A La LuciaA great place for very good pastaand fish dishes. Fabulous pistachio gelato! A must go when you are in Old Town Alexandria.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMjust what we neededMy husband and I were looking for a place in which we would want to linger over the meal for conversation. This was it. The freshness of the ingredients came alive in the food stimulating our palates into delightful conversation. I had the veal and my husband the ravioli. Both dishes superb. I was even tempted with the nut bread and the foccacia in the bread basket. The calamari melted in our mouths.
We both tried dessert and coffee. Cappacino was great.
Service was very attentive. Wait accommodated every need. This will be one of our "go to" places for special occosions and for a nice treat during the week. Great find!6/4/2013 12:00:00 AMFavorite Restaurant in DC AreaExcellent food, friendly service and a great wine list. Great place to meet friends.6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMConsistently greatPaata and meat dishes are always excellent, Changing pace after a very good artichoke appetizer,, we had perfectly cooked salmon and striped bass entrees.6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMHidden gem!!This place will not disappoint . Food is awesome and the 3 course price fix menu is a bargain. Ask to sit in the back wine room.5/30/2013 12:00:00 AMCelebrating my wife's birthdayThis was not the first time we've dined
here, An excellent repeat restaurant. The
cuisine is authentic Italian, with several unique entrees. The seafood with black linguini was excellent. Customer care is paramount here. we had the prix fix menu which is reasonably priced for the high food quality.5/27/2013 12:00:00 AMFoodiesWas the best Italian Food we had since we are in the USA, we have been to Italy many times And know the cusine there. Very impressed with everything, its a gem...5/21/2013 12:00:00 AMSuch a find!We just moved into the neighborhood and were hoping to find some nice places where we could walk to dinner. La Lucia is perfect. We chose the 3-courses for $34. Unlike most restaurants with a special offering, where the choices are limited, La Lucia offered 2 columns of both appetizers and entrees.. Their pastas are homemade and out of this world! The spinach agnolotti was heavenly. An appetizer order of mussels came with double what we are used to seeing for that dish. The bread is warm and crunchy. The dessert and the cappuccino were both perfect. It's a gem and I hope no one reads this review so we can have it all to ourselves!5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is Where the Locals go!I love A La Lucia. I have never been disappointed. Everything is freak and the pasta is homemade. The staff have been here for many years, and they are great too.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMWorth the trip!W were a little skeptical given the one not so good review on the food, but very happy we went anyway! The food portions were perfect, but not huge, which allowed us to enjoy all the courses without feeling stuffed. The presentation and flavors were wonderful! We sat in the back room, which was quieter and had a nice warm feel to it. The wait staff was attentive and made a couple of excellent suggestions. We never felt rushed, and will definitely be back when we are back in town!5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways Great Family FavoriteWe did Mother's Day dinner here, since it is my mother's go-to Italian place, and it was fantastic as always. The recommended chianti was delicious, the agnolotti as heavenly as usual, and the service is always top notch. By the time of our late reservation, they were out of the chocolate cake, unfortunately, but we still had a lovely three course dinner and will be back!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Place!Had a great time on our Anniversary! Wonderful staff and food.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Old Town spot for Italian! My wife and I took her mother to A La Lucia for mother's day, and we had a wonderful time. The homemade pasta is really very good--delicate and fresh, with sauces that complement, but don't overpower the pasta.
There are a lot of "regulars" who go to A La Lucia, but the wait staff makes everyone feel welcome, and dining there is a relaxing and enjoyable experience.
