Diner Reviews
  • "Great food, excellent price point offerings, friendly, time-sensitive service in the restaurant. We checked out the scene in the lounge upstairs, but didn't use it because we had a 15 year old with us."

  • "I had requested we get a window seat with a view in my reservation and they definitely delivered. Due to Boston traffic, we were running a couple minutes behind but I called and they were very polite in letting me know it would be ok. Food was awesome and our server was fun. The upstairs bar setting was relaxing and had a great modern feel with a view looking out onto Tremont street. Overall great experience."

  • "Loved it, food and service was great!!!!! Drinks were awesome. Would definitely recommend it and will go again."

  • "I went there for lunch with some friends - the restaurant was empty (i.e., no need for reservations), but we all enjoyed the quality of food, the timeliness, and the overall price of the meal. We all ordered one of the variety of burgers - and I ordered the onion rings instead of the fries - excellent choice! The seating arrangement was comfortable, but tight - a little too close for a casual lunch, especially when there was plenty of seating available. Otherwise, it was all good and would go there again."

  • "We went as a family on Monday night and had a lovely experience; food, drink, atmosphere, service. Great kids menu and "small" plates."

  • "I saw the chef on CBS This Morning, the restaurant was in Boston we were going to a play so it was a perfect fit."

  • "The burger was cooked perfectly to my request and was quality beef!"

  • "Abby Lane provides well-executed pub fare with friendly service. Although they were disorganized the last time we went there and it took 15 minutes to get a server, they did great after that. Apparently there was confusion among the staff. They are fast and it is a great location for Wang or Wilbur Theatre events. Good value, too."

  • "Abby lane is a great place for brunch. One complaint, I had a soda and just wanted some ice to finish it up. It was hot on saturday and I had stopped along the way to get a drink. Our server said that according to the Board of health, no outside drinks so she refused to give me a glass with ice. Seriously, I used to waitress and some customers brought in food from other places. I could see if I had a bottle of vodka but really a diet pepsi. So the soda I would have bought for 2 bucks would have really made a difference in their profits. SMH"

  • "My second time here and it never disappoints!! Wings nachos bacon lobster mac and cheese and burgers are ridiculous I'm going back in a week"

  • "Can't find anything I didn't love about Abby Lane. Food was amazing. Service was perfect. Menu had more adventurous options (for me), classic stuff (for my wife) and a solid kids menu (for my daughter.) Manager came over to table to check on us--such a little notion that means a lot. It's DIRECTLY across the street from the Wang Center so you really feel like Abby Lane is part of the whole theatre experience. Highly recommended."

  • "We were placed upstairs- and were the only ones there although there were tables downstairs. Bathroom was two floors below so that wasn't ideal. Server was great. Food was decent but nothing special."

  • "This spot was exactly what I was looking for to take my 13 year old daughter and her friend for a bite before the theater. It was trendy and fun without being inappropriate for the girls. Yet, I did not feel like I was in a family-style restaurant at all - very hip and trendy. Food and desserts were great - service awesome."

  • "Abby lane is a great spot, favorite of mine before events in the area. The staff is a little snooty at times and it's a bit pricey for the quality, but it's consistent enough to make going something to look forward to dining"

  • "Food was just reaching the average level. Service was sub-par, our server obviously was more interested in her phone than her job. Just a fail across the board!"

  • "Bien situé, restaurant agréable, bonne carte des vins, cuisine bonne mais pas exceptionnelle. Trop de friture. Nombreux plats épicés. J'y retournerai plutôt pour boire un verre que pour y manger."

  • "We chose this for its proximity to theatres, and it was a very good choice. Great drinks, delicious food, and we sat at the open area streetside. Very friendly staff also. Would recommend highly."

  • "Meat and cheese board was completely disjunct. Shrimp and grits were mediocre and not southern, burger ordered medium was not only well done but charred. Alerted server to sticky blob on menu, she thanked us walked away, closed the menu and put it back with the other menus. Cocktails are creative but not well executed."

  • "The patrons ranged from couples in their 60's to kids with their parents after a matinee but everyone seemed to be enjoying their meals. Not a broad menu but enough diversity to please. Nice selection of wines. Try the doughnuts for dessert!"

