  • "I ate here with my husband of our anniversary. We each got a steak and it was very good, perfectly cooked. The Peach cobbler for desert was also great."

  • "I like this restaurant more than any other in Boston."

  • "I was surprised to find that the restaurant was at capacity at 1pm on a Sunday afternoon. The server appeared to be flustered & did not give the service that I would expect from an establishment such Abe & Louie's. We ordered one item from the menu, only to be told that it's inclusion on the menu was a "misprint" and was not available. We orderd a side dish, which was described one way on the menu, only to have it served completely the opposite. Having been to this restaurant before, I found this visit completely disappointing, especially for the price you pay."

  • "Abe and Louie's was recommended to us as a great place for brunch and we were not disapointed. There were so many great choices on the menu we had trouble narrowing it down and have decided we'd just have to go back again! My husband said it was the best steak sandwich he's ever had!"

  • "While I must admit that the food was outstanding, the staff from the moment you walk in are in much need of a CUSTOMER SERVICE training class. I have never encountered such attitude from staff in what is supposed to be a "high" end establishment. While I am a big beleiver in never say never, I can say with confidence I will NEVER return to Abe & Louie's nor will I ever recommend them!"

  • "Loved my dinner. Ordered the sword fish which came in overcooked, but they switched it in lightning speed to shrimp and scallops, which were delicious. Must confess though.....missed the old bread basket!"

  • "We enjoyed an absolutely fantastic lunch/brunch on Saturday. At first we were disappointed there were no lobsters offered during lunch. However, the ceaselessly friendly staff ( especially the waiter) asked the chef to steam two 2-pound lobsters for us. Our third guest had a delicious Delmonico steak. The giant wedge salad was excellent along with piping hot clams casino and clam chowder for our appetizers. We ordered over zealously for our side dishes: the portions were huge. The smashed Yukon potato galette was outstanding (it may be called something different. I must especially add how lovely and relaxing the atmosphere was even during the busiest part of the day."

  • "This is a steak place. The market fish came cooked perfectly with no seasoning and no sauce. It tasted like I was on a weight watchers diet, very bland, and nothing worth noting. Truly unspectacular. However, the appetizer was great and the service was extremely good. One other word of advice, don't eat upstairs...no vibe, at all."

  • "Great place to eat or have drinks on the bar. Really nice place to impress a special someone if is a date or Anniversary they wont leave disappointed. the wait time wasn't long, the service was amazing there was always someone attending to our needs. The staff always had a smile on their faces which made the mood very pleasant. i would recommend this place to many couples or families wanting to have a good experience and have great food."

  • "Every time we visit Boston, Abe & Louie's is one of our "must do's". Hope to be back soon. Always is a special experience for my wife and I."

  • "The food was very good and our waiter did a great job. One of our steak order was not prepared as order - too rare and they took it back to cook more. This took a little away from the experince buy we still had a great experience."

  • "I love it when a restaurant actually seats you at the time of your reservation....did not have to wait! The server was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. I had the swordfish and my friend had the filet....both were absolutely delicious! I would highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely return the next time I'm in Boston!"

  • "Fantastic from greeting to dessert!!! We were welcomed by a lovely smiling face and taken to our table. The atmosphere was fantastic. We loved seeing all of the amazing Remington Statues all around the restaurant. Our meals were perfect and the sides were HUGE quantities!!!! Share your starch and your veg between 2 people!!! My Delmonico was perfect and my wife loved her Filet! We had a crazy good chocolate cake slice that we shared (thank god, as it was so large one of us could not have finished it!!) This restaurant his now found itself on our Top 5 all time list with Harry Carry, Galligers, Butcher & Singer and Binions!!!!"

  • "Did not live up to what heard or read. Delmonico was not trimmed properly, way to much kernel and outside fat. Filet was too dry and a bit chewy. Substandard service... Had to repeatly ask for water and coffee. Non responsive. Not worth the money."

  • "This was the first time eating at Abe & Louie's, we wanted a place unique to Boston, not a chain like Ruth Chris, Mortons or Smith & Wollensky, etc. (not like there's anything wrong with those places). This put me in the mind of the Erie Cafe or Gibsons in Chicago, I was very impressed! My wife & daughter had the bone in filet & the 8oz filet respectively, I had the bone in rib-eye, all cooked perfection. All three steaks had exceptional flavor. Our sides were scalloped potatoes, baked potatoes, and lobster mac n cheese, these are all larges enough to share, and fantastic. The lobster mac n cheese was great!!! Our bill with tip was $280, just what you'd expect from a high end steak house but definitely worth it!"

