In a world full of too small tables where you sit closer to your neighbor than your date, "A" is a refreshing throwback to a more intimate style of dining.
The wine list was amazing and the food was delicious. Quality rather than quanity but satisfying portions. A great value and a wonderful experience.
We will be back; often.

We were in a tough spot bringing a 16month old...which did not work out so well. 1/2 the party remained to finish dinner, which was outstanding. The staff was extremely understanding and accomodating and sent the rest of the food home with us. The chicken piccata was better than most I've ever had, with a huge portion. I would say it is kid-friendly, as my 8 year old enjoyed it and the A Burger, but not baby friendly, as we got a lot of stares when the baby started to cry. All in all, I definitely look forward to the next occasion when I am able to visit the A.

Outstaninding service and location. A very unique restaurant. Reminded of the type of restauarants you would find in Chicago or New York, only in Newport. You can tell employees are professional and enjoy working together. Also, you could tell it was a very popular place with the locals as they met in the lounge/bar area. I am excited to go back when I return to Newport. Also, easy to get in and out the restaurant area. Try the Beet Salad. Excellent!

We last dined at A almost 4 years ago. Then it was good but nothing to write home about. The menu and the food have improved greatly since then. We had one of the best meals we have had at an Orange County restaurant in many years.

Vibrant bar scene is an understatement. Our table actually was in the back of the bar, tucked inside a deep, dark groove. The bar noise was so loud, none of our party could hear ourselves talk. We were so "tucked away" that our waiter, for the most part, completely forgot about us all evening. If I had wanted to take my family out to a "bar" I certainly would not have booked a table for a birthday celebration one week in advance. Just to add insult to injury, they kindly slapped an 18% service charge on my bill for the worse service I have experienced in months. I would never go there again, regardless of how great the food was.
