AcadianaWonderful Business LunchVisited the restaurant for a lunch to catch up with a business associate and had a great meal and a wonderful time. The noise level was moderate enough to allow for conversation across the table. We had a lot to discuss and were not hurried by the staff. I had the shrimp & grits which was really tasty and a nice deconstruction with the grits in a cake form. One of my favorite places when I am in DC on business.5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMBam!Acadiana is consistant with the quality food, I know that if I'm taking someone there for the first time or the third time we are going to be treated to a wonderful meal. I make everyone try the deviled eggs, charbroilded oysters and the bbq shrimp as they are my favorites when they are underdecided and they has not yet been a disappointed person in the bunch.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMBusiness DiscussionI reserved a table for six for a business lunch. The round table was ideal for the needed conversation, and there were clean plates all around. The prices were reasonable. The ambiance supported the importance of the discussion. I had the fried catfish entree. Excellent. My only suggestion would be to put a plate under the wire basket, in case the diner is using a knife and fork to eat.5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMThe service was great; theThe service was great; the food was divine. Highly recommend. I went with 10 friends for my birthday brunch and everyone remarked what a great decision it was to go to Acadiana.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMCajun brunch with jazzLoved our experience - prix fixe menu didn't allow for strong mimosas, so we just got champagne instead. Everything else was perfect. Its only $2 mimosas and bloody marys with the brunch menu. Allowed us to try new things we wouldn't normally get.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMFun Derby crowd. We hopedFun Derby crowd. We hoped to enjoy the patio but we wimped out (like everyone else sitting outside) and moved inside after a drink. Everyone was very understanding and accommodating. We always enjoy their food and atmosphere. Thought we would start with some nice gulf oysters but since it was chilly by dinner, I opted for the gumbo and my husband the spicy grouper. Both delicious.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMUnbelievable food! I willUnbelievable food! I will absolutely be returning.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMVery pleasing dinner, will go againThe fried soft-shell crab special was excellent. I thought the green beans would be a bland side dish--but they were also flavorful, seasoned by shallots and the brown-butter sauce that was drizzled over the crab.
Husband ordered the duck. A delicious and generous portion, they could probably cut back on the amount of sauce they pour over it. It is very rich.
Apps were fine. Fried green tomatoes were good. Could have skipped the alligator fritters--more dough than alligator. Charbroiled oysters were great. Turtle soup was good, but not really something to order again.
Dessert: Blondie sundae was great, except it lacked the walnuts I was expecting to give the dessert a nice crunch. But still tasty. The husband's pecan tart was nice, too.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect birthday celebration!I was pleasantly surprised that the noise level was so much better than a few years ago when I ate there - of course, it was for lunch and this was an early dinner reservation. Also, I thought it was great that two of us were seated before our other two guests arrived, which isn't of the norm in most upscale DC restaurants. The waiter could not have been more delightful - Daniel I think? Food extremely high caliber. Not too many restaurants that advertise jumbo lump crab cakes actually serve lump crab. The wine suggestions of the waiter were perfect too, as well as the special drinks to the toast.5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of the best dining experiences!I can't say enough about how the restaurant went out of its way to make my wife's birthday a very happy one. The food, as always, was excellent. We were also given birthday treats which were fun, as well as surprising! It seemed as if the entire restaurant was doing everything to please us and we felt like we were the only customers.4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat D.C. FindThe food and service at this restaurant were great! A rare combination to find in the D.C. area.4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMWe celebrated my mother'sWe celebrated my mother's birthday, it was very special. The food was outstanding even to my mother and that is saying something! The birthday presentation was so nice!4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMWe were a party of three doingWe were a party of three doing a pre theatre dinner. We are from NY and 2 of us are in the food industry (meaning we are picky). The food was fantastic.. Especially the charbroiled oysters. The cocktails were a highlight. Our server Meg walked us though the details of the menu and then of the individual drinks and dishes we were considering. Because it was our first time to the restaurant, her patience and advice made all the difference.4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMSauce with the shrimp was amazingThe sauce with the shrimp was exquisite. The restaurant was also very gracious when we had a piece of grouper that came out dry by replacing it promptly with another meal.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMEverything we ordered wasEverything we ordered was cooked perfectly. The grouper was moist and flavorful. The gumbo was fabulous.
Our very favorite item was the three fried pies which were perfection. Also, we loved the butter/pepper jelly combo on the biscuits.
Very good.
