A word from Acorn
Located within the Source, a reclaimed 1880’s refinery turned new epicurean marketplace in Denver’s River North District, Acorn boasts Chef/Owner Steven Redzikowski’s eclectic, contemporary American cooking in an approachable, family-friendly format, alongside Beverage Director/Owner Bryan Dayton’s ingredient-driven cocktails, and handpicked selection of artisan wines and beers.

Similar to its critically acclaimed sister restaurant in Boulder, OAK at fourteenth, Acorn’s culinary and inspirational foundation is its oak-fired oven and grill, which produce a seasonal, ever-changing menu of craveable, family-style small plates and entrées. Guests will also find a selection of favorite dishes from the menus at OAK.

Steven, Bryan and their team at Acorn are proud to be serving Denver, and look forward to welcoming you.

  • Delicious! Two little quibbles
    OpenTable Diner Since 2011

Food: delicious! Fantastic. We'll return ~ In terms of the dining experience, however, two small things: 1)why must a table for two be so long that your date is far away? Big tables dampen intimacy. Sure, you're supposed to order two or three big plates for the table, so there has to be space to put them, but even 6 inches shorter on length would make a difference. 2)a phalanx of servers swooping in to take plates (when there's a last bite or last sip of wine) started to annoy. That kind of activity (4, maybe 5 men) makes it hard to keep the conversation going with your date. Yes, we greatly appreciate attentive service, but there's a fine line between that and the feeling of "we need to turn the table." On an early Sunday evening, with plenty of open tables, I'm sure that wasn't their intention. Just ease off a bit. Thank you very much.

  • I understand why it's hard to get a res at Acorn
    OpenTable Diner Since 2008

I've wanted to visit Acorn for months. Unfortunately, getting a reservation has been quite a challenge. Fortunately, I was able to plan far enough out to get a res for my friend's birthday dinner. As soon as we arrived I understood the problem. The space is fairly small and one goes to dine, so turnover is low. The food was not only spectacular to eat, but some of the most beautiful food I've eaten. The menu is almost entirely small plates, so diners will have plenty of opportunity to try many things. On the winter menu I recommend anything that is served with pomegranate molasses. I'll definitely be going back to Acorn!

My second lunch visit at Acorn reaffirmed the hipster hot spot atmosphere, and my dining companion was thrilled with her meatball entree, but my tempura fried codfish sandwich was disappointing. The fish and bits of the salad kept falling out of the bun onto the table, my lap and sometimes the plate until I gave up and just ate the fish with a fork, leaving the lackluster bun. I would have preferred two pieces of fish, no bun, and the salad as a side. The waiter poured water a bit too often, interrupting our conversation numerous times. I prefer they pour only when the glass is below halfway, not after each sip. Will definitely try Acorn again and hope to order better next time.

I was impressed with Oak's sister restaurant! I love the small plate theme and the recommended amount of food (2-3 plates per person) was spot on. We went for dinner and enjoyed every item on the menu, from the fried pickles (fresher aioli than Oak), the crudo, the pork belly, the foie gras pb&j, and the lamb shwarama. Plus, the caramelized brioche for dessert was very flavorful and tasted excellent. The service was also very attentive and professional, again, more so than Oak, I believe. I am already looking forward to coming back!

What a great find - even after it's been open for a while. Acorn is a foodie paradise, the food is creative and innovative. The presentation is outstanding. I got the idea of coming here off the Internet on a list of hot new places in Denver. While waiting for them to open up I met a young lady who said she had heard about it in NYNY. Not sure it lived up to that, but it was really good. Food was innovative and great. My friends enjoyed their food as well. Service was alright but the busboy seemed more concerned with us than the server. However it was very busy right at the first, so no complaints really. We'll go again as The Source seems an interesting place to shop.

