Diner Reviews
  • "Excellent all around food and service. The wine list is a little skimpy and some of the dishes have a little too much garlic, but i would go back in a heartbeat."

  • "Big problem was service. The waiter had an attitude, didn't seem to like being asked questions about the menu, and disappeared for long periods of time. Very slow service. Food was good, but I would have expected better at these high prices. Wine list has very few moderately priced options, although the red we selected was excellent. Had a much better experience the first time we were here."

  • "I booked Acapella on behalf of a group for my husband's company. It's actually really hard to find a nice restaurant in NYC who will accept reservations for 9 people, especially on only a weeks notice. Acapella had no trouble with this and set a nice round table which comfortably accommodated the group. Since that night everyone in the group has told me that they had a really great time. The food and ambience was very good and the service they were given was impeccable, warm and fun and beyond efficient. Would absolutely recommend Acapella in the future for celebration dinners or any dinners at all, for that matter."

  • "We made a reservation for Valentine's Day and showed up at our scheduled time to be barely acknowledged by the hostess and realize there were at LEAST 30 couples still waiting in the bar ahead of us. The front entry way was absolutely filled and people just kept shuffling in, so we were all standing like sardines. It is clearly impossible for a restaurant to overbook to this extent unless they did it on purpose. The management must have sat down and decided that their agenda was to make as much money as possible money in one night, even if it meant really upsetting half of the customers. My fiance and I were very patient and waited over 40 minutes (only two couples were seated) before we left. I live two blocks away and will never be back."

  • "Reliable Italian that can sometimes raise to a 5 star. Good but expensive wine list."

  • "One of the the best northern Italian restaurant in New York. The portabella mushrooms and lamb chops are amazing. The service is excellent, had such a great time."

  • "The food was incredible... and wonderful enough to fly to NYC just to have dinner, The appetizers, the salads, the entrée... all of it... simply delicious. Our waiter was a little on the snooty side, which was a bit uncomfortable, but I guess it was part of the ambience. And still... the evening was great, because the food was outstanding. Highly recommend this restaurant."

  • "Expensive, but there are tons of waiters running around. Friendly, but just felt dusty and out of touch a bit with the 21st Century. Food was ok, but for example a fresh pasta was drowned in a hyper-over-creamy "truffle" sauce that basically killed the taste of truffle. Wine list way over priced and rigged, me thinks. Asked for a $50 bottle, but was told "we are out of it." Next on the list? $70+"

  • "We had a bad experience at this place. We began with the bad attitude of the waiters, very condescending and phony. The place is stuffy and surrounded by oppressive drapes. Fried zucchini, compliment of the house was 10% zucchini and 90% hot pepper, no zucchini flavor left. The pappardelle consisted of 1-2" square of pasta, some glued together with a creamy reddish sauce. Ice cream and sobet were from "Bindi" company or alike."

  • "It has taken me 3 years to go into this restaurant and I regret it my lack of faith. The food was surprising. I have lived in Rome for a year and a half, I am a pasta addict. This place is the closest I've had to an Italian home cocked pasta dish that I've had in the city so far. Might not be as sophisticated as others, but the pasta was al dente and the sauces excellent. The waiters were very attentive, and had character to spare which really made the ambience. The reason I don't give them five stars is how they decant and serve the wine, which was a bit brutish. Otherwise, I will most certainly go back someday. I'll bring the family. Not an everyday kind of place, its a bit expensive."

  • "Really nice dining experience. The wait staff is very attentive and very typical old school Italian - NYC style. If you are not used to it, it can come across as a bit pushy, so get used to it! Food was great and portions were nice. I had the Veal chop and it was excellent. Colleague had the Rigatoni dish and he enjoyed that as well. Very nice option for Italian when you are in the mood. Decor is very discrete. The tables were a bit crowded, but again, this is NYC."

