Abboccato, meaning “a touch of sweetness,” will feature a menu that reflects the true appetites of Italy. Owned by The Livanos Family, Abboccato will provide a taste and experience similar to that of authentic restaurants in Italy. Anyone looking for that unique Italian flavor will find themselves at home when dining at Abboccato.

The 75-seat restaurant serves true and time-honored Italian recipes elevated through the talent and techniques of executive chef David Arias, and features a multitude of Italian products and ingredients.

Abboccato offers a selection of Chiccetti, small plates for sharing, which encourage a lively dining experience. Plentiful pasta fill out the Primi Piatti options and fresh Artic Char, Lamb Chops, Whole Branzino and even Veal Sweetbreads make up the savory Secondi Piatti list.

In addition to the savory Italian cuisine, Abboccato’s dessert menu allows diners to end their meal as elegantly as they started it.

  • "main course was very bad, salad and desert delicious. Service apologized for food."

  • "staff was very accommodating constantly seeing if everything was ok.no bones in the branzino!"

  • "Abysmal service -- had to ask 8 times for menu and no appetizer for 25 mins so our party ended up leaving. Completely unacceptable"

  • "Food was good for the most part - entrees were delish - I had shrimp, my pal had whole branzino. The bruschetta app was eh - I wouldn't really call it bruschetta, no crunch, bread was odd. It must have taken at least 30+ minutes for the three little bruschetta pieces to come out, and it wasn't even busy. For lunch? Then another 40 minutes for entrees!! You have to speed it up a bit when people have to get back to work."

  • "This was my wife's birthday dinner and it was perfect in every way. Food was outstanding, a little noisy but high energy. Itt was also directly acvross the street from the show we were attending... She said she would go back for the Beet Salad alone!! Thank you!"

  • "Food was not outstanding, and relatively high priced. Expected better."

  • "We had the spaghetti bolognese which was the best i've ever had."

  • "Our waitress was very sweet and accommodating. The prix fixe was a great deal. The ambiance was terrific. I will return the next time I go to a show at City Center!"

  • "It would have earned 3 plus stars IF the food which I ordered was improved in two ways. A somewhat larger portion, and prepared as spaghetti is expected to be prepared. I ordered one of the standard spaghetti with tomato sauce items, and a small green salad. The flat spaghetti was not not properly cooked, it could not be rolled on a fork and spoon as one usually expects,it had to be cut with the edge of the fork because it stuck together at the bottom of the plate/bowl in which it was served. The portion was so small that it also detracted from the meal. The next time I am in New York I may go back ...in the hopes that this experience was not usual But they missed on the basic...food preparation."

  • "Not greated as walked in. Server didn't know where fish was from. When asked if they had Veal Scallopini the server said, "no but we have scallops." What a joke. Would not return. Would not recommend. In NY, this restaurant which pretends to be Italian shouldn't last through the end of the year."

  • "It took MORE THAN AN HOUR from the time of our arrival to get our main course! We arrived into an almost empty at noon on matinee day, ordered and got our appetizers quickly. Then as the restaurant filled and other tables ordered, we continued to wait. And wait. It was after 1 pm before we ....and other tables.....got our main course. With a 2 pm curtain, that created a bit of a time squeeze."

  • "The service and cuisine were fine for a pre-theater meal across the street from City Center. Pre-fixe option was my choice, enjoyed it."
    Dined on 6/20/2014
  • "Everything we ordered was wonderful. We had a walk in Central Park first and then a walk home after."

  • "There are over 7 Italian restaurants on West 55th street, and this is the one to avoid! We tried most of the rest and read the reviews on this one and gave it a shot- I hope the past reviewers try the OTHER restaurants if they thought this was rated 4 stars! First, the bread they served us was Stale and the waitress said sorry, would we like more bread sticks? My wife's Seafood salad was really a Mussel salad with very little other seafood, and her Seafood special was way overcooked and drowned in a brown Mush. Only my Duck main course was something good. Will not be back with so many other/better choices on the same street!"

  • "What a great place to dine with friends pre theater. The grilled octopus Is always special and the wine list is very good and reasonable. I highly Recommend Abbocatto to foodies and oenophiles alike."

  • "Restraurants in that area tend to be pricey, and Abboccato is no exception. Portions could be larger and $4.50 for a cup of coffee is outrageous!"