  • "I had high expectations for this place as it was probably the best place to grab a bite before our show at the Wilbur. The menu looked promising and the prices were really reasonable. The food was ok...good but not great. Our waiter never asked us if we wanted anything to drink. We had to ask. You would think that's the first thing they'd ask when we got seated. He was a bit off his game....even though we had two hours before the show, we really didn't expect him to take the full two hours to serve us. We had to ask for the check because he let our dessert sit on the line for about 7-8 minutes. He was hanging out at the bar, chatting it up while we were staring at our dishes. We could have had a perfect night if it wasn't for him."

  • "Abby Lane has a terrific location in the theater district - right across from the Wang and next to the Shubert. I ordered the monkfish, which really wasn't very good. My friends had sandwiches, which seemed to be better. Overall I'd rate this as convenient for going to the theater, but not a place to go out of your way for."

  • "I've been 4 times. It's great. But if you're going on a weekday, don't go late cause you feel rushed"

  • "The menu didn't have a lot of options, but it did have a nice variety. From sandwiches to steaks, there should be something to please everyone. I had the New York Strip Steak, and it was cooked perfectly. I'm rather particular about my steak, too. "

  • "a tad overpriced and over hyped...server vanished after taking order, had to physically search restaurant to find her to order additional items and again to find her to get the check...going to show at wang center, she was aware but as it turns out, unaware."

  • "We ordered the lobster mac & cheese and asian shrimp for apps. They were both good, however even the waiter stated "the salad under the shrimp is pretty pointless." For our mains we ordered the cajun steak and rhode island-style fried clam boat. The cajun steak, which was $32 due to the morel mushrooms, was ok. There were two very small crisped mushrooms on top and no cajun flavoring could be tasted at all. When ordering the clam boat, I asked if they were strips or whole and the waiter said "Im pretty sure they are strips." THEY WERE NOT! It had great flavor and was cooked incredibly, but when I took the second to last bite and there was a fully belly in there I nearly threw up. The drinks were decent but also too pricey at $13 a pop. "

  • "Our group goes to Opera and dance performances often. Abbey Lane is a godsend. They have super salads and burgers for quick pre and post theater events. Our group of five all found things they liked a lot and te service was very pleasant. "

  • "Service was very good and food prepared well. We split an asparagus salad and chicken sandwich. Both were very tasty. Would recommend this for a quick bite pre- theatre."

  • "We dine out quite a bit and my husband is tough to please. Our waiter was one of the best we have ever had. The food was also very good (Kobe Sliders are fantastic). We had a wonderful pre-show meal. We called to say we would be late due to traffic and they were very accommodating. I work in the area and we will be back! "

  • "I though the food was flavorless. Compared to Blue Ink, I thought the menu was boring. I had the 1/2 chicken and was moist but just bland. The quinoa and avocado salad was the same. I always enjoy eating at Blue Ink and I used to enjoy his food at Gargoyles. Very surprised and very disappointed."

  • "We ate here after a play so it was late. There was only 2 other tables with guests and a handful of people at the bar. We had the steak and the monkfish. Both were very good. The flavors with the fish were wonderful. The steak was perfect. Our server was very inattentive which basically ruined the experience. It took to take our order and how unhelpful she was with questions on the menu. However, the part that ruins your meal is when you are only half way thru your meal and out of wine with no one in sight to order another so you can enjoy your fish with wine. While the food was worth coming back for the service makes it not worth the trip."

  • "Went for a quick dinner after 4:30 Blue Man Group. Server was very friendly and attentive. Ordered a burger, mushroom polenta and gf bbq chix pizza. Took 40 minutes to get meal from time we were seated. Kitchen VERY slow. Food was okay, not great. Wouldn't go back."

  • "Abby Lane is my favorite restaurant in all of Boston, I have dined there many times and each time, I leave even happier. The nachos are the best I've tasted, along with all their really unique dishes. The desserts are always savory as well. The executive chef of the restaurant was the runner up in Hell's Kitchen so this man can definitely run an amazing restaurant. Overall, if you don't eat here, your missing out. It's that simple."

  • "I found the restaurant very average with nothing special to note. Certainly not bad just kind of run of the mill. I wouldn't avoid it but I won't hurry back."
