ÁcenarWe went to the River WalkWe went to the River Walk for the weekend and our friends had been here before. We made a reservsation and asked for seats outside. They seated us with a view of the river. the service was absolutely outstanding! The food was good as well. I was very pleased with them both. Too often in tourist areas the food and service is a let down-- not here. They did make us wait for a table but we were a large group and ultimately were seated outdoors at a comfortable table - definitely request an outdoor table since the indoor section looked fairly sterile. great food though i think $4 upcharge for a few crumbles of goat cheese on some nachos was a bit ridiculous.

This place was recommended while I was shopping at Paris Hatters (where I bought my first ever cow-person boots). Food was excellent, but we were seated inside, upstairs, with no view or particular ambience. When we left we saw the fabulous patio seating and realized we missed the best view on the Riverwalk. They seated us immediately and our service was good. Our waiter for attentive and friendly. My children liked their meals. I had the shrimp and grits - very delicious. The atmosphere has a nouveau feel and had nice tables overlooking the river if you wanted to eat oustide - even had heaters when it's a bit chilly. It wasn't too pricey. Table was ready when we arrived and we had a great spot next to the river. Service was attentive and the food was excellent. Acenar is not on the busy part of the river which we liked because you can enjoy your meal without a constant line of tourists walking by looking at your food. Both were flavorful, nicely presented, and priced very well. If I am ever back in San Antonio I would definitely come here again. The wait staff was very attentive and we were able to be seated promptly outside by the riverwalk. This is one of our favorite restaurants, and the food never disappoints. I had spicy shrimp and they had the perfect blend of spice to make it comfortably hot. Our server was a bit aloof but we had a 2 year old so maybe he was annoyed by this or maybe he was just super busy. But he did let us know that there was a child's size portion of what I wanted so that was helpful. The host was great! Very cheerful and high energy. The menu is what I would call "unique tex mex," which was good, but check the menu if you have picky eaters (however they can probably accommodate any requests).
