Diner Reviews
  • "My husband and I recently enjoyed a wonderful Sunday brunch at Acacia. We had made early reservations close to opening time so we got a premium table near the windows with a view of the entire city of Tucson. I had the poached eggs with roast beef hash which were great, perfectly cooked and more than I could eat. My husband enjoyed the shrimp and linguine which had a generous portion of shrimp in a light red sauce. The service was attentive, the food and cocktails were great and the view and location are wonderful."

  • "We were seated at a window seat as requested. Good The downside was no nightly specials being offered, the grilled romaine was amateur, my steak was not med, but very well done and so dry I could hardly cut into it. Lastly, they overlooked the part about it being my birthday (which it was.) I did not complain about the food quality as it would have been embarrassing in front of my guests who would have waited until a new meal was prepared for me. This plate should never have left the kitchen... On the up side everyone else had great meals."

  • "Last minute reservation thru open table resulted in fabulous two topper next to the window with a great view of the entire valley. Food, service and ambience was fantastic. Note, this was a slow, off season, early Friday evening. Restaurant was not crowded. Marty, our server was warm, friendly and knowledgeable. We are from out of town. Finding this gem only 2 miles from our stay was a pleasant surprise. Nice selection of authentic Tuscan fare. Steamed dumpling apps were outstanding. The creamy mushroom risotto that came with the baked garlic chicken was the best risotto ever! Halibut with jeweled (saffron) rice another great dish. Cream Brule' was deep and creamy - only flaw was that the glazed sugar topping was a bit too thick."

  • "I got an email from Acacia about the "August Clambake"...it sounded fun, so we invited another couple who had never been to Acacia. It was pretty bad. There wasn't much food, and what food there was was just ok. This isn't the first time this location has disappointed us. Chef Hall changed his concept when he moved to this location and the food just isn't very good anymore, and certainly has less imagination."

  • "always just right ........ we dine there once a month and have yet to be disappointed with any aspect of the restaurant when in Tucson its a must"

  • "We have been wanting to try Acacia for several months now and we were very impressed. The location is excellent, food was fantastic and the service was top notch. The atmosphere was very nice, excellent views of the city and the price was very good. We will definitely return again."

  • "The Acacia hit high marks in all areas. The service was attentive without being obtrusive. There was an excellent variety in meal choices. Something to satisfy every palate."

  • "We took my visiting sister and niece to Acacia. The hostess seated us at a window table for a great view of the Tucson lights at sunset. Salads were fresh with a light dressing and garbanzo beans. The Honig Cabernet went well with the hanger steak, salmon and risotto. The potatoes with the hanger steak were particularly flavorful. Sea salt caramel and vanilla gelato completed the meal. The only negative was a suggestion that since there was a large group being served that night we were advised to order our main courses, promptly. And they arrived very shortly after our salads. While better than waiting interminably, it rendered the pacing of the meal a little brisk. Overall, a very good experience - we will return."

  • "We had requested a window table and were greeted with that acknowledgement. The four of us felt we had one of the best meals "out" ever. Our waiter could have been a little more attentive as to drinks, but all in all, we had a very happy experience."

  • "This was the perfect spot for a first date in that we were able to talk with one another without a feeling of being rushed by the staff so they could hurry up and get another customer in place. We chatted over cocktails for some time, then ordered appetizers, and when we were ready ordered our main courses while enjoying a wonderful view of the city. It was a great experience and to top it off with the food was simply outstanding. We both were very pleased with the service and food at Acacia. BTW I never give the top mark in surveys so you should feel satisfied with the rating I gave for this review. But tell me how did you come up with the nickname as it was very fitting??"

  • "My friend and I both had the small filet with the delicious cheesy potatoes. We shared the house salad which was also delicious and topped off the meal by sharing a strawberry shortcake . The shortcake was actually part of a special menu item of the night, but the chef graciously agreed to let us have it. I can always count on Flemings to prepare the steaks exactly as ordered - medium rare is actually medium rare. The only non perfect part of the evening was when we tried to order wines from the small menu at our table and were told those were from the bar happy hour menu and could not be ordered in the dining room. In spite of that it was a delightful evening and a good way to celebrate my retirement."

  • "There isn't much that can be said about Acacia that has not already been said. This is a top Tucson restaurant. Our party took advantage of the summer special and everything was great. we were afraid that perhaps the portions would be on the skimpy side but that was not the case. Our wait person was terrific. She was friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about the food and wine. we had requested seating in a quiet side room and that was made available for our group. All in all, this was a most enjoyable experience."

