A word from Abboccato
Abboccato, meaning “a touch of sweetness,” will feature a menu that reflects the true appetites of Italy. Owned by The Livanos Family, Abboccato will provide a taste and experience similar to that of authentic restaurants in Italy. Anyone looking for that unique Italian flavor will find themselves at home when dining at Abboccato.

The 75-seat restaurant serves true and time-honored Italian recipes elevated through the talent and techniques of executive chef David Arias, and features a multitude of Italian products and ingredients.

Abboccato offers a selection of Chiccetti, small plates for sharing, which encourage a lively dining experience. Plentiful pasta fill out the Primi Piatti options and fresh Artic Char, Lamb Chops, Whole Branzino and even Veal Sweetbreads make up the savory Secondi Piatti list.

In addition to the savory Italian cuisine, Abboccato’s dessert menu allows diners to end their meal as elegantly as they started it.

The waiter arranged for water right away -- then disappeared for about ten minutes, apologized, then took our order. The appetizer and wine appeared in a few minutes -- then we waited forty-five minutes for two signature sandwiches. The restaurant was about half full. The prices are high, but that was expected (across from City Centre). Service? Yikes.

We had heard mixed reviews of Abboccato so had not tried them. Then, because the theater performance let out at 4:20 and this was the only place on the street that opens for dinner at 4:00, we decided to take a chance. Generally, the dining experience was positive. We were seated in a corner booth and this helped to insulate us from the sound level when the place started to fill up. The waitstaff was pleasant, but did not seem seasoned. Our waitperson spoke in a whisper and had to be asked to speak up twice. The food was uneven for the price; we ordered the prix fixe dinner. The bruscetta appetizer was exceptional as was the strudel dessert, but the tagliatelli, the main course, was ordinary. A specialty drink ordered did was not topped off with Prosecco as described. If you are seeing a show at City Center and want a place right nearby, Abboccato is not a bad choice. Next time, we will order from the regular menu and see how it goes.

We arrived mid-week for a late lunch. The service was leisurely; the lunch folks departed, and we had a quiet time enjoying excellent appetizers and a good glass of Gavi de Gavi. First visit. Not a roomy place, and I'll be it's noisy when filled. So off-hours for me.

I brought a team participating in the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer. The Hilton was the host hotel for the event. Abboccato is in the perfect location. Also great when going to City Center across the street. Everyone in our party of 6 enjoyed their food and the service was well timed. It had been a while since I'd eaten here but this evening did not disappoint!

I have walked by this cute restaurants many times, and looked forward to trying it. The cheese and meat appetizer were nice. The main course was not as tasty as I'd hoped. The wait staff was helpful and friendly. I just didn't enjoy it as much as I had thought I would. The decor is a little utilitarian-looking, or business-like.

Conveniently near the theater district, we enjoyed an exceptional prix fixe lunch comprised of a starter, entree and dessert. There were several choices available for each course. We were expecting good based on previous ratings, but this was truly great for the price. I had the calamari salad, perfectly prepared with a lemon aioli dressing, julienned red cabbage and plenty of delicately crisp, lightly polenta coated calamari. My wife had the caprese salad with heirloom tomatoes, tender mozzarella and an intense aged balsamic vinaigrette dressing as a starter. We both selected the house made tagliatelle pasta with bolognese meat sauce and parmesan, which was extraordinary due to its delicate tomato blush sauce. We will return.

We returned here after 2 or 3 years, and found it to still be outstanding. Interesting menu, great service and a nice Prie Fixe option before the theater. Home-made pasta is always wonderful. Portions are reasonable and prices also reasonable for Manhattan. The only thing less than exceptional were the bread choices, but this is a minor point at an otherwise great spot. We were again surprised that the place was not more crowded.

This is my third time at this restaurant and i have to say it was a bit disappointing for my dinner chopice. I had the Duck and I found it to be very tough and quite plain. I think that the chef did not do a good job and I dont think that should be on the menu. There are plenty of other good dishes to choose from. The menu that we read online was not the same as the menu when I went for dinner another big disappointment. So in closing I dont think I will be going back. There own price fix menu choices were not nearly as good as the last time I had gone.

I loved the ambience here. We ordered cocktails while we waited for another person to show up for dinner, they were tasty, and surprisingly strong. They restaurant was out of the wine we wanted, but gave us samples of several other wines in the price range to help us choose another. Our server was very friendly and attentive, and all of our food was fantastic. The meatballs were so good that we had to get a second order.
