A word from A Voce Madison
The word is out: Marlon Abela, the restaurateur behind London's Michelin one-star with two-stars rising Greenhouse, has opened a new modern Italian restaurant A Voce ("word of mouth") on the edge of chic Madison Square Park. The emphasis is on grown-up, deeply delicious Italian cookery set against a back drop of Italian style and organic East Coast elements.Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "Our fifth trip to A Voce was as good as our first. This was our first time dining since Chef Lee took the helm and I have to say the kitchen has not lost step. Great food....great service."

  • "Lovely service! More romantic and cozy feel than the Columbus Circle restaurant. Delicious pasta and great desserts!"

  • "Held dinner business meeting ( clients) who all remarked about the exceptional food & service."

  • "We have been dining at A Voce for years now, usually before theater. This is a great place. The food is always wonderful, cocktails and wine are excellent and the staff is very attentive. They have a new chef but the food is still "spot on". Love it."

  • "It's ;location makes a Voce a choice restaurant for midtown dining. Great in the evening when offices nearby are closed and the crowds not too noisy. Great food and friendly service. Comfortable, and nice ambience. A very pleasing choice."

  • "The menu selections were intriguing for an Italian restaurant. No heavy red sauce here, no red sauce at all. The pasta dishes were creative and delicious. I had the chicken which could be boring but here it was tasty and juicy. My daughter had the Bronzino, she said it was the best she has ever had. My appetizer, an egg dish was so good a wanted to order another . The staff is knowledgeable and always on hand. Not hovering just helpful. We had a round table for 4 with comfortable leather chairs. I will definitely go back. Oh, I forgot to mention we sat next to a well known celebrity."

  • "I've been a regular at A Voce for years now. New Executive Chef, Ben Lee has been keeping up the level of finesse and pushed it even further! Crostaceo Crudo bay scallops is full of flavor and citrus notes, scallops just melt in your mouth. Burratina another wonderful dish, delicate and flavorful at the same time. But the best highlight, Pizzoccheri! It's such an usual and regional Italian dish, so simple and unique at the same time. Thank you, Chef Lee! Thank you also to the whole staff. I will be back very soon."

  • "My dining experience was fantastic. The ambience and noise level was perfect, in fact, very romantic. The appetizers were very creative and delicious. The range of entrées included a nice mix of the traditional with some newer concepts. The service was attentive without being overbearing. It was a great experience."

  • "I have been dining here for years…there's a new energy in the kitchen which is visible on the plates and in the tastes. That energy has been transmitted to the service staff, which makes the experience one worthy of mentioning."

  • "Menu limited but selection were good. Steak tartar was delish while the bronzini as average with the desserts just poor. Wine was hyped but it too was average and over priced."

  • "Really enjoyed my lunch. The waiter recommended the wine and it was excellent"

  • "OK but, foodwise, nothing special for a Restaurant Week lunch. The bread served wasn't fresh and the no-choice desert was a melange of ingredients from which only sweetness and no distinctive flavors emerged."

  • "Great food, service and ambience, But the dessert was disapointed."

  • "I have been to this restaurant a number of times and always left having had the most sublime meal! I had skate yesterday and it was the most delicious I have ever eaten! I will dream of this lunch! Mt guests enjoyed it as much as I. It is a wonderful neighborhood gem!"

  • "I had lunch with a friend during restaurant week. The food was great and, to my amazing, makes us quite full. Wine selection is advisable and the overall ambiance and service is good. I may want to return"

  • "This restaurant never fails to be one of the best Restaurant Week lunches offered. They are always excellent whether for lunch or dinner with innovative dishes that and excellent ingredients."

  • "We came here for the first time for a restaurant week lunch recently and had a great time! The food was delicious - for once I couldn't get enough of my salad appetiser (I'm not really a salad person), then our choice of mains (mushroom ragu pasta and rosemary & lemon marinated chicken) was so good that we had to swap halfway through to enjoy each other's selection! Finally (during a Restaurant Week experience) the service was great - friendly, attentive, but not pushy. Also loved the cosy but airy feel of the dining room. We'll definitely be back, for lunch or dinner!"

  • "We thought the food was outstanding and the service excellent, The Tables were a little to close together although the noise level as moderate. A great buy during restaurant week. We will be back"

  • "Absolutely delicious food, good portions and very reasonably priced."

  • "We are a group of friends who have quarterly lunches. We rotate among top restaurants and have included A Voce for the past thee years. It is reliably excellent. Service is impeccable and ambience quiet enough for easy conversation. We'll be back."

