What a find with Acacia. Farm to
table where everything is tasty and complemented by sides. The short ribs were delicious and I can not say enough of the cauliflower side. Not sure what it was; it was like mac and cheese only with cauliflower. What a rich, flavorful and clever side dish. I would love the recipe!! The texture and consistency complemented the short ribs beautifully. The cheese plate was a wonderful appetizer. My wife enjoyed her scallop dish as well. There was a sauce on there that brought a sweetness to the dish. Excellent!! Being able to dine outside was a bonus!"

I decided to take my wife here for
her birthday and the place was magnificent! First off the atmosphere is amazing and the staff are very friendly. Our waitress wasn't just a waitress, you could tell she loved working at the restaurant and she knew exactly how every dish was prepared. We could tell our waitress was proud to work at such a fantastic restaurant and this showed in how she treated us while at dinner. Acacia's has an extensive wine list paired perfectly with the type of food they serve. I know with all the fine restaurants in such a close area in downtown Frederick it make choosing one rather difficult however make sure you do not pass Acacia's up! You will not be disappointed."

We've been to Acacia several
times. It's always been fantastic. Our waitress was fantastic suggesting several of the specials.. The food was well prepared and delicious... no complaints."

My husband and I had plans to meet
another couple at Acacia for dinner. We arrived early and had a drink and appetizers at the bar. The bar tenders were friendly and attentive. I ordered a shrimp appetizer which had nice favors but was very overcooked. My husband ordered calamari which tasted alright but was chewy. Once our friends arrived we were seated promptly. We all felt that the food was just ok. At the end of the meal our waitress brought the check and came to pick it up before we even had a chance to pay. She hurried back to the table and slapped the bill book on the table and called out, "No credit card!" as she walked away. We were all pretty surprised and uncomfortable. We paid the bill and left."

We've always enjoyed dinner at
Acacia, but this was our first brunch. It was great and we all enjoyed our meals in a . Of special note was the ham and Havarti melt and the pomegranate mimosas -- Wonderful!"

This was very nice, menu had a
variety of options and small portions were available. The food was very good and original. The dining rooms were nice and the outside patio will be wonderful in the warmer months to come. Service was attentive and we were not rushed. I would recommend this for adults, children probably would not be a good idea if they were under 15."

I am happy to pay more for
thoughtful, well-sourced food, and I am always supremely grateful for vegan and vegetarian options! However, this menu is WAY overpriced for the portions. Please don't misunderstand- I don't expect the typical Americanized supersized plates that are much too large, but two of my friends from NYC were in town (who are used to ridiculously small portions!) and even they were shocked at the amount of food they got in relation to cost. I don't know that I would return."

My partner and I had a wonderful
dining experience at Acacia. The atmosphere was wonderful; there was enough background noise to provide privacy but not enough to impede conversation. The food was wonderful, the portion size was perfect and the service was prompt without being overbearing. Specifically regarding the food, I had the scallops and my date the beef short ribs. Both were absolutely delectable. They were prepared perfectly with just the right mix of accompanying flavors."

We visited Acacia because our son
was celebrating his 19th birthday and a friend recommended the restaurant. Acacia is very accommodating: we had a 6:30 reservation but were running late and when I phoned, they were very understanding. One of our diners is vegan and again, Acacia is accommodating: several options on the menu are available and when another item was questioned, the server was quick to run back to the kitchen to check if it could be made vegan-how refreshing when the diner with a special diet is treated like everyone else at the table! An added plus was that our server was extremely knowledgeable about the food and could offer recommendations throughout our evening."

Twice in one month we've
encountered a server with an attitude. A third time and we won't be back! The food is decent. Entree salads way too small. I left very hungry. About 2 cups (maybe) of less than crisp greens and maybe 2.5 oz of chicken. I think they just take a side salad and put a little protein on it. No nonfat milk for cappuccino. If we give them a third try, they have a lot to live up to considering the excellent food and service right down the street."

Went for Frederick Restaurant week
- great Restaurant Week menu, service was good. Had brussel sprout appetizer (yum!) and steak dinner. The steak was pretty good, though the runner forgot to bring steak knives, it was pretty much too late by the time the waiter noticed, so that made cutting the steak challenging but it was moist enough to not be impossible. The steak dinner was good, but not amazing. My biggest observation of the place is that the decor seems to change from the front bar area (which I love) to the dining room in the back - which felt dated to me. Nice, but style is past its time. Overall, meal was good, service was good, and whole experience was fine - but nothing incredible."