The food was delicious. You must try the butternut squash risotto - we savored every bite. There were 4 of us and we ordered 7 dishes to share - the kitchen and the BEST server in town, Jessica paced our meal with perfection. We cannot say enough about the flavor profile - it's so well balanced. Amos and his "crew" are doing a wonderful job. Thanks for a great evening of dining!

Be careful not to drive past this little gem tucked away in an refurbished warehouse. This space has several places for eats and drinks but the star of the show is Acorn. Great ambience and spectacular food. Don't miss this. Have the fried egg salad and the meatballs for sure as we couldn't get enough. Try the octopus as well as it's simply a work of art! If you want trendy small plates that can be miniscule in an environment where conversation can be difficult, flock to acorn. Yes, some dishes shine (squash with burrata, mushroom risotto) but $15 for three veggie ravioli is overpriced and when your risotto arrives when you have just started the prior dish you must choose which dish to eat when hot or wait and eat lukewarm risotto. The place is abuzz but there are many better options avaliable.

I am absolutely in love with this restaurant. I came here with my brother as recommended by many in the food industry for lunch and everything was perfect and beyond expectation. Most importantly, the food was delicious. I ordered the Grilled Cheese with Tomato Soup and my brother had the Tomato Braised Meatballs. We also treated ourselves to the daily special Brioche Doughnut. All of the dishes were very satisfying and filling. The location is also something spectacular because the restaurant is located in this building called The Source which is host to another great restaurant called Comida, a specialty food store called Mondo Food Market I believe, a wonderful husband and wife owned bakery called Babettes, a butcher, and a bar!

Fabulous, unusual, trendy, delicious...all words to describe 5280's #2 pick for top restaurants in Denver. Acorn is a wonderful new gem in the up-and-coming RiNo area that appeals to both hipsters and Average Joes alike. It features the most eclectic creations served on small plates meant to be shared with those lucky enough to be dining with you. I've been a few times now and always order something different off their incredible menu, never to be disappointed by my choices. The menu changes seasonally, which always keeps it new and exciting. While there, do not miss out on ordering one of their amazing cocktails. So great, yummy and full of fresh flavors. Plan ahead...reservations are hard to get now that the word is out.

Four of us had 10 small plates and shared a dessert. We had the meatballs, mushroom risotto, shrimp and grits, Iberico ham with cicerones, shwarma (all good), smoked octopus with chorizo (too smoky). The dessert was butterscotch pudding which was more toffeeish than butterscotch and was delicious, not being excessively sweet. The wait staff was great.

My husband and I were there on a busy Saturday night, but had no problem getting a table. I made the reservation less than an hour before we arrived, but it was after 8pm. The atmosphere has an industrial vibe. Because of the music and being a large open space made of brick, it was on the nosier side, but not so much we couldn't hear one another. Everything we ordered was outstanding and paced nicely, since the menu is a shared small plates format. Our only complaint was the amount of time it took to get our drinks. There was a long wait from the time we ordered them until we received them, both before the meal as well as through out. There seemed to be plenty of wait staff bringing items, so maybe more bartenders were needed?

But we would soon discover the attentive service, impressive cocktail list, and amazing food. Pretension was not served. I've been to Acorn twice and although I've enjoyed it, I probably won't be back. The service is excellent however even though the food is good, it's not great. I've had the salad with bacon and fried egg and enjoyed it but the portion size was very small for the price. On my second visit I had the pork and pasole. The broth was very good and the pasole was cooked perfectly but there were only three or four small pieces of pork and again the portion size was a bit small for the price. The biggest problem I have with Acorn is the wine pricing. Only one bottle on the lunch menu under $40. There are many other upscale Denver restaurants which offer a variety of wines for $25-$35. Also, the stools on the patio are extremely uncomfortable.

Our dinner started out with our waiter dumping a cocktail all over us. No apology and no compensation. There are a lot of great restaurants in Denver, so if you don't have it all together: food, service, ambience, you are going to be out soon. It was a lot better a few months ago when they were still trying.
