Diner Reviews
  • "Acitron features very tasty regional Mexican dishes in unusual preparations, such as a delicious large crepe stuffed with corn and peppers and smothered with a spinach sauce so good we asked to buy some to take home. The waitstaff are friendly, helpful, and competent, and the dining experience is delightful."

  • "Upscale, sophisticated yet with a relaxed atmosphere. Food we delicious - especially the shrimp with mole sauce. The chips (thin andnot greasy) and salsa (fresh and spicy) set the tone and the service was great."

  • "We've been to Acitron 4 or 5 times and have always enjoyed it. The people are warm and friendly, the margaritas are excellent (each of us had a different kind and tasted each other's), and the food is delicious. Love the fish tacos! One of the sides was a very tasty grilled corn on the cob -- wonderful addition to the menu. Definitely recommend it."

  • "Acitron's is my favorite sangria, perfectly balanced. Food was terric, too."

  • "Fun and interesting menu: portions big enough for two people and great sangria to boot. The ceviche was excelent the appetizer tacos were really delicious and the crepes stuffed with poblano pepper strips and covered in green pipian mole were a ReAl treat. I'll be back for more. Added plus was our server, a Salma Hayek lookalike and sweet as she was knowledgeable"

  • "Hi, the food is always great as is the service We r big margarita ppl and it seems no one gets them right Masa does not either Simple is better. The best real one so far has been the painted burrow in Davis sq Not all juice. So many look like oj is added At home it's just simple syrupy, fresh lime and tequila , a little work but worth it"

  • "This visit to Acitron was our second time dining there. The food was excellent on our first visit but this time we were extremely disappointed. The mole sauce lacked flavor, the chicken did not taste right, and the rice seemed dry, not fresh. We both felt that the food was lackluster."

  • "Tasty food, attractive presentation, reasonable prices, lively atmosphere - a fun place to eat."

  • "I've been here a few times now, and I've always been satisfied. This time, I had the fish of the day with a cilantro/onion/garlic salsa which was tasty. My wife had the shrimp in a tamarind sauce, also terrific."

  • "It is low key neighborhood gem with outstanding food. Everything is in balance: spices, flavors, portion's size. On the top of that the service is very quick and efficient."

  • "Second time I've eaten here and it was fabulous! Will come again and will recommend it to friends."

  • "Thought we'd be a bit adventurous and try something new: fried avocado appetizer. Batter not tasty and not something I'd order again. Sopas were pretty good, tho. Entrees: chile verde ala Baabs was very moist, well seasoned and good, whereas cochinita pibil was extremely dry...almost like a mound of pork cardboard....very disappointing. Sangria was ok...partner would've liked added splash of liquor or fruit juice to soften rough taste of red wine."

  • "Acitron has many dishes not found on the menu of your 'average' Mexican restaurant. Food was well prepared. Service ok. Priced well for a neighborhood restaurant."

  • "The food was delicious, but there was no air conditioning on a hot evening. Skip this place until the cooler months."

  • "Food was good. I will definetly go back. Drinks were very good. But the service was great. It was a busy Saturday night and our server ( I wish I could remember his name) took care of our hungry and thirsty party very efecientnly. Thank you from the 6 wearing peach!"

  • "Amidst all the many restaurants in down town Arlington, Acitron Cocina is a stand out. The food is always good, and the menu interesting. I had salmon and it was cooked to perfection with a very nice sauce, not too saucy, just right. My friend had the shrimp with cilantro sauce, which was a real treat. The margaritas hit the spot. The service was fine, especially considering it was quite busy for early on a Saturday night."

  • "We had high hopes for Acitron--great write ups and an interesting menu. So few really good and authentic Mexican restaurants left. Soem items were very good. We loved the roasted corn on the cob and the excellent quesadillas. But the salsa, though fresh, was a little tame, and the freshly made guacamole, though we asked for it spicy, was also bland. As main coursesd we had the steak fajitas (good), the chicken mole (shredded chicken in a passable mole poblano sauce but nowehre near as tasty as the old Forest Cafe's, and a very disappointing enchiladas verde--way too sweet. We were looking forward to a greart experience, but we probably won't go back."