The service was professional and friendly. If we are ever in DC again, Acadiana is on the circuit.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMFabulous baked oysters! The Parmesan oysters are out of this world. We went back on our last night in DC specifically for them . Highly recommend Acadiana for anyone wanting fresh wonderful exciting food. They have a bar drink, River Tea, that is so tasty. Highly recommend it to anyone who likes a subtle cocktail.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMI did note that we were celebratingI did note that we were celebrating Administrative Professional Day. I would have expected the waiter to at least acknowledge that. Other than that, it was a great experience.4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMFood is great! Started withFood is great! Started with oysters on the half shell & chargrilled oysters (my favorite). The group ordered gumbo, boneless short ribs, oyster po-boy, BBQ shrimp (Sooo good and buttery) & fish special. Nothing was left on our plates. Beignets were good (considering they weren't from New Orleans' Cafe du Monde)and key lime pie was great, too. Always a good experience at Acadiana.4/22/2013 12:00:00 AMNOLA FlashbackIndulged in a blackened catfish po'boy (dressed) and Abita Amber draft for lunch -- scrumptious! The po'boy's lighter-than-air Leidenheimer bread made even that huge sandwich do-able, although I could have handled even more kick in the blackening spices. Served with Zapp's chips for an authentic Louisiana experience (just visited NOLA three weeks ago). Ready to go back and try Acadiana's version of shrimp and grits!4/22/2013 12:00:00 AMThe charbroiled oysters wereThe charbroiled oysters were amazing as usual! The wahoo (sp?) special for the day was superb. An overall delightful dining experience for us 3 former college roomies, one of whom was visiting from Kingston, Jamaica.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMI went here twice in the pastI went here twice in the past month and both times was very pleased. The food is outstanding and the service is helpful. Overall, I would definitely recommend Acadiana.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMWe have been here severalWe have been here several times, never have been disappointed. The restaurant still shines as new, always clean and inviting and service is superb. The food is wonderful, but the pork dishes do tend to be on the salty side. This past visit we had the smoked chicken and andouille sausage gumbo, the roasted sweet corn and blue crab soup, the portabello mushroom salad, the meat pie trio, the pork boudin balls and the jalapeno cheese grits. We arrived early for our reservation and so ordered a cocktail at the bar to wait for our table. Great Bloody Mary's, again perfect service, a very comfortable place.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMFirst time there and lovedFirst time there and loved the high end cajun food including soups and roasted duck!4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellence PracticedI'm new to this area of DC and recently handicapped. Acadiana has installed a lift that handily eases me to the dining room floor without fuss or bother to other diners. My meals have been refreshingly novel because of the slight twist the chef adds to each food choice. Presentation is appealing which excites the desire to dine. And, most importantly, there are sufficient portions to create a thoroughly wonderful impression and satiate your hunger. Yes, I've found a seat at Acadiana several times and expect to find myself with friends there several more times. Oh! and lest I forget, the waite staff team members are unobtrusive, knowledgeable, perceptive and kind.4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMDuck is awesomeSecond time at Acadiana and I got the duck again. It's redonkulous. Possibly the best duck I've ever had. Plus, all the biscuits you can eat. Food here is great.4/15/2013 12:00:00 AMAS USUAL THE FOOD WAS DELICIOUS.AS USUAL THE FOOD WAS DELICIOUS. ABSOULTELY WONDERFUL AND COMPLETELY CONSISTENT. NO WEAK POINTS.
WE HAD A DIFFERENT TABLE THIS TIME. IT WAS ONE BY THE WINDOW WHICH WAS GREAT BUT IT WAS BOOTH STYLE AND WAS VERY CRAMPED. THIS DRAMATICALLY REDUCED OUR ENJOYMENT OF WHAT IS A REALLY LOVELY RESTAURANT. WHILE I KNOW SOME PEOPLE ENJOY BOOTHS (DON'T KNOW WHY) THIS ONE, ESPECIALLY, PROVIDED FOR VERY LITTLE ROOM BETWEEN THE TABLE AND THE SEAT AND REALLY PUT A DAMPENER ON THE BRUNCH. WE WILL ASK FOR A NORMAL TABLE WITH CHAIRS NEXT TIME.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMAcadiana has become a favoriteAcadiana has become a favorite for us. Food and service are consistently excellent. Sunday brunch is a real treat - though I didn't get to indulge this trip. Beignets are incredible - they are available as both dessert (3 of them!!!) and brunch.4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMAbsolutely delicious food,Absolutely delicious food, incredible and fun cocktail list, and overall a great space that is good for any occasion!4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMI've literally never had foodI've literally never had food that melted in my mouth the way Acadiana's did. Their southern twist from their drinks to their deserts is wonderfully refreshing.4/11/2013 12:00:00 AMSat outside, and the ambianceSat outside, and the ambiance was wonderful for a lunch business meeting. Would definitely go back!4/9/2013 12:00:00 AMHave been to Acadiana severalHave been to Acadiana several times and, as usual, service and food is very good. Love it here!4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMThe service was great! WeThe service was great! We had a very nice waitress! The crab soup was the best thing I ate (part of the soup sampler appetizer). I ordered the duck and was a little disappointed. The waitresses description(of this entree)was inviting but I thought the duck was a bit tough and overcooked. There were other things on the menu that I would like to try if I were to return. We had to take an early reservation (that was all that was available)~ 6:00. We actually arrived closer to 5:30. There were few others there at this point. We asked if we could sit by the window and were told no. Those table were being saved for larger parties. No one ever filled those tables while we were there. So that was a bit annoying.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMOverall, I thought the AcadianaOverall, I thought the Acadiana experience lived up to my expectations. The bill which came to $80/ party of 2 was expensive considering we only each had a two course meal and 1 drink . Entrees are fairly priced but appetizers, i.e. fried green tomatoes, were unexpectedly $$$$$ considering only four small slices came on the small plate.
