Diner Reviews
  • "Fun and different. Unique food options. Little loud but able to have private convos"

  • "The squash blossom pizza with stracciatella and chorizo, the brunch special, was superb."

  • "This place is getting harder to get reservations, and a few of my friends have raved about it, so I had high expectations. Overall, the food was good but nothing outstanding (so I don't quite get the hype). Price is reasonable, and the ambiance/decor is nice. I am sure ingredients are fresh and local, but maybe I was spoiled by the fresh vegetables I tasted in Provence...that was heavenly."

  • "Great food, great service, great ambiance. ABC never disappoints. I always recommend this restaurant to my foodie friends."

  • "Good food: loved the decor. The staff were wonderful. We were pleasantly surprised when we walked inside."

  • "Recommended to us by friends and family. It lived up to all of the hype. We arrived 45 minutes early for our reservation but were seated promptly. A wonderful lunch."

  • "Abc kitchen was hard to get a reservation for... And I can see why. The food was exceptional, fresh, flavorful, not overdone. The only downside- and it wasn't enough to ruin the night at all- was the less than attentive staff. The waiter at the bar was great and I thought 'wow, this is going to be something!' But then the waitstaff who took care of us during our meal... They just seemed bored. I don't expect them to juggle or anything but at least look like you give a darn...."

  • "The most beautiful place , yet you can wear jeans. I wouldn't recommend wearing shorts though. Food amazing. Service very good. The only thing is they never offered to get me another I've tea when mine was finished, but that's not really a big deal. I love this place. I will go back! Oh yeah and it's not a tourist trap!"

  • "ABC Kitchen has amazingly good food. Yes, we know, Dan Kluger continues to make brilliant food, that isn't a surprise. ABC Kitchen also tends to have an upscale clientele. Which sometimes leads to an atmosphere of haute couture, a certain feeling of rarefied air, a whiff of unreachable heights. It would be very easy for a restaurant to let it's self and it's staff devolve into the sort of narcissistic circle-jerking that so many higher end restaurants fell into during the 90's. But the friendliness and attentiveness of the staff has always been a wonderful salve to the hustle of the city - and it's actually gotten BETTER. The last two times I've eaten here, the staff is NICER. Which only makes me want to come here more. Bravo ABC Kitchen."

  • "Always a pleasure to dine at ABC. As we travel to NYC, this is our favorite for lunch with friends. The friendly and professional staff takes care of all needs without a request. The food remains a delightful treat. Time melts away providing a memorable experience on each visit."

  • "this resto was highly suggested by our hotel concierge and I am SO thankful for it. the food was amazing and the venue itself was fantastic. i guess i shouldn't be surprised since it is ABC home."

  • "Excellent food with a great selection. Everything is fresh and flavorful. The ambiance and the decor are lovely. Great shopping in the ABC store attached to the restaurant."

  • "Went for lunch. One had the fixed price; the other (me!) a la carte. All food of the highest standard. Service also excellent. From the outside, this place really looks non descript. But inside . Wow! My only complaint would be about the coffee. Way too hot and not a very good double espresso. Other than that, great experience."

  • "This is pricey but divine! Love the food! The one and only drawback, it is very very very very loud!"

  • "The food was good, but a bit pricey for lunch. The ambience is great, however the service was very slow for lunch."

  • "I live in Chicago and enjoy the new and trendy spots, but often get away with not completely breaking the bank (especially if I cut out alcohol). In New York, where I spent a lot of time growing up and shortly after college, I always find myself paying an arm and a leg for great meals. ABC Kitchen was adorable and the food was perfect, all at a very reasonable price, especially for NYC."

  • "More a see and be seen scene than food spot. Food good but not great, only memorable thing was my wife's soup served so hot it burned her tongue. Convenient to Union Square and area, and pleasant enough."

  • "The ambience, design and menu+cocktail list are all great - unique, energetic, stylish and modern. Service was fine, although not very personal on this occasion, but has previously been great. My only complaint would be that I went here 2 months ago and the menu seemed the same, some mixing it up would have allowed for a greater choice in dishes. Were enough gluten-free options for my partner."

  • "Three trips here now between ABC Kitchen and ABC Cocina. The food, service, ambiance and value are among the very best in New York City. End of story, this crew has no equal....get in as often as you can."

  • "Light refreshing atmosphere that reflects perfectly the delicious food. Lots of choices. Menu changes often to take advantage of the season. Snap pea salad, crab toast, kale salad, beets, fish with spinach and jalapeño are our favorites so far. Service was outstanding."

