The ABC kitchen was a great restaurant experience at my last New York visit.
ABC kitchen is a restaurant attached to an interior store (ABC Carpet, however you can enter the restaurant also from the street since it has a separate entrance area which is independent from the store). In general you would not expect a restaurant within an interior store to be a hot spot, would you?, but it is a fantastic location and a decent restaurant.
We had a great evening, service was friendly, professional and quick. Food was great. Wine selections offers many wines by the glass.
I can highly recommend this place be it for business or private events.
Make sure you book your table with several days notice, this place is well known and busy

Food is fantastic, along with the scene. The service is very poor. Made a reservation a month in advance for 1pm Saturday. All of our party was here. We weren't sat until 1:50pm. What's the point of a reservation?

Such a downplayed entrance, easy to miss, but inside it's dark, loud, uncomfortable. Third visit and probably last. Food is good, not great. Service this time was truly inept--our dinner, 3 courses, lasted from 6:30 'til after 10. We had to beg for water refills and waiter from another station lectured us--not his beat. Yikes! Waited half hour for the check. Danny Meyer's in the neighborhood with Union Square Cafe and Gramercy--Next time I'll go for a sure thing: great food, great ambiance, and GREAT service.
