ACME's interior gives the impression of a speakeasy, but surprisingly empty. I think it's undergone change in ownership or concept. My boyfriend and I ordered chicken and dumplings, mac and cheese, as well as a salad. I have to agree with another reviewer that the food looks great, but doesn't taste quite as good as it should. The chx and dumplings needed flavor. Bacon jam in the mac and cheese was a delightful surprise, but otherwise the mac and cheese was lackluster without it. I love the way it is done, but think that it's past is haunting it, which is why it's so empty. Cocktails are okay, just a little on the sweet side. Would like to see it develop more.

This place is no longer the hot hot table. In fact, on a Friday night... it's seat yourself and a lot of space to choose from. But no having to scream to converse. Quite a change in a year or so, but that's not entirely a bad thing for a diner, even it ownership is less than thrilled. They still have a great cocktail list, fun bar areas, and a funky reclaimed industrial space vibe. The menu is much less aggressively out there, more limited, and it is also much more affordable. And each of the 4 of us ordered something different and each plate was really good. The wine list is 8 bottles, the dessert options non-existent (ice cream anyone?) so here's the recipe: go for a few good cocktails and a comfort-food plate of ribs and be happy.

i was excited to try this restaurant for the first time, even more so after seeing the menu on-line (i had already picked my entree prior to arriving). however, they changed the menu a few weeks prior so the menu on-line was not accurate. they changed the menu to more casual choices with a variety of sandwiches. we did have the meat/cheese plate and i thought it was excellent. if i hadn't looked at the menu online i wouldn't have been disappointed but i was simply because i wanted a few items that were no longer being served for dinner. still a very cool, laid back place with a ton of beverage options.

Acme F&B makes you wonder when Wile E Coyote is going to try to blow you up, but it isn't a bad experience nearly as much as a race with Road Runner towards exceptionally average. This place has poor lighting, even in the daytime, and their burger/sandwiches do not fit on the bread. Taste was fine, but not special, and so was the service. I wonder if I wouldn't have been better off saving a few duckets down the street at a Chilis. Unfortunately Acme is living up to the name which isn't very high.

Made a recent visit back to AFB, and found a good restaurant gone completely bad. This review would be too long to include all of the negatives. Let's just say we were never asked about our reservations, bartenders either didn't know how to make some fairly popular drinks, or we received multiple versions from different people. When we did move to a table as directed, 15 minutes went by with only a bus person bringing water and menus. We left to go elsewhere, and even then had to get our own car from the valet stand, as it was abandoned. A clearly more veteran bartender told us the ownership had changed, it was becoming a more bar focused place. A new name is forthcoming as well. All of this would have been good to know before coming.

Saturday brunch is usually bustling instead it was slow... we were the only table. Menu was more limited than I remember and only had lunch items. I got the feeling this was regular as people were still setting up when we walked in at 11:30 and they had been open for half an hour. Food was fine but not exceptional which I would think would be the case being the only table in the restaurant. When we left 45 minutes later two guys were headed in it was almost 1:00. Was here for other weekend meals and it was different so not sure what the deal was this Saturday!

We loved Acme when it first opened. The menu was inventive and the food was delicious; however, the menu was recently modified dramatically. The entrees consist almost exclusively of sandwiches and different hamburgers. There was no fish entree option. All members of our party had difficulty finding something they wanted to order. There was no longer a valet nor a hostess to greet us at main entrance. I was very disappointed in our experience at this former neighborhood gem.

service was not only exceptionally slow due to lack of adequate staff but inept. One server dropped a glass of water and barely wiped it up leaving water & ice on the floor, the same one dropped a dish of dip splashing it on the floor, nearby table and on several customers. there didnt appear to be anyone in charge on site. Couple bad service with unexceptional food, we wont be back. The place had good reviews but there has been a change in ownership & chef that is not for the better for sure.

The brunch menu was interesting and everyone was able to find something to order (and they actually enjoyed it). The only problem was the service. Our waiter took awhile after we were seted to show up and then disappeared for awhile before bringing drinks. We were ready to order but he wasn't ready to take it so he walked off again. Other than to bring our food he didn't come back around. Had to flag him down because one order wasn't complete and we needed condiments for the table. By the time we got them the meal was almost gone.

I thought we'd give this restaurant a try, but I'm not really sure we'll go back. I think service is really important. Our server was a low talker. I couldn't hear him at all and he really didn't seem to care much about us. Service was pretty slow. Thought the Mac n cheese was really good. Pork chop was over cooked. Menu is very limited. I thought the atmosphere was cool, great use of salvaged pieces.

There was no one at the door to greet us & no one at the front bar, which was strange & uncomfortable for a Friday night. Disappointing that 3 of the 7 appetizers were not available & 2 of those were cheese plates. Our server made no effort to engage, but acted purely like an "order taker". For that kind of money, we expected a little more enthusiasm. The food read well, but was uninspired upon execution. No one was at the front when we left. Had high hopes, but were disappointed overall.

Food was excellent except for the charcuterie tray. The total amount of food on the tray was plenty for 4 but most items were barely enough for 2 people to have a taste. This was esp true for the cheese. The entire table enjoyed their salads and the filet was great. Bread pudding and ice cream were wonderful. Wine list is not extensive but adequate. Service was indifferent and slow.

What a total disappointment. I made reservations for me and my girlfriend on a Friday night. Despite a full restaurant seating was prompt, and was our initial drink order. Restaurant is Texas chic, but the steel seating was uncomfortable, not cool considering the main course prices. Took 15 minutes for our drinks, and 45 minutes for our main course to arrive. I continually had to flag wait staff down to order another cocktail. Appetizer of warm mozza was basically a blob of mozza, practically unservable without proper utensils (none given). The GF's steak was decent, however my chicken was probably the most paltry serving of food for $26 I have ever had. GF was also cold. Neither of us were impressed.

I've been here 5-6 times, now, and everyone I take here loves it. I can get bored with the smallish menu, but the food is really good every time. Drinks are great; beer selection is good and fun with the local, craft beers. All the entrees, whether it be beef, pork, chicken or fish...always cooked well and served well. We order oysters nearly every time we come because they are consistently some of the best I've ever had in Dallas...always so fresh, briny and tasty! I've been able to get my two kids to love oysters by offering them oysters here. Other places, they would eat one just to taste it and then they were done. Last time we at at F&B we ordered one dozen and then a second dozen.

The wine list could be a little better in regards to depth of selection, however, we found a nice bottle at a reasonable price. The pork chop was fantastic and the service was absolutely delightful. We found our waiter to be a perfect combination of efficiency and knowledge without being overbearing and annoying. The atmosphere was very hip, eclectic and extremely clean. The only complaint I had was (and this is NO reflection on Acme) the table next to us letting their child run amok! Control your kids or go to Luby's!

Great ambiance, decor, and drinks. I'd gone to Acme with a girlfriend the weekend prior, and loved it, so came back with husband & another couple. Unacceptable that for a 9pm reservation we didn't get seated till 9.55pm. I get that this is a hip new place, but the excuse of 'some tables just won't leave' is beyond ridiculous. Many restaurants face this exact problem, I'm sure, but their management actually manages, to where this doesn't happen.
