A word from Abboccato
Abboccato, meaning “a touch of sweetness,” will feature a menu that reflects the true appetites of Italy. Owned by The Livanos Family, Abboccato will provide a taste and experience similar to that of authentic restaurants in Italy. Anyone looking for that unique Italian flavor will find themselves at home when dining at Abboccato.

The 75-seat restaurant serves true and time-honored Italian recipes elevated through the talent and techniques of executive chef David Arias, and features a multitude of Italian products and ingredients.

Abboccato offers a selection of Chiccetti, small plates for sharing, which encourage a lively dining experience. Plentiful pasta fill out the Primi Piatti options and fresh Artic Char, Lamb Chops, Whole Branzino and even Veal Sweetbreads make up the savory Secondi Piatti list.

In addition to the savory Italian cuisine, Abboccato’s dessert menu allows diners to end their meal as elegantly as they started it.

Diner Reviews
  • "Arrived at 5:45P. Entree served at 6:45. Gave our credit cards at 7:00. Received receipts to sign at 7:15. Had indicated on arrival we had a 7:30P curtain. The food was good but impression diminished by the confusion & long waits"

  • "I loved the ambience here. We ordered cocktails while we waited for another person to show up for dinner, they were tasty, and surprisingly strong. They restaurant was out of the wine we wanted, but gave us samples of several other wines in the price range to help us choose another. Our server was very friendly and attentive, and all of our food was fantastic. The meatballs were so good that we had to get a second order."

  • "We ate at Abbocatto because of its proximity to City Center. However, the food was mediocre, and we won't return."

  • "Only objection was the bill listed suggested tips of 18,20,22% but the calculation was based on the amount after tax. Since when are you supposed to pay a tip based on the city & state taxes? The incident makes one question the owner's integrity."

  • "The food was superb. I was very impressed with the menu options, but I was also thankful that it was restaurant week :)"

  • "Terrific neighborhood restaurant. Great for pre-New York City Center dining!"

  • "We went for a pertheater dinner. We love both Molyvos and The Modern Barn...under the same ownership which is why we gave Abboccato a try. Nice bread basket, kudos to the salted breadsticks. It was restaurant week so my husband tried the 39.00 dinner. It was nothing special. I had the octopus which was again, not memorable and a simple green salad. I asked the waiter to add tomato to the salad. He told me that there would be an extra charge. And there was..$13.00 for a salad with tomato..come on..a bit excessive. With all the Italian choices in NYC, I'd pass on this one."

  • "Met with a friend to have lunch during the work day. Service was quick, food was excellent. As soon as we entered, we were seated right away. Noise level was low so it was easy to hold a conversation."

  • "We had the chef's choice which was a six course meal. Nice sized portions and great taste."

  • "The food was excellent. We had a bad experience two years ago but this time were very pleasantly surprised. The servers were good. When we told them we had a curtain to make the food arrived promptly. The dining room was quiet and very pleasant. We plan to return."

  • "Overall, it was a really nice spot for dinner. My friend and I showed up early for 3-5pm happy hour at the bar. The bartender was very friendly and made really cool cocktails, like mine had a blood orange ice cube in it. I had the sea scallops. They were cooked perfectly."

  • "I've been here for dinner and it is phenomenal. Chef David is very talented and there is an excellent wine list. Lately though I've stopped by during happy hour and have really enjoyed sampling their cocktails. My favorite is the limoncello lemonade but other customers recommended I try the pear drink next time. All around great service, delicious food and fun drinks."

  • "Not only was the food amazing, flavorful and perfect temperature, but the service was outstanding. They were always checking back, but not in an annoying way. They were attentive to our needs and so polite. Perfect experience."

  • "Had lunch here for NYC Rest. Week. I was torn between the Caprese Salad and Trio of Bruschetta for the Antipasti portion of our lunch but our server did a great job selling the Caprese Salad so I had that and it was delicious! It was suppose to come with buffalo mozzarella but came with Burrata instead, which probably made it better. The Kumato tomato that came with it was perfectly sweet and drizzled with balsamic vinegar and basil. I had the Chicken Piccata for my Secondi which was just 'eh' and I was expecting more than the watercress salad but it had capers so I was satisfied. For Dolci, I had the Panna Cotta and it was the best part of the whole meal. Overall, the service was good but I'd probably only come back for Restaurant Week."

  • "Waitress was pleasant, but food delivery wasn't timely!"

