  • "Went 1 month ago and everything was fantastic. This time, not so much. Business dinner - noisy, small table, got the order wrong (twice), was delivered the wrong app, but had already waited too long, so didn't send it back - asked for bone-in ribeye to be cooked medium rare - came out medium to well (not red at all. Had the sense the waiter just wanted us out of there. Next business dinner will be at Ruth's chris or Moo."

  • "When you're in the mood for a large, perfectly prepared high quality steak, Abe and Louie's is the place to go. Excellent Martinis, superb appetizers, outstanding sides ... doesn't miss a beat."

  • "This is my favorite place for brunch in the city. It's delicious."

  • "We thought overall the food was fair to good, but over priced for what was included. All sides were extra. The steaks could have been jucier. They were dry. The staff's service was excellent."

  • "This is an expensive dining experience, so my expectations were high. We had a reservation and arrived early, and were seated right away. Had to wait for water, had to ask for bread. When asked if items were gluten free, waiter said he'd check, but never got back to us. The sides were smaller portions than we expected; broccoli was steamed, but not done. All of the beef items were cooked to order and flavorful. Just OK, for $60 pp, no drinks, salads or appetizers."

  • "Birthday Celebration dinner. Chose because of rating's in Zagat & Best of Boston. Reservation for 7pm. Seated quickly then waited quite a while for waiter to greet us and take our drink order. Waited 10 minutesfor him to come back and take our meal order. When he finally arrived to take our order he told us they were experiencing a computer problem. My son thought his steak was tough but ate it considering how expensive it was. Over all the meal's were just ok and twice what we are used to paying. This was suppose to be an upscale restaraunt and there were people in there eating in jeans and grubby tshirts. Not what I expected. If your advertising yourself as upscale dining then you should have a dress code. '"

  • "We had a work dinner at Abe and Louie's. The food was outstanding and the service was great! Everyone had a great time. I would definitely come back again."

  • "We had a 1:30 reservation on Sunday afternoon, covered under the brunch menu which provided limited options for the meals that normally receive very good reviews. The food was very good, but maybe not as good as the pricing should support. One of our party apparently received an older menu with lower prices and different steaks. We ordered the famed bone-in filet and were told this version was no longer available. Our server was a bit stuffy and not overly attentive. We didn't really feel welcomed and probably will not make the effort to return. We had guests from out of state and made the trip to this restaurant for a special experience and were disappointed."

  • "It was a beautiful day in Boston, and the restaurant was very busy. Some of my guests were running late, and the host was very accomodating in waiting for my entire party to arrive. When everyone finally did get there, the host was able to seat us within a few minutes (overall, it was great service, because we were over half an hour beyond our reservation time). We sat at a table vs a booth. The appetizers were very good, the steaks were cooked correctly to order, and the sides were very good. It was a too loud to have decent conversation, without shouting, and we were bumped around by people walking by our table. The waiter was a bit of a used car salesman too. Overall a decent meal and a good place."

  • "Upon arriving we got seated right away with our reservations made thru opentable. They called to say the table was ready, only thing that was missing was I asked for a special dessert because it was my husbands 60th and that was omitted. They either didn't get the note or the server wasn't told. :( that was a bit disappointing. But. The. Food was awesome! And the service was great too!!!"

  • "Awesome prime rib. Nicest I have had, so tender. Great place"

  • "We were not seated until 45 minutes after our reservation time. The hostesses kept saying we'd be seated in the next 5 minutes, and continued this until 45 minutes had passed. They did provide us with 2 free appetizers upon being seated considering we were starving, but the wait was unacceptable and ruined our dining experience here."

  • "We won tickets to Cher and $200 and Abe and Louie's was our clear choice for dinner before the show. We split a filet and a lobster cassorole which were excellent. The skillet cookie was melt in your mouth perfection. But the crab cocktail we started with was to die for!! This is a classic wood paneled beautiful steakhouse with great service."

  • "I come to Abe and Louie's once a month. Never let's me down. From the moment you walk in you are taken care of. Bar area is great for a drink if your table isn't ready- or you can even eat right there. Once your seated, the service is great. Waiter is very helpful with recommendations of the me u and wine list. Food comes quickly and well paced. Everything is cooked as you ask. On my last visit- bill Belecheck was dining there. You know it must be good."

