  • "It was a beautiful day in Boston, and the restaurant was very busy. Some of my guests were running late, and the host was very accomodating in waiting for my entire party to arrive. When everyone finally did get there, the host was able to seat us within a few minutes (overall, it was great service, because we were over half an hour beyond our reservation time). We sat at a table vs a booth. The appetizers were very good, the steaks were cooked correctly to order, and the sides were very good. It was a too loud to have decent conversation, without shouting, and we were bumped around by people walking by our table. The waiter was a bit of a used car salesman too. Overall a decent meal and a good place."

They called to say the table was ready, only thing that was missing was I asked for a special dessert because it was my husbands 60th and that was omitted. They either didn't get the note or the server wasn't told. :( that was a bit disappointing. But. The. Food was awesome! And the service was great too!!!"

  • "We were not seated until 45 minutes after our reservation time. The hostesses kept saying we'd be seated in the next 5 minutes, and continued this until 45 minutes had passed. They did provide us with 2 free appetizers upon being seated considering we were starving, but the wait was unacceptable and ruined our dining experience here."

The skillet cookie was melt in your mouth perfection. But the crab cocktail we started with was to die for!! This is a classic wood paneled beautiful steakhouse with great service."

  • "I come to Abe and Louie's once a month. Never let's me down. From the moment you walk in you are taken care of. Bar area is great for a drink if your table isn't ready- or you can even eat right there. Once your seated, the service is great. Waiter is very helpful with recommendations of the me u and wine list. Food comes quickly and well paced. Everything is cooked as you ask. On my last visit- bill Belecheck was dining there. You know it must be good."

  • "I have dined at Abe and Louie's before and was very satisfied. This occasion was a turn-off. Way below expectations. Service was excellent, wine was good. The food, however, was not worth paying such a hefty price for. Far from it. Meat was overcooked and the quality of the meat was sub-standard. Due to my former experience with this restaurant and the price tag, this visit was a disappointment. I am not likely to go there again, as there are many excellent restaurants in this area of Boston."

  • "Ate here based on the recommendations of friends. It was pricey but worth it. Tuna tartare appetizer was amazing and all food portions were huge. Seating by the street-side windows was really nice. There were some issues getting one of our specialty martini drinks prepared promptly (apparently it was a new offering and they couldn't find all of the ingredients) and the server forgot one of our vegetable side dish orders, but overall it was still a very nice dining experience."

  • "When we arrived at the restaurant, we were greeted by friendly and professional staff. The atmosphere was upscale without being stuffy. Our server was knowledgable about all areas of the menu and wine list. There was something for everyone. The portions were very large for a restaurant like this. All sides are extra and enough for 2. My companion ordered filet minion and reported it was perfectly done and very good. I ordered the ahi tuna steak. It was done just the way I ordered it and delicious. It was a very large portion and I did take some to go. The price tag was quite high but well worth every penny. I would highly recommend Abe and Louis's when visiting Boston or for a special occasion."

  • "I expected the typical over-the-top prices for a downtown steakhouse. I even went for the Wagyu beef, figuring I don't have this opportunity often. For a 60$ steak, I was somewhat unimpressed. It was tougher than expected, but did have a wonderful flavor profile. Not a complaint as much as an observation relating to price. We had 7:45 reservations and they were already out of prime rib which either speaks to its popularity or shows lack of preparation on the part of the restaurant. The waiter made very few mistakes both of which were corrected within a few minutes (forgotten items). The sides were both incredible tasting and large in size. Overall I'd chalk this place up as a "standard" steakhouse with above average quality."

Given the restaurant week discount price, the steak and fish were good but none of us would come back for a full price menu based on this meal. In comparison, I was personally more impressed by Capital Grille where I went for the same restaurant week experience."

  • "My two friends and I went shopping in Boston and decided to go to Abe and Louis for lunch.Instead of ordering from the regular menu as we planned to do, we ordered from the special menu for Restaurant Week and we were sorry that we did. The service wasn't rushed but the desert order was taken with the rest of the order and the server rushed to remove items that we were still eating,like the bread and my iced tea. also the selection was limited and there was no substitutions. We shall go back and we enjoyed ourselves. I liked the convenience of making the reservation on Open Table."

  • "The fixed price lunch menu had several options but we both chose the same prime sirloin with spinach and whipped potato. The meat was cooked precisely to order (medium - plus with some pink and medium- well with no pink). It was sliced like a London broil and seemed a bit chewy for a prime cut. The veggies were outstanding and very tasty, but the meat could have had more flavor and seasoning. The roasted beet salad was excellent and of good size. Chocolate creme brûlée dessert was delicious and ample. Our waitress was friendly and attentive without being over-bearing. Most of the wait-staff appeared to be male."

  • "I had the halibut which was exceptional. I was leary about ordering it since this was a steakhouse. Two out of our party of 4 ordered steak and were very disappointed. It was overcooked and dry. No flavor at all. They ordered a side of spinach which tasted nasty as if it wasn't washed correctly. Not at all what we expected from Abe and Louie's. The third person in our party ordered chicken which she enjoyed. So I guess it was just a matter of what you ordered on this, shall we say, off night."

Starters, salad and tuna tartar were ok, salad nice, tuna bland. The Steaks were not grilled to our specification, all were overcooked. And became dry and unpleasant. The tab of 400 excluding tips was not justified"

  • "For the price I was completely underwhelmed. I felt like it was a trumped up chain restaurant where everyone goes for their birthday. The server was blah, the food presentation was atrocious. The somlier tried to pass off a 2011 bottle of wine when we had ordered a 2008. When my husband questioned him why he didn't inform him about the vintage change his answer made no sense. Overall I'm sure at one point the restaurant was great, but it looks like those days are long gone."

  • "I made a reservation and went right in to be sat when we got there. We never waited a minute for anything but the staff wasn't in your face the whole time either!!! Waiter we had was excellent, got our drinks the way we like them and took our order. Water was refilled before it was empty. Service was prompt and polite. Very knowledgeable staff - about food, spirits and desserts which is great - we have had some bad experiences elsewhere! Food was hot and cooked perfectly, seasoned and not overly and the hollandaise sauce is so buttery and creamy best I have ever had! Abe and Louie's is a must try!"
