A word from A Single Pebble
Located on Bank Street, just a short walk from Church Market Marketplace in Burlington. A Single Pebble is serving classically creative Chinese Cuisine since 1997.

We proudly feature the unique flavors and qualities of each dish. Our culinary influences come from all of the regions of China and it's neighboring areas. Single Pebble is still good, but their service is a bit funny, we found ourselves waiting too long for the menu items to appear and they do not list all of the ingredients for a dish. So when my husband ordered the peppered scallops the sauce was 100% onion. He does not eat onions and was very surprised. They recommended always asking for the full ingredient list. The food was good, but I have never thought it was great there.

We were pleasantly surprized by this outstanding Chinese on quiet Bank St. out of earshot of the Church St. buzz. My wife and I both ordered chicken entres and agreed that the 3 cups chicken was the best. Everything is cooked to order and both meals, including a shared veggie low mein were a perfect blend of spices and preparation. We will definitely return!

Our experience began when we met Jamaica, our Server. She is a professional! She presents, listens and accommodates requests. Further, I was left with the impression that the Single Pebble kitchen and wait staff are very synchronized-dishes flowed at just the right pace. And speaking of dishes-all at our table were impressed with the flavor balance the SB Chef had achieved in every dish.

We look forward to going to this restaurant every summer. It is a real treat! The food is upscale and not your typical Chinese dishes. You won't find wonton soup or beef and broccoli on the menu, but anything we have ever tried as been delicious. Try the chef's choice at lunch where the chef decides what he will serve you. You won't be disappointed.

My husband and I were very happy to have found a Single Peblble. We lived in Southeast Asia for two years and have been disappointed in many Asian restaurants but loved Single Pebble. We had their spicy green beans, Kung Pao beef , and a shrimp dish that was a special that night- all very fresh, well seasoned and delicious. Service was excellent- professional, friendly and prompt. Highly recommeded!

We went to Single Pebble for the first time and our experience far exceeded our expectations. The food was fresh, delicious and well seasoned. Our cold sesame noodles were the best version of this dish that we have eaten in years. The layout is eclectic but does a great job of tampering noise so you can enjoy your conversation. The service was cheerful and efficient.

Been to A Single Pebble many many times, but this visit the restaurant was SO loud it was hard to hear the waitress, and our table for 6 was smushed into a corner and 2 of us were in the flow of traffic. The food was great as always, but the atmosphere could use some attention.

Food was plentiful but bot well prepared. Chicken dish was overloaded with coating and inedicle tangerine peel was cooked right into the chicken pieces. Service was slow and lackadaisical. Do not plan on all entrees arriving near the same time.

This was my first time dining at Single Pebble in Burlington. I remember the restaurant from the Barre-Montpelier Rd. days when it was superb. I was disappointed in the food. I ordered the Hong Kong noodles with duck and yutoy. The duck tasted on the verge of being spoiled. The sauce was pretty tasteless. My friend ordered the Peking duck and remarked that her duck was dry and the skin was not crispy. I also ordered an eggplant dish which had good flavor, but was rather oily. Our waitress was knowledgeable and attentive, the atmosphere was fine, but I would hesitate to recommend your restaurant I am sorry to say. I would be willing to come back and give it another try. Perhaps you have too many items on the menu to do them all well?

Our daughter picked a single pebble for her birthday dinner. It's one of my favorite restaurants in Burlington and I've always had great food and service. However, this time around our service was greatly lacking. Our server unfortunately had zero personality and barely checked in with us all night. We waited almost 15 mins for our order to be taken and with hungry kids and adults waiting, you know how that goes. I've always had great experiences with this restaurant but this time due to poor service it really affected our dinner. With the expectation nowadays for a 20% tip, you'd think servers would go above and beyond to make sure they interact with customers, especially when you know the bill will be substantial. Food was decent though.

This is our second trip to this restaurant. This is the second time we have had terrible service. It is the kitchen, not the waitstaff, except the waitstaff didn't really rush to come back to check on us except to deliver dishes. We had a dish that we ordered in appetizer round, and it showed up as the final dish of the evening. It's too bad, because the food is really good.

We celebrated a friend's birthday at A Single Pebble this week and it was an all around terrific experience. We loved our table in a window nook. Two people in our party have serious allergies - tree nuts and gluten - and our server did a wonderful job of steering them towards menu items that would be "safe." Our server was very knowledgeable about the food preparation and approached our table each and every time with a smile and great advice - all around great service. We finished the meal with candles in a dessert, which was also a sweet touch. Thanks so much for a fun birthday night out!

This isn't your Panda Express, chicken finger and crab rangoon type of Chinese/Asian. It's real and amazing. We rarely order off the menu since the specials are usually too good to pass up. We enjoy the family style eating and always have leftovers. With leftovers though I am certain we only get a portion of our leftovers because it's never as much as what was left on the dishes (they do them in the back so you cant see them fill the containers). Would also love to see Chinese/Asian inspired desserts. I find the dessert menu to be extremly lacking.

This is our favorite spot for dining in Burlington. We had a 6 pm reservation prior to an 8 pm Flynn performance and ordered the Tasting menu for 6 people. The service was prompt, efficient and friendly and we loved all the selections from the chef. There was great variety including two of our favorites, the marinated green beans and a cabbage and cucumber salad. We would not have ordered the mock eel on our own but that also turned out to be one of our favorite dishes. There was a battered shrimp dish that was delicate and cooked perfectly. The dishes came out in perfect timing and in perfect proportions for six people. The final dish was individual portions of tapioca and creme brulee and fresh fruit, a perfect ending to the meal.

My husband and I dined at a single pebble on a Thursday night and it was easy to get a table. On the weekends reservations are a must. Our favorite dishes were the Buddas delight, a vegetarian dish with seitan, and the eggplant starter. The ginger martini was also great. We didn't care for the red oil dumplings. As long time vegetarians it was nice to go into a restaurant where we had lots of choices and where those dishes were given as much thought as the meat based dishes. We definetly will be back.

Been here many times. The food is always exceptional. You can't go wrong with any of their specials, which change very frequently, nor can you really go wrong with anything on the menu. The mock eel is a must even if you don't like mushrooms as is the peking duck. On a budget and looking for a nice dining experience for a date or celebration? This place is perfect. They're always accommodating to special requests to sit in certain areas, when they can, and the service is always very attentive. Reservations are recommended, but the wait to sit at the bar hasn't ever been too long in cases where they've been booked up. Finally got a chance to use up my Open Table points for a $50 gift check and Single Pebble accepted it without issue.

We asked the waiter to bring the small plate of mock eel first and the entrees later. However, everything arrived at once. The Buddah Beef with Seitan was delicious and well made. The Mock Eel was a little too salty and dry. The Lemon Sesame Shrimp which is my favorite was delicious although I remember it coming with a lot more lemony noodles than this time. There were hardly a spoonful for each of us. The shrimp are fresh and good size. The food is good, but remember it as outstanding. My special Birthday place.
