A la Maison BistroSuperb duck and the beet saladSuperb duck and the beet salad was scrumptious...Excellent food and gr8 friendly service in a comfortable but lovely bistro in the heart of Ardmore where you can watch the crowds passing by while enjoying the wonderful menu selections.6/11/2013 12:00:00 AMCooked to PerfectionWhen dining out - I like to enjoy food I cannot cook at home. The menu is uncomplicated classical French but cooked to perfection. If we lived closer, A la Maison would be our go-to restaurant.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMLovely eveningHave driven by many times & never noticed the restaurant. Enjoyed it very much. A little pricey.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMA gemWe stumble on this Ardmore gem in an OpenTable search, and it was terrific! The food was great, the jazz combo talented but quiet enough so we could converse, and the service friendly and knowledgeable. Don't forget to bring your own wine!6/5/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat french bistro style foodGood food in a casual, comfortable setting. The best clams!! Enjoyed the Bronzino fish special as well. Always a nice atmosphere and great service....consistently good.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMVery tasty! We really enjoyed the food - my escargots were perfect, the rustic paté was delicious, the soup fragrant and nourishing. Seating was a little bit crowded, but the staff were very helpful and flexible.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat mealEnjoyed this visit to A la Maison. Had Steak Frites and soup du jour. My wife loves her salad du jour and entree. Espresso and desserts were awesome. Love this neighborhood place.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMWe were celebrating a graduationWe were celebrating a graduation and your restaurant was perfect!5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellentI had previously heard exception things about this restaurant and being a BYOB enthusiast had to check it out. Spent the evening with friends. All I can say is that the food was magnificent, staff extremely courteous and attentive and the owner was the best host that anyone could ever ask for. I highly recommend A la Maison and have definitely picked up a favorite place I will continue to frequent in the years to come.5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMConsistently Superb FoodThis BYOB is a gem. The food is outstanding, and the deserts are delectable. The storefront location has parking in the back.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMLove knowing A la Maison isLove knowing A la Maison is once more open for Sunday Brunch. WONDERFUL PASTRIES: FLAKY AND OOOOOOOH SO FRESH. No matter what kind of patisserie one picks...you cannot escape the delicious flavor and freshness. The customers looked most happy eating their entrees from mussels to omelets to sandwiches. Wonderful friendly service that kept the decaf flowing...Thanks.
Love looking at the passing parade on Lancaster Ave...5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellentI'm glad to have finally dined at La Maison. The entire experience was wonderful with excellent service and delicious menu. We had the mussels Maison, steak frites, and beef Bourgogne... All cooked exactly as ordered, the sauces and sides were paired well. Definitely order the bread pudding! We will definitely be back, hopefully next time with a group.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMA la Maison Bistro - Great Food!Great food here and an almost-in-Paris feeling of a bistro. They are not giving away the food but it is absolutely terrific with a varying menu to keep it interesting if you go there a lot. This is a BYO which adds to its charm. Bring along a great champaign or bottle of wine and enjoy a leisurely dinner.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMBYO with great food and atmosphereWe went for my birthday dinner because I love the garlic clams appetizer and salmon dinner. They are both simply outstanding. The clams are sautéed with herb tomatoes that are slow roasted in the oven overnight that have excellent flavor and not a bit dry. The salmon is always cooked perfectly and the lentils and spinach served with it are delicious. A healthy meal with wonderful flavor. The bread pudding for dessert is to die for. The night we went there was also a string band playing which made it an even more special evening. Loved it.5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMFirst time ALM ever disappointed usSomething has happened to this place. Came in for a birthday dinner and it was incredibly underwhelming. The service was much more unenthusiastic and awkward than in the past.
What changed? New manager? (staff was confused and awkward) New chef? (meats were tough and overcooked) New food supplier? (the boeuf bourgogne, in particular, was basically inedible gristle and the potatoes were overcooked soggy mush...and two of us ordered it, so that's half the entrees)
Whatever changed, please kindly change it back. You used to be the best place in the western burbs, bar none. Now you're just another expensive restaurant.5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent as always.Excellent as always. Because of the small space, they tried to seat my party of only 2 virtually at a table with two other people. We objected -- politely -- and without hesitation gave us a more private table. Much appreciated.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMA la Maison has achieved aA la Maison has achieved a level of consistency in Food and Service that make it one of the best restaurants on the Main Line. The noise and feeling of being in a college dining hall in the large room is the only real drawback to this "neighborhood gem."4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent all around onceExcellent all around once again! Requested a window for a special occasion and it was waiting for us upon arrival.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMOur first time at the restaurantOur first time at the restaurant and we'll be back. Very accomodating with my wife who is gluton-free. Better than expected across the board. Only complaint- for a man the chairs are not very comfortable.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMTuscany night was incredible,Tuscany night was incredible, a 5 course meal servered with 6 selections of wine the Tuscan region of Italy. Being Italian American made it a special treat for me.4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMI was happily surprised byI was happily surprised by this little gem in my neighborhood. I had never been before always heading to the city for little French bistros but was so happy to discover what a great vibe this place has. The food was perfect, the service friendly but not overbearing, and there was an overall nice feeling - just like you get from comfortable neighborhood bistros. Lovely evening! Can't wait to go back.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMSunday brunch which happilySunday brunch which happily the restaurant has restarted this spring was delicious...The eggs benedict on freshly baked croissants (instead of the usual dry English muffins) was superb and the assortment of all you want pastries was super! Imagine Chocolate and Almond croissants never ceasing. The coffee is wonderful and the server was attentive and knowledgeable. Kudos (or should I say) simply magnifique...4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMWe love this place. LastWe love this place. Last time, we took serious New York City folks here, and they said it was one of the best restaurants they've ever been to. And it's right in our neighborhood.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat brunch at A La MaisonA La Maison served a very good Easter brunch with a delicious hors d'oeuvres table and a choice from a varied and intriguing entre menu. Everything was flavorful and the service was prompt. It was not inexpensive, but the reason to go out is to enjoy distinct dishes.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways delicious and the staffAlways delicious and the staff are very accommodating. Pate is out of this world!3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicieux! We had a delicious lunch! The mushroom crepe was outstanding and the accompanying salad was perfect. My dining companion loved her croque Madame and frites. It's worth coming here for the bread alone! And we were lucky to have a delightful French waiter.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMFun!Great Friday night dinner. Food - very good. Service - excellent. Ambiance - cozy, fun. The place was hopping in a good fun way for a Friday night. Brought along a great bottle of wine which capped off the meal. Dinner out should always be this way! The Bistro seems to get better and better.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMWe have been to A La MaisonWe have been to A La Maison many times since it opened and this has been our best experience yet. Generally, the food is good with some things being outstanding. This trip I would have to say it it was all outstanding. From the crabcake appetizer to the entrees we enjoyed every morsel. The ambiance is always very quaint and our server was friendly, efficient, knowledgeable yet not intrusive in the least. We look forward to our next meal here.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMdinner is usually great. wonderfuldinner is usually great. wonderful to have in neighborhood.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMA Nice Neighborhood FrenchWent as a party of 4 on a Monday night. The restaurant was half full and therefore was quieter than most of the other reviews would indicate. The charcuterie plate was excellent but the rest of the food while good was not outstanding or remarkable in any way. In the end I was left feeling that this is a nice neighborhood french restaurant but that the food was not quite the same level as a frequent diner of gourmet french restaurants would expect. Still, it is a nice affordable alternative to a gourmet french restaurant3/11/2013 12:00:00 AMAs always an excellent meal.As always an excellent meal. We love the food and the great service.1/19/2013 12:00:00 AM