  • "I have dined at Abe and Louie's before and was very satisfied. This occasion was a turn-off. Way below expectations. Service was excellent, wine was good. The food, however, was not worth paying such a hefty price for. Far from it. Meat was overcooked and the quality of the meat was sub-standard. Due to my former experience with this restaurant and the price tag, this visit was a disappointment. I am not likely to go there again, as there are many excellent restaurants in this area of Boston."

  • "The steaks were out of this world. Service was great. The only downside is that even with a reservation we still waited a half hour for a table. The host staff was very engaging and apologetic."

  • "The good: Kenny, our waiter was outstanding. My bone-in filet was cooked perfect. Great wine list and martinis. Good dessert. The OK: The asparagus was over-cooked on the grill. The noise level from the bar was a bit much. Overall, I'd give it an 8/10."

  • "Ate here based on the recommendations of friends. It was pricey but worth it. Tuna tartare appetizer was amazing and all food portions were huge. Seating by the street-side windows was really nice. There were some issues getting one of our specialty martini drinks prepared promptly (apparently it was a new offering and they couldn't find all of the ingredients) and the server forgot one of our vegetable side dish orders, but overall it was still a very nice dining experience."

  • "When we arrived at the restaurant, we were greeted by friendly and professional staff. The atmosphere was upscale without being stuffy. Our server was knowledgable about all areas of the menu and wine list. There was something for everyone. The portions were very large for a restaurant like this. All sides are extra and enough for 2. My companion ordered filet minion and reported it was perfectly done and very good. I ordered the ahi tuna steak. It was done just the way I ordered it and delicious. It was a very large portion and I did take some to go. The price tag was quite high but well worth every penny. I would highly recommend Abe and Louis's when visiting Boston or for a special occasion."

  • "The food was delicious and excellently prepared. The steaks were served exactly as requested, which is somewhat unusual, especially at lunch time. Desert was unexpected and possibly the tastiest crème brulee I've ever eaten. Service was very good and we'll definitely return."

  • "Had a amazing dinner, did not know that when we showed up that hats were not allowed. I was not wearing a ball cap but a more stylish hat but was asked to take it off. That truly was the only downfall of this great place!"
    Dined on 3/13/2014
  • "Definitely, glad I went. Great drinks, the food and service was fabulous. The only draw back is the noise. If you really wanted to talk or have a romantic dinner the noise level is a bit prohibitive. Otherwise, an all around great experience."

  • "We went for restaurant week, and all the diners at the table ordered the same entree. Unfortunately, we all noticed that the spinach that accompanied the entree was quite gritty and sandy, like they didn't bother washing the spinach."

  • "I expected the typical over-the-top prices for a downtown steakhouse. I even went for the Wagyu beef, figuring I don't have this opportunity often. For a 60$ steak, I was somewhat unimpressed. It was tougher than expected, but did have a wonderful flavor profile. Not a complaint as much as an observation relating to price. We had 7:45 reservations and they were already out of prime rib which either speaks to its popularity or shows lack of preparation on the part of the restaurant. The waiter made very few mistakes both of which were corrected within a few minutes (forgotten items). The sides were both incredible tasting and large in size. Overall I'd chalk this place up as a "standard" steakhouse with above average quality."

  • "I love Abe & Louie's it's our go to for special occasions :) just watch out, they undercook steak a bit. Every time I order medium, it's a dark red center, which id say is more rare. Other than that, this place is perfect!"

  • "We have been to this restaurant many times which speaks for itself. The food is superb and the service is excellent. Do yourself a favor and try this restaurant if you have tried it go back again and enjoy it some more!"

  • "The food here was amazing! The porterhouse for two was perfect. The service was top quality as the waiter was a true professional. The atmosphere was comfortable with the deep wood paneling of a true steakhouse. Highly recommended!"

  • "Went to Abe and Louie's for the first time with a bunch of coworkers who have been there before. I liked the layout of the restaurant a lot. But we were not impressed by the food. Given the restaurant week discount price, the steak and fish were good but none of us would come back for a full price menu based on this meal. In comparison, I was personally more impressed by Capital Grille where I went for the same restaurant week experience."

  • "Abe & Louie's is a mainstay for steak and wine. Never had a bad piece of meat. The Wagu is wonderful as well. Wines by the glass are extensive and great choices."
