Diner Reviews
  • "LOVED.We ordered a little bit of everything. A few items that really stood out: garlic shrimp (it was sooo flavorful, a little smoky, really great!) short rib tacos, mezcal cured salmon. The server recommended the arroz con pollo - it was ok, but not something I think I'd order again (especially since it's one of the most expensive dishes they have.)"

  • "the food and service are wonderful and I love the atmosphere just as I do at ABC Kitchen...the only negative is the size of the tables and putting three at a two-top with a 3rd chair is very uncomfortable. When I bring customers and we need to talk some business, it's hard to have no space. "

  • "Took my husband for dinner here on his birthday. We absolutely love, love this place. The food was amazing..service was on point. Just a great place to go either for brunch or dinner. But make sure you make reservations otherwise you'll be waiting for at least an hour."

  • "We were in NYC for a quick trip through the city then on to other parts of the US. So glad we chose this place for dinner. Awesome scene, friendly service and the food was really good! Thank you. I will recommend this place to friends visiting NY."

  • "ABC Cocina just gets it right. Such an enjoyable interesting and delicious way to spend lunch."

  • "Love that you can get amazing food in a word of mid-town steak houses. Went for Saturday lunch with my friends and we were all raving about the food. The staff was amazing and very helpful. The portions are a bit small so order appetizers and you will be so happy when you leave. Out of this world!!"

  • "Beautiful place. The only thing I didn't like The dishes were broke and cracked. The is very unsanitary. But overall very good!,food. Rey tasty I had the guacamole it was very fresh. Also had chicken tacos. And the Mexican lasagna was a little mushy ...."

  • "Everything we ordered was delicious and exciting. Service was faultless and friendly. Space is worth the trip in itself."

  • "I took my mom and her friend for brunch over the weekend, and it definitely didn't disappoint! The food & drinks were absolutely delicious! We started with the guac, which was somewhat non-traditional, but incredibly good. I was surprised to see the fish tacos topped with a little mint, but it rounded out the spicy aioli really well. The huevos rancheros were delicious, as were the chicken tacos. the drinks were awesome - my mom had a rhubard pineapple sangria, which I thought I would hate (I'm not a fan of rhubard), but I liked it so much I ordered it as my second drink. The only drawback is that it is quite a loud restaurant. Definitely not the place to go for a romantic night out."

  • "Our waitress told us most are happy with 2-3 small plates per person . . . we just kept ordering because it was so good - 5 plates each and a 2 hour lunch later, we were most happy. Food is incredible."

  • "We actually made our reservation for lunch after seeing Jean Georges and his search for the best coffee on the Travel Channel! We thought that if he cared so much about the ingredients it must be wonderful. We enjoyed appetizers and small plates along with grapefruit rhubarb sangria and a margarita. Tres Leches and Flan topped off lunch. Everything exceeded our expectations! The service was outstanding and when I commented on the habanero sauce the waiter brought a cup to take home. Our only disappointment was that they no longer serve the Mexican coffee that drew us there in the first place! At least they were honest when they brought very ordinary cup of coffee at the end of our meal. We would go again despite the 175 dollar lunch bill!"

  • "The Guacamole is fantastic. All of the taco's are great but the Cuban sandwich is to be craved."

  • "My husband and I had brunch on March 30th. We were seated promptly but then the wait ing game occurred. We sat for ten minutes before receiving menus and water. We only received this attention as I had to flag down one of the hostesses. Got menus but then sat another ten minutes before a waiter appeared. Since we we waiting so long, we gave him both our beverage and food orders. I received my beverage but my husband had to ask a number of times for his. Food was delicious but we did not see our waiter again until we had to have the woman who bussed our table to get him to provide"

  • "Loved the atmosphere in this restaurant. Food was very good. Service was very good. What I didn't like was that I felt rushed. The small plates were coming out faster than we could eat them leaving no room on our small table. Some plates were taken away without us having finished. I will try this place again but if the same thing happens that will be my last visit. NYC has too many other fantastic restaurants to enjoy.,"

  • "Not only were we shoved into a tiny corner by the window, but we weren't served on for about 30-40 minutes and the food was okay. We ordered tea after our lunch and all of our 'kettles' were only half full with hot water, which only filled about 1/2 of the mugs."

  • "Can't say enough about this place. The service was wonderful. Everyone was so kind. The food was exceptional. Some of the portions were particularly small, even for tapas, but the food was delicious, completely worth going!"

  • "Greeting and host were excellent. Nice to see an eclectic menu, relatively well executed...there were a couple of misses, but nothing serious. On the other hand, the server seemed disinterested...would have rather been somewhere else. Additionally, pace of items out of the kitchen was much to quick and bus people were overly anxious, clearing plates while members of our party were still eating. I understand the restaurant is energetic, and that's ok. But the pace seriously detracted from the experience."

  • "Truly spectacular small plates restaurant with every dish topping the last. And while had mentioned that it was our wedding anniversary never expected the amount of effort the restaurant went to to acknowledge it including a message in icing on our desert plate. Will certainly be back and recommend to friends."

