Diner Reviews
  • "Delicious food, graciously served, and a unique change from other American food offerings."

  • "Our party of 4 had, soup trio, still excellent, squash blossoms stuffed with pimento cheese, very savory, watermelon salad, and chicken and andouille sausage gumbo for starters. Some menu standards and some new, no complaints. Entrees were, pork five ways, i.e., bacon wrapped andouille, we didn't get the point on this dish, blackened redfish, the original Prudhomme fish which was excellent, seafood gumbo, and duck with dirty rice and collard greens stuffing which was new to me and an excellent combination. A long a time favorite which has kept the favorites, but continues to tweak the menu. A must for me when I come to DC."

  • "This place has some pretty amazing food. Its unique in that it is Cajun/Comfort food with a fancy twist. You actually leave here FULL. No tiny portions. The meals are actual meals. The Chef's are awesome and can pretty much fix anything you could want. Excellent Seafood. Service was good, not amazing, but the food made up for that easily. Definitely a great spot to go for a special occasion!!"

  • "I brought my husband here for a birthday dinner and he had a great time! He loved the ambience, the food, the service and the location of Acadiana. We will definitely visit this restaurant again!"

  • "I wanted to surprise my girlfriend for her 30th birthday. Arsalan went beyond the call of duty! He worked with me and kept a constant level of communication with regards to the set menu options, cake options, and other considerations. Our party of 10 sat in a private area. My girlfriend had her own take-home menu that was specialized for her. The appetizers, entree and the red velvet cake all tasted wonderful!!!!!!! I felt as though it was my birthday the way our server was so attentive. Thanks again!"

  • "I used to go to lunch once a month with a colleague who also enjoys Louisiana seafood, but since he left my visits have been less frequent. It was great to go back and see many of my favorites on the menu, like turtle soup, with more po' boy sandwiches and the specials were excellent."

  • "Went with parents, family, and significant others on a random weekday. There was a good bar crowd for happy hour and great drink deals. All of us had FANTASTIC food. Crab Cakes, Gumbo, Soup, Fish, Grits, Salads, Beef etc. I mean everything. Desserts were lovely as well."

  • "I love brunch at Acadiana, even more than dinner because they don't serve crawfish etouffee at dinner. And the perdu pain (French toast) is delectable, creamy and sweet."

  • "The gulf oysters were excellent, the gumbo was great. Good service, nice place, would definitely return."

  • "Great food, reminded me of New Orleans. Presentation of the Sazerac was outstanding."

  • "It was a nice variety of food on the brunch menu to choose from. My friend and I were celebrating our birthdays and having the menu with our names on it was a great touch! The presentation of the food was also nice and very filling. We had to take desset with us."

  • "Good food prepared in Louisiana-rich character. Service is impecccable in a neighborhood really coming into its own."

  • "The gulf coast has nothing on this place. The Chargrilled oysters are spectacular, as is the seafood in general. I had the gumbo for dinner. My friends enjoyed wine, fried green tomatoes, and the grouper. We are looking forward to our next visit."
    Dined on 6/30/2014
  • "The food was good (particularly the fried green tomatoes), but I'd imagine you can get better cajun food for much cheaper elsewhere."
    Dined on 6/30/2014
  • "Three for brunch, two of whom had been here for and enjoyed brunch before. Very good mimosas at a good price. Sauce on shrimp with fried green tomatoes was more like a cocktail sauce rather than remoulade as advertised on menu. Bland hollandaise on eggs sardou. Shrimp and grits was more like shrimp and heavy cornmeal patty, losing some textural interest. Swordfish skewer special was a TINY portion -- four or five one inch cubes -- with a big salad; guest would not have ordered it if he had been warned. Desserts -- beignets and sweet potato pie -- were quite good. Service could not have been improved on. Too bad the food didn't measure up."

  • "Acadiana offered a wonderful, food and wine. Enjoyed the brunch and would definitely go back. Highly recommend the shrimp and grits, and fried green tomatoes. Wonderful atmosphere as well. Would definitely go back and recommend to others."

  • "I recently enjoyed dinner with a friend on the patio, which is huge and elegantly decorated. Service was great and noise was low without being too quiet. I will definitely return."

  • "I took my boyfriend here to celebrate his birthday. After dinner he told me this was one of the best meals he had ever eaten. He had the BBQ Shrimp and I had the Veal. I am not typically a huge fan of Veal but something drew me to it and it was highly recommended by our server. It was absolutely delicious. There was a lot of flavor and the meat almost melted in your mouth. Our server was fantastic and made our dining experience very enjoyable. We will definitely be back again."