  • "The food and service were both excellent. However, I would not put it on the same category as Daniel, Bouley, Marea, etc. I live in the neighborhood so it's a quick walk for me to get high cuisine for those occasions where I want to splurge. I would recommend it."
    Dined on 2/14/2014
  • "Designed to look impressive and to impress the one percent. The cuisine is good, but over-priced. Impressive wines, if price is no object. Perhaps this place is for those on an expense account."

  • "A Voce was a perfect introduction to an high-end restaurant. The feel of it was relaxed as well as professional. It came off of as intimidating in the very beginning but thats because of my inexperience. Everyone was personable and helpful at the same time. The service was never stuffy nor there was a need for me to call someone over because of something that was lacking. The food put the experience way over the top. It was immaculate. My taste buds were taken for an adventure during each course and at the end of the ride they wanted to go again. Thank you A Voce for an experience I will never forget. I will definitely come back for another fantastic meal. Dining done well."

  • "The food was outstanding (I had the octopus and my boyfriend had the rib-eye) and the service impeccable. The interior is a bit 70s modern but who cares. The appetizers were beautiful with only fresh ingredients. Highly recommend."

  • "Outstanding restaurant time after time- absolutely delicious food!"

  • "We brought foodie friends from London to A Voce on Madison Avenue. Our server was not the most sophisticated, seemingly not matching the restaurant's ambitions, but he tried his best. There were two exceptional dishes - the Italian Shabu Shabu take- really exceptional - as was the crudo. Decor was quite tired, and the Steelcase seating now flat after so many seaters. I would say in general that the ambitions were greater than the execution."

  • "We stumbled upon A Voce on a blizzard night when most people cancelled, so we enjoyed a serene ambience for what turned out to be fabulous, delicious food. The room is airy and beautifully lit. The fried ravioli appetizer with speck, stuffed with smoked mozarella and tuscan kale, was succulent and new. I had red snapper - perfectly cooked, crispy skin and tender meat - with sunchokes, brussel sprouts and lamb sausage - so savory! Friend had fettucine with rosemary, stewed rabbit and black trumpet mushrooms, fabulous. The port I had for desert was smooth and delicious, and the dessert of doughnuts delightful. They nailed it!"

  • "When this restaurant opened several years ago, it was always overbooked with long waits despite having reservations. The menu was overpriced and not very appetizing and during one of my early visits it was one of 3 times in my life I had to send back a bottle of wine which was a lukewarm white wine that arrived after we were done eating, I heard good things about the new chef and we tried it in November. We've been back twice since then. The menu is revamped with great reasonably priced selections and the wines are excellent. The service is friendly and attentive and we love it. Try the Gnocco Romano which is a slowly braised octopus in a red sauce. It literally melts in your mouth."

  • "Had a choice of restaurants in the Madison Park area and was well pleased to have chosen A Voce. The service is top class, pleasant without being smarmy. The atmosphere was fantastic, nicely lit by the wall of glass facing the street. Not the greatest scenery but that's not their fault and besides, they are set back far enough from the street that what you experience is good lighting. The food is excellent. I enjoyed the octopus gnocco. I didn't expect it smothered in tomatoes, though, so just one point off for that. But it's the cassonciin with speck that was unbelievable! I could eat this antipasto all day, it's so light and flaky. The filling is well balanced and just enjoyable! This is a can't-miss restaurant, every way you look at it."

  • "We ate here as a small group and wow was this place incredible! We enjoyed house-made pasta, risotto, some type of cheese and bread app, two wines, and much more and everything was absolutely delicious. The service was also notable. I only wish I could remember our server's name - he really added to the dining experience. Dining outdoors was also very nice - the restaurant is roght around the corner from Madison Sq. Park. We've been here a couple of times since and both times the food has been wonderful."

  • "If you want good food, be sure to check this place out. Their homemade pasta, octopus, salads, and apps are incredible. The ambiance is nice - lots of space and very comfortable. They have an impressive wine list. This is the second time I have booked a reservation here through OpenTable and they somehow don't see it on their end. But that's OK, their food more than makes up for the confusion. Must try!"

  • "This was a top notch eating experience. From the warm welcome to the incredible service to the excellent food, this was an overall great dining experience. Very nice menu choices and the food presentation was as expected for a restaurant of this quality."

  • "I always enjoy A Voce. The food is amazing, the service is so genial, and the room absorbs sound so that you never have to speak loud and can hear you dining companions. I had the raw scallops and the agnolotti with lemon ricotta, pesto and shrimp. You couldn't do better."