  • "The food was absolutely delicious. I was nervous to try it and sit so close to abc kitchen-/ because I didn't think I would possibly love it as much! But it was incredible! Kudos to chef Dan!!"

  • "Although I would not recommend the Rosemary infused Champagne cocktail because it was poorly balanced and more like a Limeade, everything else was great. We will be back!"

  • "We were excitedly looking for to our Sunday brunch reservation with my son home from school. We all enjoyed the sauted mushroom tacos & give high marks to the coconut pancakes & the grilled salmon salad which was grilled to perfection. The only area truly lacking & where our entire dining experience suffered was the service. The absolute worst! Our reservation for 3 was booked well in advance on Opentable. We arrived on time, wait patiently & were escorted to a table for 2 with a 3rd chair added. When I requested another table I was initially met indifference. Our waiter was totally lost in space. Our food came piecemeal with each plate arriving at different times. After taking our order, we next saw our waiter when he delivered the check."

  • "I love JG ABC restaurants. I love the ambience and decor and the food is fantastic. The guacamole is incredible. Loved the crispy fish tacos and the embanadas. Can't wait to go back."

  • "i don't usually bother with reviews (especially for places that tons of folks are going to anyway) but our experience at ABC Cocina was so great from start to finish that I wanted to take the time to praise them. We were there with two older people and the staff was incredibly helpful and solicitous - even putting us at a quiet (but excellent) table without being asked. The service was gracious, warm, and efficient. The food was exciting - from the guacamole to the crispy croquettes to the chicken/short rib/grilled fish tacos. The drinks were unique and well balanced. We can't wait to go back."

  • "Stand-out, delicious dishes with well-composed, cohesive, and really satisfying flavors. We loved the fluke crudo, arroz con pollo, and the mushroom tacos. This was my second time getting the chicken with cabbage, and the second time I wished the cabbage were cut more like a chiffonade."

  • "Came on recommendation from a friend. Food, service and atmosphere were all top-notch and pricing very fair for the quality on offer. We were visiting from the UK and would definitely re-visit when we're next in NYC. Only very slight reservation would be that for someone with less than perfect hearing noise levels build quite significantly when the restaurant is full and can make conversation a bit of a challenge."

  • "We had a friend visiting from Amsterdam and we met at Cocina for lunch. The surrounds were in ABC fashion, elegantly funky and charming; we had five different small dishes among us and one was more of a Wow! than the previous - all around deliciousness and our server was perfectly present - present as soon as we needed her, not hovering or intrusive. LOVE, love, love this spot."

  • "Wow- everythng we had was outstanidng. Highlighs include the guacamole, chicken and fish tacos and the pork sandwhich with chimichuri sauce! While a bit crowded including the tight tables, the energy and service was perfect."

  • "Had sunday brunch there. Fantastic tasting guacamole with grapefruit salsa. Would never think of combining the two-but wow! The combination was unbelievable. Would pass on charred octopus appetizer and berkshire pork sandwich next time. Chipotle chicken tacos and grilled fish tacos were delicious. Definitely looking forward to going back and trying more of the menu"

  • "My best friend and I had brunch here. We shared three items off the menu and the most thing of note was the french toast with apple slices. Amazing! The garlic shrimp was our app, which was great as well. The service was great. They have soy and almond milk options for coffee - I love that! The ambiance is awesome - lighting fixtures are super modern. Loved it, all around solid experience. Would definitely recommend!"

  • "Pitcher of blood orange sangria was great. We were a party of 4. We had total 8 tapas dishes. Brussels sprout salad was excellent. Fluke ceviche, salmon tartar was good as well. We ordered fish ,chicken and pork tacos. Tasty and well presented. For desert vanilla fritters and white chocolate rice pudding--yummy. Over all a great experience. Little pricy for the small servings..Well definitely worth trying once."

  • "Simply put, one of the best casual restaurants in NYC. Wear your old jeans, grab some "foodie" friends and discover amazing service, brilliant flavors and eye candy decor. This French Chef "does it again" with ABC Kitchen / ABC Cocina (they are completely separate restaurants sharing the same building) by showing the competition (he has very little in this country) how to serve tacos, eggs, guacamole, sliced meats / cheese and roasted chicken PERFECTLY. Make sure you try both restaurants and reserve your table early as this place is no secret. Everything on the menu is amazing, just throw a dart and try as much as you can..mostly small plates. Must haves if you are from out of town are Chicken and Rice, Octopus, Fluke, Short Rib Tacos."

  • "I had been dying to go to this restaurant for months given all the hype... What a let down. The guacamole and the short rib tacos were hits, the patatas bravas and the tuna...definite misses. Also the scallop entree, please do not charge $22 for two scallops (especially not when they stand about a half inch high) The flavor was also sub-par. Not to mention the service was horrible. When someone asks about wines in the 50-70 dollar range, don't recommend only wines in the $100 range. Before we even finished our meal, after learning that we weren't going to order additional tapas, they started clearing the table. It's a beautiful restaurant, with an incredible menu. But the service ruined my experience, and I won't be going back."
