Diner Reviews
  • "The staff are attentive, friendly and professional. The interior decor is done in soft pastels and is pleasing to the eye. The food was well prepared for the most part albeit the wait was a bit long. More than likely because all items are prepared to order."

  • "Outstanding farm-to-table cuisine. Choice of smaller or full portions from entree list which was ideal. Everything we tasted was delicious. Fredericksburg, VA."

  • "We went to celebrate a birthday, they shoved us in a window seat and the air was blowing on us, the seafood was spoiled we sent it back and the ONLY person who was very sorry was the bartender who had nothing to do with the kitchen. The drinks were good but everything else was TERRIBLE!"

  • "if you look around you at the other tables you will notice there is not a salt or pepper shaker to be found. My conclusion is this chef believes that if you have to season the food, he's failed. The butternut squash soup confirmed this hypothesis with a perfect roundness of sweet, peppery, and curry flavors. The filet mignon that followed was perfectly cooked with grill seasonings that let the meat speak for itself - and the product was up to the test. Several good choices in wines by the glass with California, Northwest, Argentina, and France available. Service is very professional and prices quite reasonable for this level of dining experience."

  • "More vegetarian options please. The fried green tomatoes were a disappointment. The kung pao tofu too sweet. Brown rice please, not white. Primary reason to patronize Acaicia is server Alix, who (based on past experience at Acacia and elsewhere) is highly superior."

  • "The food and service were outstanding. We had the calamari, lobster gnudi, brussel sprouts and sea scallops and they were all incredible."

  • "I had the "duck duck duck" and it was excellent. I also had the fried green tomatoes for an appetizer, they were good, but not great. Atmosphere was quiet and they were prompted at seating us even though we arrived 30 mins early."

  • "We like the ambiance, the food could take little tlc but my wife and I enjoy coming to this restaurant very nice restaurant."

  • "Excellent restaurant, great appetizers and main courses and a very friendly and knowledgeable waiter."

  • "The menu had a nice selection of starters and provides an option of ordering entrees as a small or large plate. The wine menu had a lot of offerings; for example, there were more than 10 Chardonnay's to choose from, but there wasn't anyone with whom to discuss the differences between them. We wanted something oaky and ended up with a thin, acidic white. We arrived around 8PM; it was bustling and extremely noisy. One had to speak loudly to be heard. The dining room is carpeted, so it was surprising that the sound was so amplified. Interactions with the server were abrupt and rushed, although the serving of the meal itself was not rushed."

  • "As we head off to NC we took our neighbors out for a farewell dinner. Turns out their favorite restaurant was ours and Acacia lived up to the great meals we've had there once again. We spent longer than usual as we relived the past 15 years in Frederick and were never rushed by the staff. The meal was outstanding ranging from three different fish choices to Kung Pao Chicken. The brussels sprouts appetizer stands up to the best we've had in DC."

  • "Acacia is where I go with friends when I want to eat well and enjoy a good conversation. The food is delicious and beautifully presented, and very fairly priced. The service is attentive without being an interruption; and, the pleasant ambiance lends itself to leisurely conversation. A win/win experience."

  • "We love Acacia for the opportunity to have a small plate or a full entree of most of their selections. Wine list is more than adequate for glasses or bottles. Service is attentive and the wait staff knows how to describe the menu items. Have not dined in the courtyard although it looks lovely this time of year."

  • "This area reminds me a lot of Fells Point in Baltimore or Main St in Ellicott City. Most of the locations along the street were at one time Row homes that have been nicely remodeled as has Acacia. I also noted that many of the people who were dining there knew each other implying that it's a neighborhood favorite. Their Sunday brunch menu offers a nice selection which will accommodate most palates. I had the eggs benedict and my companion had the kung pao chicken dish. Both were very tasty. The saltiness of the ham on my eggs benedict perfectly offset and added to the tastiness of the dish. My friend was well pleased with the kung pao although she felt like there were too many red peppers. All in all I would go again."

  • "Acacia is right on what I think of as restaurant row. Tasting Room and Firestone's to the south, and Volt to the north. Food was tasty, and the service was very good. Not the best cup of Cappucino I've ever had, but at least they had it. Wine prices are very reasonable."

  • "My boyfriend and I made reservations just 30 minutes before dining, and asked specifically to be sat on their back patio. We were seated promptly, and the ambiance was exquisite. Beautifully lit trees, perfect for a midsummer night's date. We started with the heirloom tomatoes and iceberg wedge, which were average. We then had the brussel sprouts, which NEVER CEASE TO AMAZE! I could eat those every day! My boyfriend had the filet mignon, which was wonderful. I had the Duck Duck Duck! which was good, but a little heavy on the barbecue sauce, and could use a bit more flavor in the corn grits. Our server was AMAZING! Her name is Morgan, perfectly attentive. Overall a wonderful date night! We'll most likely be back again."