Four of us enjoyed a very good,
leisurely dinner. Ingredients were fresh, well prepared, and each course was served hot for all of us at the same time. The kitchen understands what it takes to make that happen! Portions were generous, and a couple of us took home a portion of our main course. Acacia's nice selection of wines by the glass is short, but at least one would pair well with each main course. The waitress provided an erroneous description of the 1634 Ale as beer as being "a porter," it was just a good dark beer; and parmesan on the calamari when we asked for no dairy. I am glad we got there at 5:30PM because by the time we left around 7:00 it was getting difficult to hear each other."

tables are close together, hard
not to hear your neighbors conversation. Food was ok, felt that it needed more seasoning."
Dined on 3/7/2014
The food was great. The service
was excellent. Knowledgeable and helpful staff. Acoustics we're not so great. Even though the room we were in (toward the back near the patio) was carpeted, the room was very loud."
Dined on 3/7/2014
Great food, good service. Tables
were seated too close to one another on Valentine's Day so ambience wasn't great, but normally seating is spread out appropriately."

Based on a previous visit, I was
excited to eat at Acacia, again. But whole evening the word 'ill-conceived' went through my mind. The Maytag snack had good components, but was hard to eat. The crostini shattered as I bit into the arranged items. The bronzini was a particular let down. It was well-prepared, but a small portion. Plate was unappetizing, mostly white. Too much couscous, too little kale and an overwhelming amount of radish, the smell of which had me asking the server to remove the plate. Even the dessert with its delicious components was hard to eat. At no time could I get a bite of the tough marshmallow, frozen straciatella and crumbly crust to stay on the fork together. I will go back, though, because of my past experience."

We had heard that Acacia was a
great dining experience and it was! We made a reservation on a whim and we're surprised to find that there were just a few tables occupied when we got there at 7pm on a Friday. We were cheerfully greeted by several of the staff and led to table in the back. We started with the "snack" and ordered tasting portions of the pork schnitzel and fried trout and finished with the bread pudding. The food was fantastic and service outstanding. Treat yourself to a great experience and check out Acacia."

First, the food was delicious. We
were very put off by our waitress, who listened to our private convo, commented on it, treated us like we were not as important because we were there with a coupon. She said she could not substitute a winter hash that came with the steak-I wanted a veg (broccolini, spinach, or chard available with other entrees). Then she said she lied to the chef that I was allergic to something in the hash so he would sub. We almost walked out because of her, but glad we stayed to eat since it was so good. We are quite wealthy and eat out often-I lunch at Acacia regularly. Never such bad treatment. I used the coupon from the local magazine because I had it-why not? Will rethink further visits. Too many other choices."

Front staff and server were very
pleasant. Nice atmosphere and comfortable seating. Noise level was quite but it was an early dinner. Our server gave thoughtful recommendations and informed us about their use of local food. The calamari was delicious! The Vegetable Harvest was very nice and quite filling."

Excellent brussel sprouts - they
are listed under salad, but cooked, so like a hot side dish. Can choose small or full plates. Full plates are hearty servings and can easily order two and share. Or you can order a few small plates to sample. Our party had trout, crab cakes, scallops and filet - all were excellent. And try the caramel mousse with white chocolate for dessert."
Dined on 2/22/2014
There was a fair selection of
appetizers. The cheese platter was excellent with 4 varieties and the standard additions of french bread, walnuts, apple slices, dried cranberries, and apple butter (which was overly spiced). The bread for the table was dense and dry. 3 main courses were ordered: schnitzel, bbq duck, and the veggie harvest plate. The schnitzel was fair. The harvest plate was fresh and tasty. The bbq duck was bland and fries were overcooked. There was little selection for desert and so we ordered none. The coffee was very good and there was a nice tea selection. Overall I would say that if you are a vegetarian looking for a place to dine this might be your spot, otherwise, if you are looking for meat dishes - keep looking!"
Dined on 2/22/2014
Everything was amazing from the
food to the staff except the hostess. She was not very friendly or made you feel welcomed. The bread pudding is the best part of it all."
Dined on 2/21/2014
Front staff was great however our
waitress had some attitude, argued with us about the food. We went for valentines day however it wasn't very romantic since tables are in rows not very cozy. Too many tables, cafeteria like, not right for upscale restaurant. Food was mediocre not as good as I was expecting. Restaurant has been recommended to me from others but I couldn't see it that evening."
Dined on 2/14/2014
I ordered rainbow trout from the
entrees. It was encrusted with some sort of nut and looked interesting. Unfortunately it was lacking in flavor. My husband had the rockfish and loved it. My sister had lamb and loved that also. We all liked our desserts; bread pudding, strawberry 'gazpacho' and I've forgotten the name of the third dessert which was surrounded by marshmallow."
Dined on 2/14/2014
The setting and ambience of the
restaurant is so relaxing. The food was delicious and we enjoyed our evening very much. Service was fantastic."
Dined on 2/14/2014
Always reliably good food with a
creative twist. Medium rare duck special with excellent bread pudding timbale and spicy greens was tasty and well presented. Wine list has great choices. What does "Fit for Foodies" mean these days? If you like fresh local food prepared creatively, this is your place. Shouldn't have to be"fit for foodies"...."

