We got a special Gilt dinner promotion which included an app, porterhouse for two, 2 sides, and a dessert for $95. An absolute steal considering the porterhouse alone is normally $115. Anyway the steak was cooked perfectly rare and it was enormous. Ive been to every top steakhouse in the city and I must say Abe impressed me. Don't miss the lobster corn cakes or the whole roasted cauliflower. Bread pudding was a great sweet treat. They didn't cut any corners. Service was great, people checked on us all night, and the dining room was full and buzzing. Oh and love the popovers!!!!!!! Our server's name was Kira, and paired the perfect wines with the dishes we ordered. We had an oys ter special, octopus and tuna tartare to start. The octopus was the most tender octopus i've ever had. The tuna was incredibly light and fresh. The oyster were our fav. They were a special the chef did with cajun butter and were the best cooked oysters ive ever had. The entrees were the cod, scallop, and N.Y. Strip. The scallops were a small portion but really rich with the foie gras and was our favorite dish of the whole night. The truffle fries were amazing but had no room. We had moscato to finish. Perfect.6/4/2013 12:00:00 AMSurprisingly good food!Visiting w/ work colleagues and wanted a steak somewhere close to the Standard Bier Garden for after dinner. Abe and Arthur's came up as a suggestion. Pleasantly surprised by the 10 oz fillet (done perfectly) and the pamaesan frites and asparagus were great sides. We tried 'Beth's meatballs' and the littleneck clams for appetizers. Both were good, but not outstanding. Minor disappointment in that they were out of the 6 point, IPA beer. So, we settled for a few rounds of Tiger ale which was nice to see offered. Waiter a little edgy, but was pretty responsive and came by a few times to check on us. I would come back for the food and the ambiance. She paced the meal very well, gave great recommendations, and corrected problems we encountered. The food was good. It may have been the largest steak I've ever had. Asked for upstairs table and were accommodated with no problem. Food choices were a bit limited but we all found options. Non steak entrees were a bit small as were appetizers. All were delicious though. Service was great. Really noisy though. Walked the Highline, had a drink, then went to Abe & Arthur's. Had a great T-Bone, perfectly charred with kosher salt on outside, medium on inside. can't say enough about the service & side items as well. DJ was playing music downstairs, food, vibe, service all great.