  • "The restaurant was extremely cold. So cold it is impossible to eat your food in a warm/hot state. The portions small."

  • "Went there for 35th wedding anniversary and it was a great experience Highly recommend to all my friends Once they found out it was our anniversary game over They could not do enough unique things to make us happy From Champaign through dessert outstanding"

  • "Polished traditional american style food. Good service. Since this is an American food restaurant, I would like to see more American wine on the Wine List."

  • "My wife and I chose Acadiana for the final meal (lunch) on our recent Washington trip. Turned out we saved the best for last. The food was excellent. Wonderfully presented and served piping hot. I thoroughly enjoyed the crab soup and seafood gumbo and my wife was delighted with her choice of beet salad and crab cakes. Our server was very friendly, appropriately attentive and helpful, especially in steering us toward the peanut butter mousse dessert, which looks absolutely wonderful and tastes even better. Can't wait to return."

  • "My family had a wonderful dining experience at this establishment. We dined on the patio and in addition to the food, which was excellent (oh, so good) the atmosphere was terrific. Although it was extremely warm that day, the fans helped to make dining a pleasant experience. This is our second time here and we are looking forward to coming again."

  • "Poor greeting, I've been here before and I believe I dealt w/ the same man who I believe was a manager and experienced similar attitude. It was very cold on a not so warm day. The place was practically empty but it took forever to receive water or anything. When the food arrived it was cold and we both had to send it back. We both ordered fish so I was confused as to why our food was cold. Very disappointed because I recommended the restaurant and my girlfriend wanted to go to Bayou Penn just several blocks down the road; The food is amazing if you want that Louisiana style taste. So between the bad service and the food being cold. I will NEVER go back. The manager never came over to apologize. We are foodies and dine out weekly."

  • "Went to Acadiana for Fathers Day brunch. Our server Tiffany was outstanding! She was professional, personable and attentive. Interesting food and drink options, even selections for people with shellfish allergies."

  • "This is my favorite restaurant in DC. However the food and waitstaff have gone downhill. Both my soup and entrée were under seasoned. The chef must have forgot to order salt. I still like the restaurant concept and menu. Management was very nice and prop. Our outdoor waitress was great however when we moved inside because it became too chilly our indoor waitress was horrible. I plan to give them one more chance before replacing them on the top of my list of DC .restaurants"

  • "Last minute date night with my wife. Glad I made this selection. Food, service, and ambience was simply great! Would highly recommend this restaurant for any occasion. Although we did not take advantage of it, out door dining looked fabulous also."

  • "If you need a great place to go with work colleagues or a special someone and want to be SURE that you'll have great food, come to Acadiana. When my boyfriend and I need a nice night out, we go here. I love eating here. We always have great food and a nice night that helps us relax and feel happy to be together."
    Dined on 6/13/2014
  • "Of three appetizers and three main courses for our group of three, only one item was not too salty--and one of us requested no salt on food and salty sauces on the side. Service very good but not outstanding, and the server describing a dish with "hairbloom tomatoes" does not affect that rating."

  • "My family truly enjoyed Acadiana. I took my husband and children for an early Father's Day dinner. We were seated right away, service began shortly after, and we had a great time the whole way through. Since I knew I was bringing a 2 year old, I tried for the earliest reservation possible and that was best. The staff gave her crayons and paper as well as the perfect size silverware! I do look forward to going back; this time for a date night!"

  • "but the New Orleans Style BBQ Shrimp was on the salty side this night (even salt loving husband thought so). The rest of our meal; category 5s, crab soup, charbroiled oysters, and his blackened Snapper, was delicious. Were too full for dessert but looked forward to the sweet bites that used to accompany the bill; disappointed they weren't offered. Will be there tomorrow for happy hour and might suggest the return of this sweet ending."

  • "The food and service were near perfect. The menu was a grand tour of New Orleans and the Louisiana bayous making selection very difficult even with the expert tutelage of our waitress, Amber. This 70 year-old “southern boy” has never had a finer gumbo with its deep mahogany roux and broad array of seafood bliss. The beignets were as good as any I have had at that well-known cafe beside the Mississippi. And there is so much on the menu to try on future visits!"

  • "We had an anniversary dinner at Acadiana...its a bit complicated to get there, given the one way streets. The restaurant is nice, but not a memorable environment. Not so the food, it was absolutely excellent. Highly recommend in this regard."