  • "The food was awesome, the service great, we felt like royalty. Our kids gave us tickets to a show and a night in the city as a Christmas gift. Acapella happened to be near our hotel, the reviews were good so we tried it and were very happy. We will definitely go back and I highly recommend this restaurant. We were there Jan.2014"

  • "restaurant has an old school italian feel. food was delicious. we had the veal chop and the porcini mushroom ravioli special. highly recommend both. also had the banana flambe dessert which they cook at your table with a big flame when they add the liquor base. very cool. meal was definitely a bit pricey with wine so be prepared, but worth it in my mind."

  • "We were a party of six for New Years Eve dinner. The décor is warm and inviting. Had a great time, service and food are very good. Only drawback is the restaurant is too dark.(Some of our guests were put off by this.) We had to use our cell phones to read the menu."

  • "My girlfriend and I spent Christmas Eve at Acappella and had one of the best meals ever. Growing up, Christmas Eve was always about the fish and this night was no exception. From the scallop appetizer to the Dover Sole dinner, this made my day. The staff was very attentive to our needs and always asking how things are going. If you are looking a great Italian eating experience, then look no further than Acappella. This is a real gem of Tribeca."

  • "We had been to Acappella about 5 years ago during a visit to NYC and had a first class dining experience. When returning with friends we wondered if it would still be as wonderful and are happy to say that it was, Sergio and his team are incredible! The service is very attentive, the food is outstanding and the restaurant is always hopping. We will definitely return any time we have reason to be in New York!"

  • "My husband and I were first diners of the evening. Service was over-the-top, for instance refilling our water glasses after we had had each sip. Delicious Parmesan was served out of a Parmesan wheel as a complimentary introduction to the evening. We shared a delicious rigatoni appetizer, which featured sausage and mushroom in a cream sauce. The kitchen was glad to divide the salad, which we also shared. The chicken breast entree special was lovely. We were surprised not to be able to wait until after the appetizers were served to decide on our entrees. The server insisted we place our order all at once. It's easy to suspect they do that because the appetizers would have sufficed for an entire meal."

  • "The food, service, wine list was amazing. Made a huge impression on the woman I was went for a first date. The maître d' made you feel like a regular the minute you walk in the door. I am looking forward to my next visit back to this restaurant."

  • "Everything was great, from the nice greeting we got as we entered to the end of the meal. The wine steward was especially helpful. All of the courses were terrific, and well presented. We asked for a quiet table, and were seated in a nice area in a corner. If you are seeking to splurge on an exquisite dinning experience, in a quite setting with a few special people, this is the place for you. The food was divinely prepared and presented course by course. A very knowledgeable and attentive staff made sure our glasses were always full (both water and wine). An experience I hope to re-peat."

  • "What a wonderful, pleasant, friendly, comfortable, most upscale experience I have ever had. I entertain for a living and this has to be one of the best experiences from start to finish I have had. I took a groups of 8, mixing family and business people together. While you should expect food to be of a certain quality and selection at an establishment of this level ( which expectations were exceeded), it was our table captain and his servers that made this a most memorable experience for a group of out of towners... Go, eat, enjoy. I very seldom do the same restaurants when traveling but I will definetely be taking my own family there next trip!"

  • "We were celebrating Veteran's Day for my brother and had a magnificent time. Wonderful atmosphere, knowledgeable staff and by the end of the night, you will feel like you are transported into northern Italy for few hours without flying! The food was absolutely delicious and the service was impeccable. They even gave us dessert "on the house" in honor of Veterans' day. Thank you for making this special day even better!"

  • "From the decor to the service to the food...this is classic Italian all the way...a lost art...and one that I'm glad I found. The food was delicious - the complimentary grappa at the end of the meal was a lovely touch...and the personal service from the waitstaff made my father's birthday a truly special evening."

  • "We were led to our table where an army of staff greeted us. Throughout our dinner the service was constant and very professional. Food was very good from pasta dishes to veal. Wine list is extensive although pricey. Noise level is high but then again this is NYC."

  • "It was the wrong atmosphere for what I was looking for. I find the on line description very misleading. The staff had poor attitude. I was embarrass to take my friends there on their Saturday night. I thought we are going to a classic Italian in Tribecca....sounded fancy, but was very disappointing. Old and run down, bad attitude service, I will never go back. But I have to say the good was good."