There are many good restaurants in
Frederick and this is one of the top ones. We took out of town guests and they enjoyed everything-menu, food, service, atmosphere. It was a Tues night and we chose to sit in the window in the front and basically had the area to ourselves. Bartender was fantastic and so was the hostess. Acacia is my go to for a great downtown food experience without breaking the bank."
Dined on 2/11/2014
We love Acacia, and I took my
husband there for his birthday this past week. He was really bummed that the chef had changed the crab cakes; they used to have delicious gluten-free crab cakes that made Acacia one of his favorite restaurants in Frederick. Also, when I made the reservation on Open Table, I put in a special request for a gluten-free chocolate dessert for his birthday, as I know their gluten-free dessert options are limited. They apparently didn't receive my request, or didn't act on it; I didn't ask, as it was too late by then anyway, so I'm not sure which. We still had a very good meal, but we were a little disappointed all the same."

I scheduled a day date with the
BF. I asked for the window seat in the bar area, but they put us in a romantic two top in the restaurant area (towards the back). I wanted the window, but being at the table for two on this elevated platform overseeing the restaurant was OK with me. We have the Thai shrimp (similar to the bang bang shrimp by much better), the chicken sandwich special, and the steak sandwich. Every single bite was so yummy that all plates were cleaned. I will definitely recommend this place for lunch due to great food, and good prices. Not to mention the service was outstanding (although we had a late lunch so it wasn't very busy). Good for a date, family, or friend gathering!"

When searching for a family dinner
outing, Acacia always delivers. The food is wonderful (sourced from local farms), the wait staff is knowledgeable and the atmosphere is delightful. Children have their own menu of scaled-down "grown-up items-- no nuggets or mac and cheese here. My son loved that his dinner included his very own cheese and cracker appetizer. Acacia has become a favorite go-to when looking for a family get together or special occasion."

Took my mom for her birthday.
Every staff member we saw took the time to recognize her birthday--a real treat for her. The food was outstanding, and Acacia's farm to table philosophy ensures fresh, local food on the menu. Will go back and encourage friends to go as well. This is a classy neighborhood restaurant ."

Very nice ambience, the
friendliest service, and pretty good food. Loved the Thai popcorn shrimp appetizer."

We had the cobia special. It was
cooked to perfection and our waitress gave just the right amount of attention."

One of the top 3 best downtown
spot for haute cuisine. A favorite of my New York friends when they're in town."

and find the food and service to be consistently very good."

Our server Steven was excellent!
He explained the menu items and answered questions that we had about changing up some dishes for some dietary needs for us. We will be back!"

My wife and I enjoyed a rare
Friday night date, and Acacia provided a nice quiet setting. Seated in the back room, we enjoyed a very good meal and a nice bottle of wine. The Crab Coquets were very tasty, but a bit bready; more like a hush puppy, but very good. We both had the Cobia special. It was prepared very well, and the risotto was excellent. When we first arrived, every seat at the small bar in the front room were full, as were most of the tables. Very different felling then the quiet back dining area. If you want a more lively experience, request a table in the front."

We received gift cards for
Christmas and could choose between several restaurants. My husband was hesitant to go to Acacia because of the "cardboard with pasta sauce" that he had there close to 10 years ago. On the advice of friends, we took the chance, knowing that many changes had been made there over the 10 years. We were pleased with our decision. At one point I had to post on Facebook that I was considering licking the plate! We will definitely go back.....soon!"

Acacia is a new neighborhood
favorite. Living in Frederick, it's easy to find a great place to eat but this restaurant has definitely moved into my top three!"
Dined on 1/4/2014
Cosmopolitan was perfect. Kung Pao
didn't disappoint. Acacia chardonnay was excellent. It was a snowy Thursday evening so no one was out and about in Frederick and many places were closed. We had a leisurely dinner and wait staff was helpful and attentive. Great evening out!"