  • "My first experience years ago was great, so I really would have wanted to write a great review and being it was my wife's first experience with Acacia. Unfortunately, this past Wednesday night the Cuban tacos were greasy, the crispy shrimp were not crispy. The lamb was cooked wonderfully, however, the veggies that came with it were greasy. The creme bruley (or however you spell it) was great."

  • "This was our initial visit to Acacia. We were drawn to the restaurant from the advertising of "fresh", "local" ingredients and some great vegetarian and gluten-free options. We were not disappointed! The location was comfortable, and convenient to parking in the Frederick City parking garage on Church St. It was Sunday afternoon so not overly-crowded with options to sit up front with a street view, in the main dining room or on the patio. We opted for the patio seating that was in a quaint garden-setting in the courtyard. The food was most excellent in both presentation and taste (Sea scallops). Staff was friendly and extremely knowledgeable on the menu items. Definitely planning on returning."

  • "My husband and I were a huge fan of the Cuban Style Eggrolls. The grouper I had was delicious with a lot of complimentary flavors. Even my husband liked it and he's not the most avid fish eater. We'll definitely be going back again."

  • "Had a wonderful meal on an outdoor patio with highly competent service. Good and reasonable wine list. Will go there again, perhaps many times."

  • "Acacia, in all honesty, was a last minute reservation. My wife suggested going out to dinner and I had procrastinated to the point that most other places were unavailable. Sounds like an awful start to a high recommendation, doesn't it? Well, it was one of those times where my procrastination paid off in spades! Acacia was marvelous! Between a very diverse menu that included both a Chef's Tasting Menu and a regular small/large portion menu, a wine list that was not overly pretentious but had a good variety of reds and whites and service from Morgan who was very helpful, it was an excellent time. The Duck! Duck! Duck! and Chicken Milanese from the Tasting Menu were amazing, and the Shrimp Penne was astounding! In short: Go!"

  • "We took my parents here for their anniversary and were blown away by the food - scallops were to die for and several appetizers were also delicious, especially the Brussels sprouts! The ambiance on the patio made for a very special night. The inside ambiance left a bit to be desired, so I will definitely go again when we can enjoy the beautiful patio."

  • "Food was tasty and appropriate portions. Service was excellent and attentive. Dining area is somewhat small so larger groups tend to be noisy as was the case with our dinner. There is a small outside seating area but we opted for indoors due to the heat and humidity that still lingered early evening. Overall, a pleasant dining experience."

  • "Had reservations and specifically asked for outside table, got there and had to wait 30 mins for table to be ready. Then we were ignored entire time outside. Wanted a second glass of wine but server never came, no bread given, salads came at same time as meal."

  • "We've been to Acacia before and our visit this time was to celebrate a special occasion. It turned out to be a great choice. The food and the service were outstanding. We especially like the option of small plates, which are available for some entrees. My husband chose a small plate for his steak, which was wonderfully tender. I chose Cung Pao, which I hadn't remembered seeing on the menu before. It was spicy, but not overly so, and delicious. The service was friendly and just attentive enough to make sure we had everything we needed, without interrupting our conversation."

  • "It was our first time here. The website boasts of using local and organic ingredients, but surprisingly this is not mentioned on the menu. The service was not so great, I have no idea where our waiter was for the duration of our meal, other than taking our order. The food was delicious! I had the filet and my hubby had the pork. Both were perfectly cooked and mouth watering. "

  • "This was our first visit to this restaurant and it was absolutely wonderful in every way. Really look forward to returning. The food was great and we had requested a quiet table away from crowds which they accommodated without question. We were heading to a concert and were unable to stay for dessert but will be sure to do so on our next visit. "

  • "My wife and I made reservations on a Tuesday evening for my Birthday. We ate outdoors in the rear of the building. It was very nice. The food was done to order and was very good. The service was excellent. We go to this restaurant about four to five times ahead. One of my favorites in downtown Frederick. If I had one recommendation is that the fried green tomato appetizer was more corn meal than tomato and I would not recommend it. Rated it a 4 due to the fried green tomato. However, rest of the food was excellent"

Stewart is always pleasant and engaging making one feel like a VIP. Everyone is responsive, kind and knowledgable. A true please and a definite "Frederick go-to spot"!"

  • "What a charming place in a town already filled with charming places. The food, especially the nod to German dishes, was wonderful. But, the real treats are the owner and his staff who are more accommodating and helpful than any encountered in quite some time."

  • "My date who I hope to be my girlfriend ordered filet mignon it was overcooked, the potatoes were undercooked. I spent $100 on this place. I will not return"