The wine list isn't extensive, but the bottles are reasonably priced for the greater DC area. The three-course, prix fixe menu is also reasonably priced at $35. The starters are generous, but not overwhelming. I always have a fresh pasta dish as an entree, but the salmon with spinach dish is also delicious. For desserts, go with the house-made gelato.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent northern ItalianVery friendly neighborhood spot with excellent food and fine service. Very good wine list. Prices are reasonable for Alexandria. Portions are small but that is ok as at these prices you are tempted to sample everything on an extensive and varied menu with lots of interesting specials.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMGood StuffThis restaurant was recommended by friends who also joined us there for dinner. Obviously, the company was great and only added to the experience. Great, fresh, warm, homemade bread arrived at the table shortly after we did. I had the lentil soup which was just "ok". I really tasted like plain, boiled lentils with little-to-no spice. I had a cheese, spinach and ham cannelloni and they let me sub a beshemel for the usual tomato sauce. It was very good! Other dishes included salmon and lobster ravioli both of which were great. Desserts chocolate and decadent, although one person did say the pistachio gelato was one of the best desserts she had ever had.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMAuthentic ItalianGreat food. It reminded us of actually being in Italy. The gelato was clearly freshly home made. The seafood and pasta were wonderfully fresh and well seasoned. It was our first time there, but we will be back.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent meal with good service.Excellent meal with good service. I always enjoy dining at a la Lucia.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMWe really love this placeWe really love this place but I fear it has now been discovered. We had a reservation, arrived on time but still waited 30 mintes for our table.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic food. We all hadFantastic food. We all had homemade pasta dishes, that we are still remembering 2 days later. Looking forward to returning. Highly recommend4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMWorth a tryWent on Saturday Evening. Full house, but seated promptly having reservations. Nicely decorated, quite noisey and close seating. Service was only fair, but bread was brought about 5 minutes before the olive oil for dipping. Similarly mussels were brought a few minutes before plates. Mussels were plump juicy and better than most places although the sauce was not so great having asked to leave out the wine. Canneloni was better than most places, but a bit bland. Meatballs were very good. Gelato and chocolate cake was excellent. Good portions. Overall for the price it is worth trying. Good selection of Italian dishes that goes beyond the standard dishes.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMThis restaurant continuesThis restaurant continues to amaze me with the quality of the food. It is consistently fresh, of highest quality and well-prepared. The wait staff has been there since the restaurant opened, and it's wonderful having them as friends.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMEverything is Wonderful! We love the restaurant. Last time we were there my boyfriend and I split the fennel with melted cheese as an appetizer. This time we each ordered our own because it was so good. We also ordered the fresh rockfish and the filet mignon. Both were cooked to perfection. It is a warm, friendly restaurant with great food. I highly recommend it.4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food. ExcellentExcellent food. Excellent wait staff. Will definitely recommend and will return when in Alexandria.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMNice meal, nice food! OnlyNice meal, nice food! Only change I would make for ambiance is to put candles on the table!
I would also upgrade my wine glasses to compliment the lovely food.
Bread served w/olive oil...very good. I had spicy sausage rigatonni...very good, very authentic. My husband had veal raviloi which were so good he ate them all even though he was full. I also had a crispy shrimp, green bean and tomato salad. Very lovely.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMMy family had a very niceMy family had a very nice dinner. The bread with olive oil was superb, the meals were good, and the service was excellent. Everyone was very nice and we felt comfortable there. I would go again.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was our fourth time diningThis was our fourth time dining in this wonderful restaurant! I only wish we lived in Virginia so we could dine here more often. The staff is so accommodating (my elderly mom was with us and her walker). The had reserved a nice quiet corner booth, took care of walker and extended her extra courtesy respecting her age. The food is Always Excellent with great specials . Will be back soon !3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMConsistently excellent qualityConsistently excellent quality Italian-American food. My favorite Italian restaurant in Alexandria.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was delicious, theThe food was delicious, the service and wine recmmendation very good - and price is a good value for Old Town. Away from King St. eateries and truly a neighborhood gem. I have recommeded A La Lucia to others and would definely do so again -- and will return in the future.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was our first visit toThis was our first visit to A La Lucia, after being recommended to us by close friends who live in Alexandria. The food was delicious; the wine list is extensive and well-priced. The back room is very loud if it is full; didn't bother us but worth noting. All-in-all, excellent meal served with no pretension. We will definitely return.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMReservations not honored...It was our first time visiting this restaurant. We made a reservation through Open Table. We arrived on time at 8 p.m. and the hostest stated she would seat us shortly. We pinged her periodically, but at 8:45, we told her we were going to leave. They finally seated us near a noisy group about ten to nine. The food was good, not outstanding; however, the service was very good. The hostest sent us complimentary lemon drop drinks to make up for our wait, but we will not be returning to the restaurant. If you order off the fixed price menu, expect your portions to be smaller. Overall, good, not great.3/9/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was our first time atThis was our first time at this restaurant. We were in the area at a swim meet for our grandson and took advantage of Alexandria's Restaurant week. The restaurant had an excellent selection for restaurant week. My wife and I thought the service and food was very nice. If we were in the area again we would go back to the restaurant. The desserts especially the pistacho gelato were excellent.1/20/2013 12:00:00 AM