  • "The view alone is worth a visit but the food and service were excellent. The chopped salad was large even for a 1/2 portion. One of us had a steak and one had fish. The mix of flavors with the fish was very tasty. For dessert, we were told the key lime pie is a favorite and we both had it and loved it. The view is of the city lights from above the city. it is a restful place to eat and would be nice for a special occasion. The cost is a bit high compared to other restaurants but was worth it."

  • "My family are very picky about the fish, we grew up having the daily, just off the boat fish, and it's been hard to come by in Tucson area. The halibut we all ordered was SUPER, we requested to cook medium rare, just to the point of turning opaque, it turned out perfect - LOVED it. We can tell it's very fresh, thank you! The risotto could be warmer though. Calmari was fair, the spicy sauce was way too vinegary, ask on the side. Rose is a very attentice server, we enjoyed her proffessionistsm. The views are gorgeous. Noise are quite high, since we were sitting next to a group...."

  • "While Acacia has a stunning city lights view at night, we found the food to be OK. One of our party ordered the "signature salmon". It had to go back THREE times for the fish to be cooked properly. First time it was served, it was raw, second time still under cooked, third time OK. The server did not ask the customer how he would like his salmon cooked. My "crispy" duck was soggy. So, we probably won't be back...."

  • "Disappointing lunch...especially for a vegetarian-vegan which I am. Very few such choices on the menu. Ended up with a small bunch of leaves from the heart of Romaine with balsamic dressing dribbled sparingly over it. The two tomato slices beside it were not even red. That was my plate! Nothing else was served--no other garnish, vegetable, no bread. The glass of Zin was fine, but one of the few wines that could be ordered by the glass. Requesting bread, I was delivered, after quite some time, a disgusting cake-like, tasteless bread. I do not plan to return."

  • "Great location on second floor with view of the city. Food was not very good, salads were overdressed, New York strip was tough. Plastics placemats and and lacquered table tops. Would not go there again. "

  • "We brought our neighbors for dinner because they've been watching our house all summer long for 17 years! The waitress was wonderful, knowledgeable & very pleasant, and the food was just delicious. We will highly recommend Acacia & will be back."

  • "We have been long time Acacia fans going back to the old location. In fact, it used to be one of our favorite restaurants in town. However, we dined there for Mother's Day and were really disappointed. The service, at the beginning of the meal was slow. The wrong soup was brought out. However, it was quickly corrected. Of the 3 entrees, one of us really liked their meal and 2 were really disappointed. One of the steak entrees was not medium rare as asked for. It was over done and the person who ordered the trout felt that it was very "fishy" and just really didn't care for it. I think in the future, will still dine in the bar (bar menu has always been really good) but avoid the dining room. "

  • "Did Chef's Tasting. Trout excellent. Steak on Chef's tasting was mediocre, but those who ordered steak fared much better. Wines on Tasting menu was average. Desserts were excellent. Reasonable experience."

  • "We're staying at the Westin La Paloma and the bar tender recommended this spot. The menu was great for food and wine. The service staff was fabulous, the cocktails great, and the food really good. We split a schnitzel and the portion was perfect for both so us. Overall we highly recommend Acacia!"

  • "The trout and chicken entrees were good; the duck was grossly overcooked. The scallop appetizer was good; yhe filo pastry dessert was soggy from preparation long ago. Acacia has repeatedly disappointed since its move north. Many restaurants in Tucson, in our experience, offer better value."

  • "I wish that we could pick the table or area we would like to sit in. I was hoping to get a table by the window so I could see the city lights. It would be nice to have that option. The server was a little slow, we did have to wait at times to be waited on which we thought was unfortunate for a restaurant of your caliber."

  • "I have been to Acacia a number of times and they never disappoint. My wife and I took her mother out for a special dinner after a rather exhausting day. Mom needs to use a wheelchair and it was accommodated effortlessly. The food (we all had salmon) was wonderful as expected as were the salads. The noise level, seemingly always a problem, was low enough for easy conversation. Go and enjoy!"

  • "We held our annual share holders dinner in the small private room. First we had s cocktail in the bar and the staff was very accommodating. Our waiter was outstanding. He seemed to appear at exactly the right time. We also thought the price was exceptional for the level of service and quality of the meals. They don't know how to make an Irish Coffee, but nobody else in town does either!"

  • "There was a wonderful variety of interesting choices that you don't find everywhere. The presentation was a creation and a great photo op. It is a go to place for out of town guest because of the wonderful view. We look forward to our next visit."

  • "The entrees all come with two or three delicious sides that complement the entrée. For the expense of the meal, I think tablecloths would be nicer that the plastic placemats. Service is excellent."

  • "Acacia was not bad. But for me it did not live up to its reviews. I was not thrilled with neither the ambiance or the food. "
