Diner Reviews
  • "We had requested a window table and were greeted with that acknowledgement. The four of us felt we had one of the best meals "out" ever. Our waiter could have been a little more attentive as to drinks, but all in all, we had a very happy experience."

  • "This was the perfect spot for a first date in that we were able to talk with one another without a feeling of being rushed by the staff so they could hurry up and get another customer in place. We chatted over cocktails for some time, then ordered appetizers, and when we were ready ordered our main courses while enjoying a wonderful view of the city. It was a great experience and to top it off with the food was simply outstanding. We both were very pleased with the service and food at Acacia. BTW I never give the top mark in surveys so you should feel satisfied with the rating I gave for this review. But tell me how did you come up with the nickname as it was very fitting??"

  • "My friend and I both had the small filet with the delicious cheesy potatoes. We shared the house salad which was also delicious and topped off the meal by sharing a strawberry shortcake . The shortcake was actually part of a special menu item of the night, but the chef graciously agreed to let us have it. I can always count on Flemings to prepare the steaks exactly as ordered - medium rare is actually medium rare. The only non perfect part of the evening was when we tried to order wines from the small menu at our table and were told those were from the bar happy hour menu and could not be ordered in the dining room. In spite of that it was a delightful evening and a good way to celebrate my retirement."

  • "We went to celebrate our one year anniversary- which just happened to sync up with fathers day. The food qas fantastic and service was even better! Our server gave great recommendations for the menu and even better travel t8ps for the area! We cant wait to go back!"

  • "There isn't much that can be said about Acacia that has not already been said. This is a top Tucson restaurant. Our party took advantage of the summer special and everything was great. we were afraid that perhaps the portions would be on the skimpy side but that was not the case. Our wait person was terrific. She was friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about the food and wine. we had requested seating in a quiet side room and that was made available for our group. All in all, this was a most enjoyable experience."

  • "The view alone is worth a visit but the food and service were excellent. The chopped salad was large even for a 1/2 portion. One of us had a steak and one had fish. The mix of flavors with the fish was very tasty. For dessert, we were told the key lime pie is a favorite and we both had it and loved it. The view is of the city lights from above the city. it is a restful place to eat and would be nice for a special occasion. The cost is a bit high compared to other restaurants but was worth it."

  • "My family are very picky about the fish, we grew up having the daily, just off the boat fish, and it's been hard to come by in Tucson area. The halibut we all ordered was SUPER, we requested to cook medium rare, just to the point of turning opaque, it turned out perfect - LOVED it. We can tell it's very fresh, thank you! The risotto could be warmer though. Calmari was fair, the spicy sauce was way too vinegary, ask on the side. Rose is a very attentice server, we enjoyed her proffessionistsm. The views are gorgeous. Noise are quite high, since we were sitting next to a group...."

  • "The food was terrific and the view of the city at night was wonderful. Service was prompt, professional and friendly."

  • "While Acacia has a stunning city lights view at night, we found the food to be OK. One of our party ordered the "signature salmon". It had to go back THREE times for the fish to be cooked properly. First time it was served, it was raw, second time still under cooked, third time OK. The server did not ask the customer how he would like his salmon cooked. My "crispy" duck was soggy. So, we probably won't be back...."

  • "The ambiance, service and tasting menu, with paired wines, were superb!"

  • "Disappointing lunch...especially for a vegetarian-vegan which I am. Very few such choices on the menu. Ended up with a small bunch of leaves from the heart of Romaine with balsamic dressing dribbled sparingly over it. The two tomato slices beside it were not even red. That was my plate! Nothing else was served--no other garnish, vegetable, no bread. The glass of Zin was fine, but one of the few wines that could be ordered by the glass. Requesting bread, I was delivered, after quite some time, a disgusting cake-like, tasteless bread. I do not plan to return."

  • "Great location on second floor with view of the city. Food was not very good, salads were overdressed, New York strip was tough. Plastics placemats and and lacquered table tops. Would not go there again. "

  • "totaly excellent no need to write more so i wish I didn't have to come up with 50 words before I can stop NOISE LEVEL is BAD ; they need to put something on the celing. We all had headaches from trying to shout"

  • "We brought our neighbors for dinner because they've been watching our house all summer long for 17 years! The waitress was wonderful, knowledgeable & very pleasant, and the food was just delicious. We will highly recommend Acacia & will be back."

  • "We have been long time Acacia fans going back to the old location. In fact, it used to be one of our favorite restaurants in town. However, we dined there for Mother's Day and were really disappointed. The service, at the beginning of the meal was slow. The wrong soup was brought out. However, it was quickly corrected. Of the 3 entrees, one of us really liked their meal and 2 were really disappointed. One of the steak entrees was not medium rare as asked for. It was over done and the person who ordered the trout felt that it was very "fishy" and just really didn't care for it. I think in the future, will still dine in the bar (bar menu has always been really good) but avoid the dining room. "

  • "Did Chef's Tasting. Trout excellent. Steak on Chef's tasting was mediocre, but those who ordered steak fared much better. Wines on Tasting menu was average. Desserts were excellent. Reasonable experience."

  • "We're staying at the Westin La Paloma and the bar tender recommended this spot. The menu was great for food and wine. The service staff was fabulous, the cocktails great, and the food really good. We split a schnitzel and the portion was perfect for both so us. Overall we highly recommend Acacia!"