  • "We enjoy dining here before theatre at City Center. We know we will have a fine meal and great service. And it's so conveniently located directly across the street from The Manhattan Theatre Club. You never have to rush a meal to get to the show. We like it very much."

  • "Very good dining experience at Abbocato; the only soft spots were the veggies which were surprisingly overcooked for an Italian restaurant. Location is adjacent to City Center and a short walk to Carnegie Hall and Radio City. Service was fine; prices average for NYC. We'd go back."

  • "We came from Canada and stubledr across this gem. Great service and amazing fresh food."

  • "great food, good, friendly service; timely and supportive wait staff."
    Dined on 6/6/2014
  • "They have a way with pasta that makes the simpler dishes, such as bolognese or fungi, into absolutely delicious entrees. Served in oversized dishware, what appears to be a a modest serving, suffices perfectly. And don't miss nonna's meatballs as an appetizer!"
    Dined on 6/5/2014
  • "We have been here before and returned for a pre-theater dinner. They have a wonderful prix-fixe, with large portion sizes which is something you don't usually see. The wine list was quite extensive and our waitress was lovely. We will return."

  • "I had been here before but this time we sampled so much more. The three dips were phenomenal! Lamb chops were superb and the mushroom pasta was fresh and tasty. it was delicious!"

  • "I booked lunch for 12:45. When we arrived, the restaurant was almost empty (adn remained so), yet we were seated at the back opposite the kitchen and toilets. Service was extremely slow and offhand. I ordered the prix fixe lunch, which included dessert. We ordered green tea separately, which arrived (extremely HOT), and I waited and waited and waited for someone to finally serve the dessert, then had to wait and wait and wait in a empty restaurant for someone to bring the check, so we could escape."

  • "If you can't say something nice….. Well, there are just too many good restaurants in town to go out your way to dine here. Thick crusted calamari, ok Tomatoes & mozzarella. Salt drenched chicken dish. Tasty, but overcooked skate. Inedible $22 bowl of pasta w/bits o'seafood just swimming in oil or butter. Left it almost uneaten and not a word from the waitstaff. Guess it's not unusual. Seemed to be several office groups dining here. Well, if Abboccato is really nearby….."

  • "A great spot for pre-theatre. Well located, good food and good service. They are very flexible about sharing etc. Quality was very good - not really gourmet but very well prepared. Busy but not hectic."

  • "The veal chop with veggies was wonderful. So was the appetizer of grilled octopus. Pricey and worth it!"

  • "We have enjoyed this restaurant pre-theater especially before City Center. The food is uneven and this time my husband's Osso Buco was very fatty. My fish was very good."

  • "Food was surprisingly good. Interesting cocktail. Ok service. Overall good value for the location."
    Dined on 5/6/2014
  • "Despite an advance reservation and nearly empty restaurant, the maitre'd tried to seat us at an undesirable table; the waitress forgot our drink order, then thought we were getting a second main course instead of dessert; soft shell crab was deep-fried vs. sautéed, leaving it greasy. Food was okay, but pricey for its quality. Too many better restaurants in the neighborhood to return here."

  • "We visit NYC every few months and have a few favorites we always frequent. This weekend we decided to be adventurous & try a new place. We always use Open Table. We found Abboccato. From the Fuji Apple salad to the Grilled Branzino - our taste buds were in heaven. The service - although the small restaurant was crowded we felt like we were the only ones dining there. The staff - was attentive and pleasant. We WIL go back. "

  • "Everyone thought the food was outstanding and prices were moderate compared to average in new York City. The ambience was good but the table next to ours was noisy but the4y responded to our glares and became quieter."
    Dined on 5/3/2014
  • "Quiet, nobody in dining room when we arrived, only a group of young people at the bar. Like space between tables and booths, one of which we sat in. Beet salad, which was fine; squid ink pasta with cuttlefish and tomato sauce, which was good, but too much tomato sauce and a touch too much cayenne; grilled branzino (quite good), which they brought out to show us after it was grilled, took back in to filet it, and didn't bring it back until we started pestering the waiters for it as it took a long time, and the server said that they had to heat it up again, which was ridiculous as had they filleted on time they wouldn't have had to. "

  • "Upon arriving at Abbocato, they asked if we had a show to make. They quickley seated us suggested what we should order for since we didnt have much time. Everything they recommeded was delicious the service was outstanding and we even had time for a compimentary after dinner drink. This was my 3rd time here and I will definetly be back!!"
