I highly recommend this restuarant and will visit again when I am in New York. I passed on the dessert because I had 2 baskets of there homemade bread, next time I will have the chocolate cake it looks sinful!4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic Turkish food on the UESMy husband and I live on the Upper East Side, but had never eaten at A La Turka until one of our daughters mentioned having had a terrific meal there. We were pleasantly surprised at how the restaurant was packed, despite being located on Second Avenue, where so many of it's neighbors had succumbed to the subway construction. The restaurant was packed, but our reservation was honored and we received a table immediately. the food was delicious - my husband enjoyed a large-portioned mixed meat platter and I a very fresh and tender swordfish kebab. the staff was attentive and upbeat.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMLove A La Turka!Food and service were superb. Also very knowledgeable about the wine and gave good, accurate recommendations. Try the Turkish white wine- very smooth.
The warm, fresh bread served with the hummus was delicious, as were the lamb kebabs with yogurt and Turkish pizza.
Overall a great experience, good food, good service and we were not rushed or pressured in any way. Would recommend!3/20/2013 12:00:00 AMGood Turkish FoodGreeted warmly by smiling receptionist. Wait staff friendly, anticipating our needs. Food decor and service all very good. Will return.12/16/2012 12:00:00 AMGreat FindThis was our first time here on a busy Saturday night. The hostess, manager, waitress and busboys were all professional, friendly and on point. The red lentil soup was fantastic. The warm bread they give you with olive oil to dip was a great start. The bartender was very helpful and friendly. The Coban salad was fantastic as was the whole roasted eggplant.................so delicious. We shared the chicken shish kebab dinner which had tender juicy chicken. One caveat BEWARE THE CHILI PEPPER they put on the plate. No warning, but a five alarm fire in heat. Will definitely return. The comped watermelon at the end of the meal, a nice touch.11/17/2012 12:00:00 AM