  • "The trout and chicken entrees were good; the duck was grossly overcooked. The scallop appetizer was good; yhe filo pastry dessert was soggy from preparation long ago. Acacia has repeatedly disappointed since its move north. Many restaurants in Tucson, in our experience, offer better value."

  • "I wish that we could pick the table or area we would like to sit in. I was hoping to get a table by the window so I could see the city lights. It would be nice to have that option. The server was a little slow, we did have to wait at times to be waited on which we thought was unfortunate for a restaurant of your caliber."

  • "The chefs tasting menu was enjoyed by all in our party. The wine pairings with each course were exceptionally well done."

  • "I have been to Acacia a number of times and they never disappoint. My wife and I took her mother out for a special dinner after a rather exhausting day. Mom needs to use a wheelchair and it was accommodated effortlessly. The food (we all had salmon) was wonderful as expected as were the salads. The noise level, seemingly always a problem, was low enough for easy conversation. Go and enjoy!"

  • "We held our annual share holders dinner in the small private room. First we had s cocktail in the bar and the staff was very accommodating. Our waiter was outstanding. He seemed to appear at exactly the right time. We also thought the price was exceptional for the level of service and quality of the meals. They don't know how to make an Irish Coffee, but nobody else in town does either!"

  • "There was a wonderful variety of interesting choices that you don't find everywhere. The presentation was a creation and a great photo op. It is a go to place for out of town guest because of the wonderful view. We look forward to our next visit."

  • "The entrees all come with two or three delicious sides that complement the entrée. For the expense of the meal, I think tablecloths would be nicer that the plastic placemats. Service is excellent."

  • "Acacia was not bad. But for me it did not live up to its reviews. I was not thrilled with neither the ambiance or the food. "

  • "Perched high above northern Tucson, views from dining area windows are extensive. Modern touches (art, drapery...) and layout complimented the dining experience. Extensive menu options allowed party members to select and share opening, main and dessert courses. Foodies will appreciate preparation (flavors, textures and presentation). Excellent wine list offers number of single glass options. Service was professional, friendly and non-solicitous. Noise level was minimal and our party conversed freely without being overwhelmed by other diner's conversations. We'll gladly return when visiting Tucson."

  • "We enjoy the views and the excellent food at Acacia. Our only frustration is their attitude about the tables by the windows. I've requested window tables in the past, been told they cannot be reserved or guaranteed, and rarely have been seated there because the tables were already full. We decided to go really early and were the only customers in the dining room when we arrived. We asked nicely for a window table, and were told they had all been "requested." We suggested that since no one else was even there, our in-person request should be honored, and after some uncomfortable discussion, the hostess relented and seated us by the windows. The food and views were still excellent, but our mood was dampened by the contentious arrival. "

  • "Out of town guests always appreciate the view and then are complimentary of the casually proficient service and quality food preps. A local favorite to be sure, but the quality here seems to be unexpected for those who don't know how far Tucson has come in this category."

  • "Food was only ok. Had swordfish and it tasted as if it was broiled than stored in some kind of tasteless liquid until it was ordered. Then it was reheated and served. Mushy and tastless. Drinks were expensive. Christian Brothers brandy was same price as Johnny Walker Black!!"

  • "I met a friend for lunch and chose the restaurant based on the drink menu. I was really disappointed in the house margarita. It tasted very much like it was premixed and poured straight from a commercial bottle. For an appetizer I had the onion soup. It was a solid dish but not outstanding. I ordered the fish and chips for my entree and it was also pretty good. The server however, was very accommodating with my tweaks to the sides. The server also recommended the zebra brownie dessert that my companion and I shared. THAT was a home run. The sea salt on top in the caramel and ice cream made the very rich brownie delightful. Too bad it really was the highlight of my meal. The view was very pretty and the staff was very good."

  • "The entrance is up a flight of stairs, so I couldn't take my elderly parents here. If there is an elevator we weren't aware of it. Once we got inside we loved the decor and the quiet jazz music. We were seated by the windows and the view from this second story restaurant was very nice, but not a Catalina Mountain view. We were both very happy with our vegetarian choices. My pasta dish was totally yummy! And my friend enjoyed her salad and sweet potato fries. Our waiter was very professional and friendly and never let me run out of iced tea. The food was reasonably priced. Overall, it was an excellent lunch experience."

  • "A wonderful place for an early dinner- get there before sunset and watch the evening light change to night over the Tucson basin. See the lights come on and the mountains vanish into night. Great service and a very enjoyable tasting menu make the evening well spent. The decor is a little odd - a mix of classic and ecelectic that doesn't really work, but focus on the view and you will enjoy."

  • "What a fantastic experience! My daughter picked it out for her 18th birthday. We chose it after looking at various menus on-line. Every course was spectacular! We started with the calamari and flat-bread. My daughter had the three course tasting menu, I ordered the Scottish Salmon and my boyfriend was presented with the most succulent steak. We finished with the peach cayenne in phyllo (my favorite taste combination of sweet and spicy) and the soothing blood orange gelatto. Our server was great! She was friendly and very attentive. Overall, I rate Acacia a 20 out of 10. We will definitely return and try more of the delicious sounding creations!"