  • "Took two friends from Chicago here who raved about their dishes. The service from hostess to server is cheerful and efficient. Do not recommend having hostess describe fajitas "in case our server does not" in great detail (we all know what fajitas are by now), only to have the server arrive a moment later and have to politely listen while he re-describes what fajitas are all over again. So no more doing that and you'll be A-OK!"

  • "We always have a great meal here. The service is friendly and knowledgable and the food is always fresh with just the right amount of spice. The grilled corn is great as an appetizer or a side dish. We have been to Acitron several times and we will definitely return. "

  • "Great selection of taco fillings, and real Mexican, not Tex-Mex dishes."

  • "The food was terrific and the service was as well. Our waitress was able to answer our questions about several menu items and make suggestions to guide us in our choice. She was friendly, knowledgeable, and responsive when needed. We never felt rushed and appreciate this fact. Acitron will be at the top of our list for great mexican fare."

  • "Our party waited a bit longer than ideal to be seated for a 7:30 reservation - a previous large party lingered. We found out why. Our server was friendly & informative. Our margaritas & sangria were great. Salsa, guacamole & home-made chips were savored by all. Question of whether the "Chile Verde A La Baabs" would be too hot, or cilantro-heavy, brought a generous sample of the dish from our server. (it was "just right"). Mole Poblano, (chicken in traditional chocolate-infused mole sauce), Camarones Con Salsa Cilantro, & Carne Adobada were enjoyed by all (much delighted sampling from others' plates). For dessert, "Flan Del Dia", (flan of the day), and "Tamal De Chocolate", provoked much "Mmm" & "Oooh" reaction. We certainly plan to return!"

  • "Food was not Tex-Mex, but had many touches from Puebla and elsewhere. There were six of us, we had several appetizers which we shared, ceviche was unexpectedly good, veggie enchiladas were exceptional, guacamole, salsa, etc. all excellent. Two of the six main dishes were a bit too heavy (Pulled Pork Pibil) and (Veggie Crepas), so take out bags were needed. Veggie stuffed peppers were extra good, as was corn on the cob."

  • "Food is the highlight here. Everyone loved their meal especially the corn-on-cob side dish also avaialbe as an app that begins with an E? Tostada app was hearty enough to be a meal. Tres leche cake was interesting butni wish the frosting was whipped cream not the sugary vanilla butter cream but just a personal choice."

  • "While this place lacks in size there is abundance of good food and friendly people who provide superb service. Will certainly return with family and friends."

  • "The food at this cozy restaurant is outstanding! The grilled corn is yummy;so are the drinks - try the skinny margarita or the sangria. Make a reservation on Open Table and GO!"

  • "Good chips and salsa. Good guacamole. Good caipirinha. Excellent shrimp in chipotle. Mexican beyond tacos, burritos, and empanadas. Good location. Gets crowded, but the service is very good so tables turnover at a reasonable speed. We are repeat customers who found the place on a whim while in Arlington Center and have now added this restaurant to our frequent haunts."

  • "We were very impressed with the appetizers. I had the corn, which was fabulous, slightly cheesy, tangy, it said chipotle, but I didn't taste it-wish I could've. My Husband had a quesadilla like appetizer, he said it was delicious. For entres, I had Chiles Rellenos--Rich sauce, delicious but needed heat, not spicy at all. My husband had something similar with meat and a white sauce that was very bland, he was disappointed. Overall, we agreed that the dishes needed some spice. No pepper at all could be discerned in our dishes. The tres leches dessert was fabulous! We also had a chocolate log thing with a cinnamon chocolate sauce and this amazing ice cream. the chocolate cake part was uneventful, but the ice cream was outstanding!"

  • "This small restaurant in Arlington Center serves excellent traditional Mexican food that is extremely well prepared and reasonably light. We have been twice and both times were impressed with the food. There are a lot of tables in a small place and they fill up pretty fast. The marguerites are good, however, and you soon forget the cvrowd as the food makes you happy. Parking can be a challenge but the reward is worth the hassle."

  • "Acitron is a step up from typical American Tex-Mex, and has some more authentic dishes. However, they tend to over-salt many dishes so that other spices are overpowered. While the cilantro shrimp dish was superior to most, their take on tamales was one of the least flavorful I have had. Their margaritas are definitely superior to most you will have elsewhere--and the jalapeño margarita gives a delightful "zing""