  • "Abe & Louie's reminds me of great Boston landmark restaurants that exist no longer: Dini's, Schroeder's. Creamed spinach is a dead give-away for "proper" Bostonians. The menu, while limited, features excellent cuts of meat and fish that are not drowning in exotic sauces. My steak was lovely. Potatoes au-gratin were superb. When my dining companion's tuna steak appeared, it was clearly over-done. The waiter was displeased and whisked it away for a replacement. Our cocktails and wine were a perfect complement to the meal. A pleasure to eat at Abe & Louie's."

  • "A year ago we had severely undercooked steaks (in a steak restaurant, of all things!). Obviously something was very wrong in a kitchen that was previously legendary for perfection. We decided to give it a year, to see if they could fix the problem. So back we went with our fingers crossed and rooting for them. The result was better than last year (we didn't send them back), but they were undercooked again. Much of the steak for each of us was quite good, but there were parts we needed to work around and leave on the plate. To us, Abe & Louie's is no longer the best steak house in Boston. Too bad."

  • "Took in a RedSox game at Fenway walked back to Abe & Louies from the ballpark ready to be wined and dined and they did not disappoint! Steaks were outstanding, salted baked perfect and the service was excellent from the moment we came through the door. We were at Abe & Louies about 7 months ago and didn't seem as nice as this time around, so glad we gave it another shot. Maybe it's just the great summer atmosphere with the doors opened fully out to a very busy city scape that makes it just so right! Great deal on a bottle of wine they had as a special and it was."

  • " Very slow service. Food not particularly tasty, as well as overpriced and unattractively presented; waiter not enthusiastic and mixed up our order; we will not come here again."

  • "My favorite place in Boston for a steak. In fact one of the best places period."

  • "Tuna tartare and salad appetizer were excellent. One of the entree was ok, a Wagyu steak coming from Australia, juicy but flavorless. The other entree, a butterfly filet , was terrible, overcooked, burnt and extremely dry. The sides were good. After complaining we were offered a free dessert. Cream Brûlée , custom made (in practice they prepared the hard top crust). We appreciated the effort, but the result was disappointing, the dessert felt like a frozen greek yogurt with some artificial vanilla flavor. Also the wine, served as Sav. Blanc but most likely a Chardonnay, was disappointing. The experience was ok, but from this type of restaurant and at this level (>$100/each) of pricing, the experience should be impeccable."

  • "The overall experience at Abe & Louie's was terrific. My husband and I love steak , the steak we had was simply amazing. The clam chowder soup was exquisite . The ambiance was very romantic. We had a great time. We can't end this without saying how our server Chris was exceptional. He gave us and amazing service we thank him. I can't say anymore it was wonderful. Thanks."

  • "My boss recommended that I try Abe and Louie's. So my fiancé and I go, we have a drink at the bar, which was great, bar service was good. Then we are seated our waiter is unattentive to our needs. I ordered my steak medium and it came out well. My fiancées steak was also over, but she was fine with it. We were never brought steak knives and the chef had to get me one for my second steak. (Which was smaller in size I guess out of spite for sending an over cooked $50 steak back.) waiter was gone and we had to share a single steak knife. Such a pain, worst service I have ever had at a steak house. Just go to Sullivan's or Ruth Chris, I hate to say it because they are chains, but you will have a better meal. It's too bad I want to like Abe's."

  • "Service was friendly and attentive. Everything we ate was absolutely delicious, especially the crab cake, bone-in ribeye and crispy smashed Yukon gold potatoes. Downstairs is very noisy, but upstairs is an entirely different atmosphere; quiet and charming when you sit next to the windows."

  • "Bone in filet best I've had, so tender, cooked to perfection! Salads, ice cold & huge, the the whipped cauliflower-devine. We all felt our experience was flawless & our food delish. HOWEVER, we returned the next night, steaks were very good but the sides were not as good as the night before especially the baked potato, over baked or just left over and they over cooked the lobsters twice! Not sweet, chewy ($56) & that was our 2nd round, 1st was inedible, what a shame-at a restaurant of this caliber & in Boston, they couldn't serve a succulent sweet lobster! Although food disappointed, service was the real disappointment lack of attention, poor attitude along with the handling of the lobster issue is enough to rethink visiting again"