  • "On the survey, for noise level, one gets to choose between quiet, moderate and energetic. The fourth option reads: "Do Not Recall." Hardly. I remember it being like dining on the tarmac of Kennedy Airport during rush hour. The room was one big screaming screeching mob from start to finish. I thought it would be different, more civil and sophisticated. I was wrong. I don't mind spending $200 a person at, say, Marea. You feel like an adult there. I hated spending $200 a person at ABC Kitchen. Never again. Oh, the food? I Do Not Recall."

  • "As a relatively new resident of NYC it didn't occur to me that hidden beneath / adjacent to ABC Carpet, one would find a dining gem. An imaginative menu skillfully delivered by attentive (but not overly so) waiters made this a great anniversary lunch experience. Portabello mushroom appetizer was outstanding. Asparagus/bacon pizza unusual, but delicious, and more than enough for my male appetite. Highly recommend ABC kitchen. Now want to try ABC Cucina (adjacent Tapas restaurant)."

  • "I had heard lots about ABC kitchen and was still pleasantly surprised. The decore and ambiance is immpecably beautiful. it is very stylist and glamous, but has a rustic relaxed charm about it as well. The staff were very pleasant and attentative, and the food was just delicious. I had the lunch set menu, and tried the beetroot salad, the pea and mint soup, mackeral and lemon and berry pie - all amazingly fresh and delicious. Would not hesitate recommending this place to anyone for a special lunch. Enjoy!"

  • "After a fantastic first experience at ABC Kitchen, my second endeavor was a little less extraordinary, and it came down to service (which was a highlight the first time!) - which was unfortunate. The food and refreshing house-made sodas were, as usual, a delight, however."

  • "Waitress was very condescending. I felt rushed and waitress took order hastily. It was my husband, myself, and infant in stroller.. I felt like the waitstaff was discriminatory b/c we were accompanied with a small, non-obtrusive stroller.. The table next to us received service by the same server and I noticed she was more personable and hospitable to them. She went over the background of the food, the restaurants favorites and the company's mission statement. When I asked questions about the menu, (this was our first time but to mention we made a RSVP 3 weeks in advance), the waitress did not act like she wanted to downs the time to go over anything.. Her attitude and tone was like 'it is what it says it is'.. Waitress was very unpleasant."

  • "Over the years, I have discovered that I am a huge Jean-Georges fan and ABC Kitchen did not disappoint. It is much noisier and more casual than some of his other restaurants, but the food was stellar, the service and energy in the room were great. The serving staff was very knowledgeable and our waiter was able to help my daughter negotiate the menu for gluten-, soy- and dairy-free items. The three course prix fixe at lunch was a bargain. We started with the pea soup with mint and the yellowtail sashimi - both were superb. The roasted carrot salad was delicious as was the salmon salad. The sorbets were a wonderful end to the meal although the lemon blueberry torte was spectacular."

  • "Overall everything about ABC kitchen was perfect. The food was delicious and it was clear that a lot of talent/care went into the preparation. In addition the servers were all very efficient/friendly. I would perhaps just suggest that this isn't what I would hope for for a "romantic" date location. It very much had the "trendy new york restaurant" vibe which is great if you're having a fun night, but the intimacy keeps something lacking."

  • "Was able to book a reservation here last minute for my birthday, normally almost impossible, what a stroke of luck! Had a great meal as usual, the ambiance is the best, and my girlfriend loved all the food, even seafood she doesn't normally eat. Highly recommended."

  • "I returned to ABC Kitchen for a second meal after being disappointed with poor service, deafening noise levels, and mediocre food about 2 years ago. I am so glad I did. Excellent and efficient service. The food was the best I ate over my 4 day stay...the tomato toast and crab toast were exceptional (top notch ingredients) and the green bean salad was fresh and flavorful. When I came before the restaurant was completely full and the noise level was so loud I could not hear my guest sitting across the table from me. This time, the restaurant was not nearly as crowded and noise was not an issue. Based on my 2 experiences, I would recommend to anyone to eat here but to try to come on "off" nights."

  • "We got there at the exact t time of the reservation and they made us wait over 20 minutes to get a table without even asking us to go to the bar for a Drink. When we verbalized our frustration, they were apologetic and even offered a bottle of wine as compensation. The place is beautiful and the food is great.... Poor beginning but overall a wonderful experience"
