVEThe best dinner experience I have had in a long time! Came in for date night with my boyfriend and had the pleasure of sitting at the bar. Tim took care of us and his service was outstanding! Very informative and friendly. We shared 7 dished total. EVERYTHING that came out of the kitchen was amazing. My boyfriend had very big eats, so we usually shy away from small plates because he leaves hungry. Not this time. I love everything about the atmosphere. The space was intimate but still vibrant. Will definitely be back!4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was good. CocktailsFood was good. Cocktails were even better! Overall, a good experience made great by a voucher4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMWe went for the 5 course prixWe went for the 5 course prix fixe menu for 4 which we bought through travelzoo. Our server was very very charming and knowledgeable. Service was excellent. Food was delicious but the wine served with some of the courses was very mediocre. My only gripe was that we had to share the main course, and the portion size was too small. I also don't think that was made clear in the menu. We were celebrating a birthday and our server brought out a complimentary dessert at the end of the meal whit was very thoughtful.
Ambiance was good. The dim lights took some getting used to. The music was very loud and we found ourselves shouting during the meal. The place was filled with just a few older people like us. Most were in their 20s and 30s.4/22/2013 12:00:00 AMCreative, innovative and deliciousCreative, innovative and delicious Small plates. Fantastic cocktails. Wonderful food. Lots of Veg-centric options.4/15/2013 12:00:00 AMWe love this place. A wonderful,We love this place. It was our first time there and we had the opportunity to sit at the Chef's table. Chef Zoe was phenomenal.4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMmy wife and loved everythingmy wife and loved everything about it! in fact we had theater tickets and decided to blow them off, we were having so much fun. we stayed for dessert and coffee instead. Salmon tartare, Strip, chicken liver pate, all stand outs!4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMHad a great time! It's a veryHad a great time! It's a very unique restaurant with excellent cocktails and small plates. Was really nice to see how involved chef was in the front of house. Look forward to returning in the summer!4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was excellent - all smallFood was excellent - all small plates, so we got to try a variety of dishes, and all were fantastic. Favorites included the duck confit, lamb ribs, asparagus, and panna cotta for dessert.4/2/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat place! NeighborhoodGreat place! Neighborhood looks a little sketchy but the restaurant is definitely worth a trip. Food is fantastic. Staff were uniformly friendly and informative. It's a bit noisier than I would have liked but it didn't detract from a lovely evening.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMAda's is an adventureThis was my second visit to Ada's and it is a most unique little spot with lots of pizzazz. The chef, Zoe, is amazing and makes a point of visiting with you, answering questions about the small but most ambitious and delicious menu.
I must say that the clever welcome includes a visit to the boxes of record albums for a choice you get to make and give to the hostess. However, I never heard my album and the noise volume was so high it was enough to have to ask for it to be turned down. I am not sure why anyone would want to be subjected at dinner to the kind of music you would hear at a club. With all we know about hearing loss, it is time people raise their voices(and not the music) about this problem. I would then gladly go back.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMA Must TryGreat scene, food and most of all service. Love the neighborhood feel and cant wait for nice weather to come back and hang out on patio. Fun cocktails to try and the octopus, brussell sprouts and desserts were incredibly yummy! Ada St. lives up to the hype. Go!3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMThis place is incredible. This place is incredible. 10 out of 10.
Sit at the Chef's table if you can.3/27/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic Night out!We had a fantastic time! The food was great, service spectacular, and the place itself has a great vibe. The menu is all small plates - which we like, it means you get to try lots of things. All the flavors were vibrant, and very fresh. Two stand outs were the tuna tare-tare, and the dock confit. Awesome. Also, the chocolate dessert was to die for. Allie took great care of us, top notch service. Also, great house cocktails. Can't wait to go back!3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMA Must Try!!!Great spot! Chef Zoe is awesome and Lorna, Nate, and Tim all were making incredible cocktails. If you can get in, GO!!!3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMgood but extremely loud.good but extremely loud. I dont mind loud, but BLASTING Bruce Springsteen is a little much.3/20/2013 12:00:00 AMLove, love, LOVE! From theLove, love, LOVE! From the moment you are greeted at the entrance, to the hallway twisting and turning until you get to the small, but beautiful dining room, Ada Street is a gem. Not in an area you would expect, but right off the expressway for those of us not in the city. Wherever you come from, it is worth the trip. Executive chef, Zoe Schor, and her staff are incredible...they all work together like a well oiled machine producing and serving some of the best bar bites I've ever had. This trip, we enjoyed Cured Salmon Spring Rolls, carrot/avacado salad, brussel sprouts, lamb ribs, scallop and personalized cocktails. PERFECTION. We wanted to try everything on the menu. Not my first, and definitely not my last trip to Ada Street!3/19/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful innovative foodWonderful innovative food and cocktails. Music a bit loud. Waitress and hostess very friendly and helpful. Recommend the brussel sprouts and octopus selections. We were given complimentary glasses of champagne to start off our anniversary dinner celebration, a nice touch.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful!Short of a possible cushion on the banquet seat area, there is nothing I would change. Chef Zoe and her crew deliver great hospitality and wonderful high flavor creative small plates consistently! Can't recommend highly enough!3/14/2013 12:00:00 AMFood and service was fantasticFood and service was fantastic and can't wait to return.3/11/2013 12:00:00 AMHad an outstanding diningHad an outstanding dining experience at Ada. My fiance and I were seated at the bar and while the music was loud, it gave a fun and energetic vibe in the somewhat small space. The decor is what I would consider industrial chic - tucked away in the very industrial corner of Elston and North, it is a short walk to the Hideout. This is the kind of Chicago my fiance and I love. Lorna made some excellent food recommendations. Our favorite dishes were the prawns, spag squash salad, roasted cauliflower, and of course - the doughnuts with port wine caramel sauce. As my fiance does not care for sweets, I happily ate all 4 donuts.3/9/2013 12:00:00 AMA perfect low key eveningA hidden gem off the beaten path. The drinks are just as great as the food, and the food is incredible. The waitstaff and bartenders are personable, warm and friendly. They're all happy to be there and it just makes the experience that much better.
Try the salmon tartar and the brussel sprouts!12/6/2012 12:00:00 AM