The Louisiana Gumbo was fantastic and quite filling.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMLove Acadiana. Planned a greatLove Acadiana. Planned a great group dinner in one of their semi private seating areas! Loved it. Great for dates too! Food is out of this world and service is typically friendly.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMFull of FlavorThis is not your typical salt & pepper restaurant. The food here actually has flavor!! Delish.4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was amazing and drinksFood was amazing and drinks were just as good. Great ambiance, I love this place!4/1/2013 12:00:00 AMQuick service and yummy foodI went to Acadiana for Easter brunch. I was most impressed by how fast the service was. We had a reservation and were seated early. We did not have to wait long for our food, which was great. I enjoyed the jazz music playing in the background. The food was also delicious! We had a pre fixe menu, and I enjoyed all three entrees! I had the seafood crepes, shrimp and grits, and carrot cake (fave!). I would definitely recommend this place and look forward to going there again.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMFour of us went for EasterFour of us went for Easter brunch and once again our favorite restaurant was totally satisfying. The brunch is $29 a person and includes selection from appetizer, entree and dessert. Mimosas are only $2 extra. Shrimp and grits is best thing on menu; blackened tilapia is a bit spicy so beware; jambalaya comes in a healthy proportion. Pecan tart and carrot cake outstanding. Everything beautifully presented. Valet parking is only $7 and definitely the way to go because parking on street is a little difficult with construction going on around. I never understand why this restaurant isn't listed among the best in Washington as it is consistently good.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was great and serviceFood was great and service was good, no complaints.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMService was excellent, foodService was excellent, food was also very good. Only complaint is that the portion size for the gumbo was a little bit small.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMArcadiana specializes in Cajun/CreoArcadiana specializes in Cajun/Creole cooking. It does this quite well. Its bar is fantastic. The menu is varied and changes regularly. My wife had crab cakes which were beautifully done while my blackened veal cutlets with jalapeno spiced cheese grits were supurb.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMAuthentic Louisiana flavorsSix of us dined early on a Friday evening. Valet parking is nightmare - it is located on a section of K street which is one way and to which there is only one of 3 cross streets from which you can turn in. Park in the public lots nearby. Our server was great - always there when you needed him and pleasantly chatty without being intrusive. Food was generally very good. FGT and Oysters outstanding, deserts to die for. Main course gumbo was very peppery, and redfish was a bit over cooked, but only by a couple minutes. Wine list is surprisingly reasonably priced given the location. Joint was jumping throughout the evening, but never oppressive. Out of town vistors adored it.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMAmong the very best restaurantsAmong the very best restaurants with an extensive menu that has a cajun-creole flair. We always dine here when in the Washington, D.C. area.3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMCajun DelightIncredible Cajun food. More authentic than I expected.3/27/2013 12:00:00 AMA POTENTIAL FOODIE SPOTThe Roast Duck is AWESOME!!! I will be returning to check out additional menu selectons. It's seems best to make reservations, instead of walking-in and having to wait (PERIOD).3/26/2013 12:00:00 AMBest duck ever!!!The food was excellent, couldnt be better. Also the service was exc. The only detail is that we were seated in the back near a very noisy people.3/25/2013 12:00:00 AMWell doneWe had outstanding service. The staff was friendly. Our waiter was extremely intuitive. His recommendations were spot on. They have a nice beer selection.3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat PlaceIt is a great place for dinner. My friend suggested this place. I had the Roasted Duck,it is simply amazing. Also the waiter was very good, polite and answered all our questions patiently. We went as a group of 5 and we really enjoyed there. Also the desserts are awesome. We had Chef's special Bread Pudding and it is a die for. If it is your first time, you should go for ROASTED DUCK!!! Make a reservation before you go!3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent service and wonderfulExcellent service and wonderful food. Went above and beyond for us on a special occasion.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMthis was our third dinnerthis was our third dinner at Acadiana and the food has consistently been excellent. The Gumbo is among the best I've ever had. All was fine until I received our check and noticed we'd been charge twice for a cocktail we'd only ordered one of. I also noticed that one of my guests had ordered a glass of Chardonnay and the waiter brought the most expensive wine by the glass Chardonnay on the menu. When I pointed out the double charge for the cocktail it was immediately taken off the bill - Everybody makes a mistake but it still raises a red flag for the next time we go to Acadiana.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AM