  • "Very thin grilled chicken cutlets served over a green salad took 50 minutes to arrive...abolutely absurd. It was during prime-time lunch hours and the dining room was virtually empty. My dining companion and I had indicated that we had limited time to spare, and were assured the food was on its way several times. Apparently, this is not a good spot for a quick business lunch. At least we were able to get in some bread sticks and antipasti during our hour there."

  • "We were a party of 8 and everyone enjoyed their food. For some reason, on the day we were there, the food took a while to arrive. The staff was apologetic and professional."

  • "The food at this venue is AMAZING however the service was incredibly slow. I waited 20 minutes from finishing my appetizer to getting my main dish. The slow service could have been due to the fact I came for restaurant week or the fact it was a sunday. I got the chicken on the restaurant week special and I have to say it was one of the best chicken I have had. The red peppers were cooked perfectly and I had enough sauce that my dish was not dry."

  • "main course was very bad, salad and desert delicious. Service apologized for food."

  • "staff was very accommodating constantly seeing if everything was ok.no bones in the branzino!"

  • "Abysmal service -- had to ask 8 times for menu and no appetizer for 25 mins so our party ended up leaving. Completely unacceptable"
    Dined on 7/23/2014
  • "Food was good for the most part - entrees were delish - I had shrimp, my pal had whole branzino. The bruschetta app was eh - I wouldn't really call it bruschetta, no crunch, bread was odd. It must have taken at least 30+ minutes for the three little bruschetta pieces to come out, and it wasn't even busy. For lunch? Then another 40 minutes for entrees!! You have to speed it up a bit when people have to get back to work."

  • "This was my wife's birthday dinner and it was perfect in every way. Food was outstanding, a little noisy but high energy. Itt was also directly acvross the street from the show we were attending... She said she would go back for the Beet Salad alone!! Thank you!"

  • "Good, reasonably priced place tp eat before a show at theCity Center."

  • "We had the spaghetti bolognese which was the best i've ever had."

  • "Our waitress was very sweet and accommodating. The prix fixe was a great deal. The ambiance was terrific. I will return the next time I go to a show at City Center!"

  • "It would have earned 3 plus stars IF the food which I ordered was improved in two ways. A somewhat larger portion, and prepared as spaghetti is expected to be prepared. I ordered one of the standard spaghetti with tomato sauce items, and a small green salad. The flat spaghetti was not not properly cooked, it could not be rolled on a fork and spoon as one usually expects,it had to be cut with the edge of the fork because it stuck together at the bottom of the plate/bowl in which it was served. The portion was so small that it also detracted from the meal. The next time I am in New York I may go back ...in the hopes that this experience was not usual But they missed on the basic...food preparation."

  • "Not greated as walked in. Server didn't know where fish was from. When asked if they had Veal Scallopini the server said, "no but we have scallops." What a joke. Would not return. Would not recommend. In NY, this restaurant which pretends to be Italian shouldn't last through the end of the year."

  • "It took MORE THAN AN HOUR from the time of our arrival to get our main course! We arrived into an almost empty at noon on matinee day, ordered and got our appetizers quickly. Then as the restaurant filled and other tables ordered, we continued to wait. And wait. It was after 1 pm before we ....and other tables.....got our main course. With a 2 pm curtain, that created a bit of a time squeeze."

  • "The service and cuisine were fine for a pre-theater meal across the street from City Center. Pre-fixe option was my choice, enjoyed it."

  • "Everything we ordered was wonderful. We had a walk in Central Park first and then a walk home after."

  • "There are over 7 Italian restaurants on West 55th street, and this is the one to avoid! We tried most of the rest and read the reviews on this one and gave it a shot- I hope the past reviewers try the OTHER restaurants if they thought this was rated 4 stars! First, the bread they served us was Stale and the waitress said sorry, would we like more bread sticks? My wife's Seafood salad was really a Mussel salad with very little other seafood, and her Seafood special was way overcooked and drowned in a brown Mush. Only my Duck main course was something good. Will not be back with so many other/better choices on the same street!"
    Dined on 6/17/2014
  • "What a great place to dine with friends pre theater. The grilled octopus Is always special and the wine list is very good and reasonable. I highly Recommend Abbocatto to foodies and oenophiles alike."

  • "Restraurants in that area tend to be pricey, and Abboccato is no exception. Portions could be larger and $4.50 for a cup of coffee is outrageous!"

  • "We enjoy dining here before theatre at City Center. We know we will have a fine meal and great service. And it's so conveniently located directly across the street from The Manhattan Theatre Club. You never have to rush a meal to get to the show. We like it very much."
